C12 The Storm in the Hospital
The person lying in the hospital bed wasn't a stranger—it was her! Jiaojiao! How did she end up in a car accident and in the hospital? No wonder Ann Beiqi had come over earlier, questioning her... Everything seemed too coincidental, as if some invisible hand was orchestrating events.
After getting a clearer picture of the situation, her frown deepened. The accident happened on West River Road. That area had been under government redevelopment for the past couple of years and was now desolate, with hardly anyone around. What was Jiaojiao doing there?
Moreover, the timing of her accident coincided perfectly with Ann Beiqi's return home. It was all too precise, too suspicious. What was really going on? It seemed there was more to this than met the eye.
Seeing her lost in thought, the nurse gently reminded her, "Miss Moo!" She snapped back to reality, offering an embarrassed smile. A doctor can't afford any distractions during surgery; if the chief had seen her like that, she wouldn't have been given the chance to operate.
She felt a bit ashamed for losing her professional focus. "What's the current situation? I need to know the patient's condition and the preliminary diagnosis."
"The patient is experiencing significant bleeding and is in critical condition. We've administered anesthesia. The surgery involves the corner of the eye, and the incision is very close to the eye membrane, so we need you to perform it."
Yuhan nodded. She looked at Jiaojiao on the operating table, feeling a mix of emotions. This was her former sister, now a rival and enemy, who had taken her fiancé. But right now, she was also her patient, and out of professional duty, Yuhan was determined to do everything possible to save her.
The condition was serious. The surgery started at 8 PM and didn't conclude until 1 AM. Jiaojiao was successfully moved from the ICU to a regular room. The operation was a success, but that didn't guarantee her full recovery.
After the surgery, Yuhan leaned on her office chair, exhausted and on the verge of sleep. She gently massaged her temples and closed her eyes for a while, gradually regaining her composure.
Shortly after, an urgent call came through from the department.
"Dr. Yuhan, Miss Moo in bed twelve has woken up, and she's very agitated. It seems she's not keen on having the surgery. We have several procedures lined up in radiology, so I can't make it up there. I've left her file at the front desk. Could you please take it up and try to talk to her? We both know that if she doesn't have this surgery, her life could be at risk at any moment."
Moo Yuhan hung up the phone, standing still for a moment. Perhaps it was true what they said: bad deeds catch up with you eventually, and you have to face the consequences yourself.
"I said I'm not having the surgery! No, no, no! Are you deaf? Can't you hear what I'm saying? If you keep pushing me, I'll have my boyfriend fire you all. Get out!"
In the hospital room, Moo Jiaojiao yelled at the nurses.
Moo Yuhan took a deep breath and gently pushed the door open. The scene was chaotic—broken glass and leftover breakfast littered the floor, likely thrown in a fit of anger. A few nurses huddled in the corner, trying to calm her down.
When Moo Jiaojiao saw Yuhan, her eyes widened in surprise. "Why is it you?"
Yuhan pulled up a chair to the bedside, calmly laying out a couple of documents.
"You all can leave now. I'll handle this."
"Alright, Dr. Yuhan."
