C14 A Trap!
"What's wrong? Are you okay? I told you I'd take you home. Come on, let me help you." Seeing the situation, her aunt got up and helped her to her feet.
"I'm fine, just feeling a bit unwell. I've probably been too busy these past few days and haven't rested enough. I can manage, Auntie," Yuhan tried to push away her aunt's supportive arm, but she was too weak to resist and reluctantly followed her to the car.
Once in the car, the driver didn't ask where to go, as if he already knew, and sped off. The sudden rush jolted Yuhan awake, and she watched cautiously.
"Auntie, where are you taking me?" Yuhan asked, realizing they weren't heading home.
Surely they weren't planning to set her up with Yan Yu in broad daylight? But people will do anything for their own interests.
"I need to go to the office to handle some things, so I'm dropping you off at your uncle's place first. I'll pick you up once I'm done."
"But won't that bother Uncle? Auntie, just take me back to the Moo family home. I can take care of myself."
Hearing Yuhan's words, her aunt felt a pang of fear. They had come too far to turn back now.
"Yuhan," her aunt said with a seemingly kind smile, "you're too polite. Your uncle isn't a stranger. Besides, he's very business-savvy. You could learn a lot from him. The Moo family will rely on you younger ones in the future!"
What could she, an ophthalmologist, possibly learn from a businessman? Her aunt's excuse was flimsy at best.
Yuhan felt a chill. It seemed they were determined to take her to her uncle's house today.
"Auntie, I'm really not feeling well. I don't have the energy to visit Uncle. Please, just take me home."
Her aunt's eyes shifted, and she smiled, "Oh, silly me. My memory isn't what it used to be. Ann Beiqi and your uncle have some business to discuss and wanted to invite you for dinner. He mentioned he has something to talk to you about!"
Yuhan felt a sudden jolt in her heart. Could Ann Beiqi be planning to talk about calling off the engagement? The thought left her unable to voice any refusal.
Before long, the car pulled up outside the Yan family villa. Her aunt helped Yuhan out of the car, and they slowly made their way inside.
“What brings you here?” The Yan family’s housekeeper looked surprised to see the aunt and asked curiously.
“Oh, I have an appointment with Yan Yu!” the aunt replied casually, leading Yuhan straight to Yan Yu’s room.
“You can’t go in there... Mr. Yan didn’t give us any instructions. You’re not allowed in his room,” the housekeeper protested anxiously. “Mr. Yan will blame us!”
The aunt’s face fell. “Do I need an appointment to visit my own brother’s room? Can’t you tell who’s family and who’s not?”
The housekeeper flushed with embarrassment but didn’t dare to argue further, given the aunt’s status as Mr. Yan’s sister.
With a dismissive glance at the housekeeper, the aunt led Yuhan upstairs without another word.
“Rest here for a bit,” the aunt said, helping Yuhan onto Yan Yu’s bed and tucking her in gently. “I’ll come back for you once I’m done.”
She placed a glass of water on the bedside table. “Yuhan, drink some water if you get thirsty!”
