C7 Youngest Uncle

Her fiancé, the engagement, the new home—it all felt like a dream, now shattered like a beautiful bubble bursting in an instant. As an adult, she knew better than to indulge in such fantasies, but when hormones surged, logic often took a backseat.

She weakly picked up her phone and instinctively dialed her assistant. Back at the hospital, she cleaned her wound. Working at the hospital meant the nurses and doctors knew her well. The young nurse, usually so respectful, had tears in her eyes when she saw the injury. Her hands shook as she removed the glass shards, but Yuhan felt no pain.

There is no greater sorrow than a heart that has died. But for Moo Yuhan, the sadness was confined to today. As the eldest daughter of the Moo family, she knew she had to return to being the strong, aloof woman she was known to be, no matter how overwhelming today's sadness felt.

"Boss, boss, pick up the phone!" Her phone rang, pulling her from her daze as she stared at the white wall and red cross. The caller ID showed it was Ann Beiqi. How could he have the nerve to call?

She didn't want to answer, but her hand moved on its own, pressing the button to take the call.

"Don't forget the Ann family dinner tonight. You need to be there," Ann Beiqi's voice was cold.

Yuhan almost laughed in anger. "Why don't you take Moo Jiaojiao? Aren't you two close? She'd never refuse."

"Enough, Moo Yuhan. Do you really think I want you there? Do you have any idea how important this dinner is? I'm telling you, don't cause trouble. You have to attend tonight!"

"Important?" Yuhan couldn't hold back any longer. "Important, my foot! Why should I care?"

Ann Beiqi was taken aback by the sudden outburst from the usually composed woman and didn't know how to respond.

"Ann Beiqi, I'll end our engagement as soon as possible. You know it's for the best for both of us." Her love for Ann Beiqi had turned into deep disappointment. She had no hope left, only a desire to retain a shred of her dignity.

"Do you really have the right to talk to me like that? Are you so clean yourself? Yuhan, think about those marks on your body before you say anything to me!" Ann Beiqi suddenly spoke up. "If you want to call off the engagement, it's not impossible. Be at the house at seven tonight."

Yuhan wanted to say more, but the call had already ended.

The evening was lively at the Ann family's estate, with a pool, champagne, and a bustling party atmosphere. Yuhan leaned closely against Ann Beiqi, her wounds subtly aching, but the feeling of disgust from deep within was even harder to bear.

"Good evening, Mr. and Mrs. Ann."

"Ah, it's you, Han. Hello."

Ann Beiqi's parents saw her and nodded approvingly, noting her graceful and elegant demeanor. Yuhan's smile was a bit stiff, but she maintained her composure, greeting the Ann family’s relatives and friends with respect.

In truth, her wounds had just been bandaged. If it weren't for Ann Beiqi mentioning the engagement, she wouldn't have come at all.

A massive crystal chandelier hung in the center of the hall, and the dazzling lights made Yuhan feel weary. She didn't enjoy this kind of lively atmosphere. She had always preferred the quiet solitude, even though she could handle the formalities well, it just wasn't her preference.
