C8 Meeting

Ann Beiqi didn't seem to want to let her off the hook.

"Han, come with me for a moment."

Moo Yuhan smiled, "You know, watching you exchange pleasantries with your friends and family just now, I realized tonight how insincere you really are."

Ann Beiqi frowned, "Right back at you. Try not to plaster on that fake smile later; it's too stiff. We're about to meet someone important."

Someone important? Moo Yuhan scoffed internally. Could it be another one of Ann Beiqi's flings?

"That's my youngest uncle, right in the middle of the hall."

Youngest uncle?

Moo Yuhan looked up and immediately spotted the man in the crowd. He had an extraordinary presence, with striking features and a charm that was almost otherworldly. Even in a crowd, he stood out, always drawing attention and becoming the focal point.

Moo Yuhan's expression shifted slightly. She knew this man; he was the one who assaulted her that night! The man who had been as brutal as a beast, trying to tear her apart. She could never forget him!

And now he was a guest of the Ann family!

"Mr. Yan!" Ann Beiqi stepped forward, wearing a sycophantic smile.

Even the eldest son of the Ann family had people he needed to flatter?

Yan Yu nodded slightly, glancing at Moo Yuhan beside him. "And who is this?"

Ann Beiqi explained, "This is my fiancée, Moo Yuhan. Han, say hello to my uncle!"

"Mr. Yan..." Moo Yuhan's expression was a bit unnatural.

Yan Yu nodded again, feeling an inexplicable sense of familiarity with this woman, though he couldn't place where it came from. They were supposedly meeting for the first time.

"Mr. Yan, there's something I'd like to discuss with you privately. It's not convenient here. Shall we go over there?"

Yan Yu was pulled aside by Ann Beiqi to discuss business matters, giving Moo Yuhan a moment of relief. She was terrified that the man might recognize her.

Inside, she felt a surge of anger—not towards anyone else, but at herself. He had violated her, so why did she feel guilty?

"Han!" Ann Beiqi's mother suddenly approached, as if she had something to discuss.

"Ma'am."

"Han, have you seen Director Yan?"

Moo Yuhan wanted to smile, but it felt forced. Ann's mother's smile used to feel warm, but today it seemed insincere.

"I have, ma'am."

"Han, Director Yan is Beiqi's uncle. If this collaboration works out, we’ll need you to talk to your father about it."

Moo Yuhan instantly understood her meaning. The Ann family was trying to latch onto the Moo family's success.

She smirked internally, knowing exactly the situation the Ann family was in. They might still appear prosperous, but things weren't going well. Their attempt to break into the financial sector had failed due to unforeseen issues, and shifting industries was too late. Their original business had even suffered a bit.

The head of the Ann family wasn't exactly a visionary, always resorting to random tactics, like this attempt at a marriage alliance with the Moo family.

Moo Yuhan wasn't a business prodigy, and it seemed Ann Beiqi didn't have any genuine affection for her. So what was worth deceiving her for so long? Without a doubt, it was the Moo family's influence!

Even though Moo Yuhan was just a doctor, it didn't affect her status as the Moo family's eldest daughter. The Ann family wanted Beiqi to marry her to show the world their connection with the Moo family—or rather, to marry her for her status.
