C3 Damar, The Doctor Casanova
"Since when does a boss have to come personally to see her employees?" Areta sneered as soon as she was close enough to Damar.
The handsome doctor was sitting alone in the hospital cafeteria with a listless face, his hands rummaging through the food in front of him without any intention of starting to enjoy it.
Damar snorted softly then pulled the chair beside him, telling Areta to sit. "Over here," he said while patting the chair several times.
Areta chose to sit across the table, facing Damar. Ignoring the curious gazes of several pairs of eyes. Damar is known as a person who is friendly and warm, especially towards women. The doctor who specializes in internal medicine is so revered by women and transvestites that the scene where the doctor is with a woman is a common thing.
However, when Areta is beside him, Damar becomes a different person, the commercial smile that has been adorning his face seems to have disappeared. The interaction between the two of them looks more real like a pair of friends who love each other. Although Areta's cold aura often makes others reluctant to approach her, Damar doesn't seem bothered in the slightest. Among dozens of pairs of eyes staring at the table where Damar and Areta were sitting, several hospital management staff showed worried faces because Areta's presence was a sign of a big storm that was about to hit. They quickly finished lunch and hurried off to prepare for the storm in today's meeting.
"Where's Hanny?" Damar asked because he didn't find the assistant who usually always clings to her boss like a shadow.
"Outside. Zian's on the phone," Areta glanced at the tray of food belonging to Damar. Her hand moved to pull the tray and began to enjoy the contents in it, shrimp tempura and salad tossed with yogurt dressing.
"Hmm, not bad. Since when did this hospital canteen turn into a restaurant?" thought Areta.
Damar sighed resignedly, he stabbed a straw into the boxed milk packaging and placed it in front of Areta. "When was the last time you had a meal?" he asked. He propped his chin, staring intently at the face that was eating heartily.
"Yesterday," said Hanny who suddenly appeared with a tray filled with the same food. She chose to sit next to Damar and then put the same tray to replace Damar's which was seized by Areta.
"She's a workaholic and can't remember mealtimes," Hanny reports to Damar.
"No wonder her body is getting thin."
Areta snorted softly without paying attention to the complaints of her friends.
Hanny nodded dramatically, "I'll be able to get skinny after a while." Her whining was spoiled, her hands were tightly wrapped in Damar's arms.
"Oh, it's really sad. I feel sorry for my honey," replied Damar, stroking Hanny's hair gently.
"Aaa ..."
Hysterical screams from Damar's fans rumbled until Areta nearly choked. She threw a sharp glare at the sound that emitted a threatening aura that made the crowd instantly fall silent. Areta turned to her friends and then sneered in disgust which was replied with a ridiculous grin.
"Damar, earlier I met your senior," Hanny exclaimed enthusiastically. Her cheeks flushed red when she remembered her meeting with the handsome doctor.
When she was in college, Hanny often visited the medical school, even though the distance between the economics faculty and the medical school was very far, but the woman always found silly reasons to appear in the nest of prospective doctors. Damar knows his best friend's intentions and goals, especially if it's not hunting for handsome men.
Areta's body suddenly stiffened, and the hand that was spooning rice into his mouth was immediately suspended in the air. She strained her ears to hear Hanny's next sentence.
"Ah, Doctor Darell," Damar murmured flatly. Suddenly his memory flashed back to the commotion that had occurred in the ER this morning.
"Why?" Hanny asked, feeling strange at Damar's sudden silence.
Areta also stares at Damar. "Why? Out of stock of condoms?" she said casually.
Damar glared, smacking Areta's head to make the woman moan softly while Hanny laughed with satisfaction beside him.
"Damn you guys." Damar hiss. He glared at the two most precious women in his life.
"Well, the problems in your life are only two Damar. If it's not a girl, it's a condom. How can you be far from that." Areta said casually. Hanny nodded in approval.
Damar raised his hand, ready to ruffle Areta's shoulder-length hair but Hanny's hand moved faster to stop him.
"Don't even try! After this, he still has a meeting." Hold it, Hanny.
Dammar snorted slowly.
Areta furrowed his brows, "What's the matter?"
"Hmm," Damar looked at Areta, hesitating to continue the sentence.
Even though he and Areta have been best friends since childhood, Damar tries to act professionally by not mixing up their relationship at work. Damar is quite aware of his position as a doctor in charge of treating patients, while Areta is the owner of the hospital. Damar doesn't want to get involved in hospital operational matters even though Areta has repeatedly asked him to become a director with the excuse that she needs someone to help directly to manage the hospital so that her workload is a little less but Damar always refuses for various reasons.
Areta understands the main reason for Damar's refusal of her request. Damar's ability as a doctor has been acknowledged by various agencies but scorn is still often directed at him. Some other doctors consider Damar as a parasite that sticks to the hospital owner. Utilize friendship to climb up and improve social status.
Seeing the doubt on Damar's face, Areta nodded in understanding. "I'll find out later," she mumbled.
Seeing the tense atmosphere that suddenly arose between them, Hanny tried to divert the conversation to lighten the atmosphere.
“How are Tio and Shan doing?”
Damar's forehead wrinkled, trying to remember the schedule of his apartment mates. The two of them rarely showed the bridge of their nose these days.
"Tio is in Dubai, he said there is a flyover construction project. For Shan, I think in Milan. Our top model has a lot of fashion shows scheduled."
"Are they okay?"
Hanny tried to extract information from Darell but Areta gave her a sharp glance, asking her not to ask further about his friends' privacy.
Damar smiled faintly. "Maybe it's okay."
Areta stabbed the prawns from the tray that Hanny had brought, continued to eat, and let them be lost in their thoughts.
