C4 Learning New Techniques

After his clash with the Bull Demon, Yang Ying realized that although he had only just advanced to the Third level of Qi Refining, his True Qi seemed to have soared straight to the peak of that level.

"Could it be that using Origin Strength to level up takes me directly to the peak of the next level? I need to test this theory over the coming days!"

Mulling over this, Yang Ying sliced off the horns from the Bull Demon's head, intending to exchange them for Spirit Stones at the Mission Hall.

He then discovered a Heaven Herb not far from the Bull Demon. With care, he placed the herb into a medicinal box.

Once he had packed everything up, Yang Ying made his way toward the exit.

On his journey, he encountered another Bull Demon and dispatched it using the same technique, earning himself another 20 points of Origin Strength.

Yang Ying didn't run into any more demonic beasts before reaching the exit. He respectfully greeted two senior brothers and then left the Back Mountain, heading for the Mission Hall.

Upon entering the Mission Hall, Yang Ying happened upon Lu Chenghua and his companions mid-task handover. Catching sight of Yang Ying, Yang Chenghua remarked, "Second-level Yang, is the Mission Hall really a place for you?"

Undeterred, Yang Ying strode further inside.

"You dare to ignore Master Lu's words? Do you have a death wish?" taunted the fat man with a sinister chuckle, cracking his knuckles ominously.

"Look at him, all bloodied and with torn sleeves. He's probably been roughed up," Lee commented.

"Just come over here and bow down to us, and we'll let it slide," the fat man said, inching closer to Yang Ying.

By then, Yang Ying had already reached Deacon Lee's side. Ignoring Lu Chenghua and his cronies, he handed over the items from his backpack to the Deacon.

Deacon Lee glanced up, his tone dismissive, "Stop causing a scene here!"

"Hmm, not bad. You've completed two missions! These two tusks are a bit small; they must be from young wild boars, right? Still, it counts as mission completion. Here are your Spirit Stones." Deacon Lee addressed Yang Ying, then nonchalantly retrieved three low-grade Spirit Stones and passed them to him.

Yang Ying smoothly accepted the three Spirit Stones and passed the demonic beast parts from his backpack to Deacon Lee.

Upon noticing the four Bull Demon Horns, Deacon Lee gave Yang Ying another look and remarked, "Ah, four Bull Demon Horns. The quality is quite good!" He then nonchalantly retrieved seven low-grade Spirit Stones and handed them over to Yang Ying.

Feeling the weight of the Spirit Stones in his hand, Yang Ying's eyes lit up with excitement. "I've had a good haul! I've never had so many Spirit Stones in my possession before. Hunting demonic beasts on the Back Mountain isn't without its risks, but as long as I stay cautious and avoid unnecessary risks like I did today, I should be fine."

"Bull Demons? Those are second-level demonic beasts. Since when can Second-level Yang take down a beast of that caliber?"

"Has he had a breakthrough in his cultivation? No way, he's been stuck at the Second level of Qi Refining for over three years!" Lu Chenghua and the others couldn't hide their disbelief after hearing Deacon Lee's words. They eyed the Bull Demon Horns and murmured among themselves incredulously.

"It must have been someone else who killed the Bull Demon!"

"Exactly, it must have been!"

A glint of cold determination flashed in Yang Ying's eyes as he observed the trio, swiftly concealed as he bowed his head. "You'll see," he muttered under his breath.

With brisk steps, Yang Ying left the Mission Hall and glanced up at the western sun. Eager to make the most of the daylight, he set off for the Tripitaka Sutra Pavilion.

The Tripitaka Sutra Pavilion was where the Green Cloud Sect housed their cultivation techniques. Sect disciples could gain entry by offering a certain number of Spirit Stones.

Yang Ying presented a wooden waist tag to the senior brother at the entrance and handed over a low-grade Spirit Stone.

After inspecting the waist tag, the senior brother informed Yang Ying, "As an Outer Sect disciple, you're restricted to the first level only; the second level is off-limits. And remember, you can stay inside for a maximum of one hour. You may enter now."

Yang Ying bowed respectfully before entering the Tripitaka Sutra Pavilion.

As he stepped into the expansive space of the Tripitaka Sutra Pavilion, Yang Ying was struck by its sheer size, spanning several hundred square meters. The first floor was segmented into various areas, each featuring bookshelves laden with an array of books.

This was Yang Ying's inaugural visit to the pavilion. Previously, he could only obtain two Spirit Stones each month, barely sufficient for his cultivation needs, which made him hesitant to spend time in the pavilion.

The pavilion was nearly empty, likely due to the late hour. The few present briefly looked up at Yang Ying's arrival before returning their focus to the tomes they were perusing.

Yang Ying wandered the first floor, noting the distinct sections dedicated to human history, cultivation techniques, spiritual herbs and demonic beasts, and more cultivation texts.

He found himself in the cultivation methods area and picked up a technique known as the Fire Spirit Art. A voice announced, "Congratulations, you have discovered the Fire Spirit Art. Comprehending this requires 20 points of Origin Strength. Would you like to proceed?"

Startled, Yang Ying quickly thought "no." He realized that Origin Strength could be used not only to learn cultivation methods but also to enhance one's proficiency in them. He accessed the system interface, focusing on the Basic Sword Arts (Initial success).

"Congratulations, upgrading the Basic Sword Arts (Initial success) requires 20 points of Origin Strength. Would you like to upgrade?" Again, Yang Ying thought "no."

A surge of joy rushed through him as he realized the potential of Origin Strength. He couldn't contain a chuckle, which drew a glare from a nearby reader. Yang Ying quickly stifled his laughter, and once his excitement subsided, he pondered his next steps.

Learning a movement technique was his immediate concern; without it, hunting demonic beasts would prove challenging. Should he have Origin Strength to spare, he'd consider enhancing his Basic Sword Arts.

With a plan in mind, Yang Ying meticulously searched the cultivation methods. Eventually, he selected two texts that seemed well-suited to his needs: Soaring Movement Arts and Loach Skill.

The Soaring Movement Arts are all about shifting positions within tight confines.

The Loach Skill, on the other hand, is for evasive maneuvers!

"I'll stick with the Soaring Movement Arts! I have no desire to wriggle around like a loach when facing a demonic beast!"

As Yang Ying perused the details of the Loach Skill, he envisioned himself dodging beasts with its techniques and shuddered at the thought.

The Soaring Movement Arts were ideal for dodging and could even aid in making a quick getaway. It was, without a doubt, the best fit for him.

With that in mind, he reached for the Soaring Movement Arts.

"Ding! Congratulations on discovering the Soaring Movement Arts. Comprehending this skill requires 20 points of Origin Strength. Would you like to proceed?"

"Congratulations on mastering the Soaring Movement Arts!"

After some contemplation, Yang Ying decided to enhance his Basic Sword Arts.

"Congratulations, your Basic Sword Arts have now achieved Great Completion!"

Yang Ying pulled up the system interface to review his stats.

Name: Yang Ying

Identity: Outer Sect Disciple of the Green Cloud Sect

Qualification: Red Level

Level: Third level of Qi Refining

Skills: Profound Essence Spell (Initial Success), Basic Sword Arts (Great Completion), Soaring Movement Arts (Entry-Level)

Origin Strength: 0

Origin Strength needed for next level-up: 0/100

"Now that the Basic Sword Arts are fully developed, I'm curious about their potency," Yang Ying mused as he dashed off.

He was just beginning with the Soaring Movement Arts, managing only a one-meter leap at a time. But as a novice in this form of movement, he couldn't resist using it repeatedly, his figure flickering in and out of sight.
