C3 Chapter three

We followed Elaine into the attic. What I saw there was beyond my wildest imagination. The spacious area was full of mystical objects, candles, books, and more. It looked more like a witch’s workplace instead of an energy room.

“Welcome to my energy room. You two are a few of the lucky ones who get to be here,” said Elaine, spreading her arms and smiling like it was her most prized possession.

My eyes moved to Becky, whose jaw was so wide open that it could touch the ground. Clearly, she had never seen it before.

“Why do you have all of this?” I asked.

“I inherited it from my late mother. We are generational witches on my mother’s side. My mother made me promise on her deathbed to keep all of this safe and to carry on the tradition,” answered Elaine.

Becky and I were taken aback in horror. My murderous aunt was also a witch!

“Okay. You two are terrified. Let me tell you that we only practice spiritual and white magic. We are nothing like those blood witches who play with the dark arts,” said Elaine.

“This is messed up. This is messed up,” Becky said out loud. “Out of these things, my cousin chooses me to tell about her sex spirit that she had summoned to break free of her psycho ex-boyfriend.”

Becky narrowed her eyes at Elaine. “It’s like looking at a new person, Cass. I don’t know who she is. What is real and what is not? She could be a demon herself disguising as my cousin for all I know.”

Elaine sighed. “Stop overreacting, my dear cousin. Some things are best not shared with everyone. Besides, you were never in need of magic. I only told you about the incubus because you entered my room in the middle of my practice. And also because I wanted to scare you off so that you would stop coming to my house while my relationship with the Incubus was still on.”

Becky’s face became red. A big vein on her forehead popped. Oh boy, that girl was mad furious.

“How do you manage to hide this all from Mike?” I asked.

“Well, he knows about the white magic stuff. I am only hiding the incubus part from him. It happened long before him, so it doesn’t concern him,” answered Elaine.

“Becky quit pouting,” began Elaine. “Everything I told you was the truth. I did it to save myself from my ex-boyfriend, who was not only stalking me but had also hexed me with the help of a local witch.”

“I don’t believe a word you say,” said Becky, looking away.

“We are here to help your friend, remember? said Elaine. “You and I can have this argument later.”

“Fine!” Becky relaxed her super stiff face. “For now, I will not say anything for Cassidy’s sake.”

Elaine thanked Becky and moved to me. “So, do you have questions before I show you the objects of my most powerful incubus summoning spell?”

“Uh, I have a few,” I said.

“What was your experience like with an incubus? How long did it last? Did he solve your problem immediately? And where he is now?” I asked in one breath.

“That’s a lot of questions,” said Elaine, grabbing a stool. She sat on it and took some moments before answering.

“My relationship with my incubus lasted several months. Yes, he removed my curse and taught my ex-boyfriend an excellent lesson. That scumbag is afraid to get anywhere near me to this day.

I don’t know where my incubus is now. My experience with him was interesting. Their energy, the feeling, the sex, everything is so different. It took some time to adjust. His high energy and extreme sex appetite would suck me dry often. It took a huge toll on my mental health, but it got me what I wanted.”

The sex descriptions were overwhelming. I was terrified, but not ready to admit it.

“If it solves my problem, I am prepared to bear it for a few months. I had no good plan to find and confront my aunt anyway,” I said.

Elaine looked at me with sympathy and confusion. “Sorry to disappoint you, Cassidy, but our situations have a seemingly small but relatively large difference. See, my ex-boyfriend paid a local witch to hex me, whereas, in your situation, your enemy is a blood witch herself.

An incubus can remove the curse, but can’t punish a blood witch. He can help you to the best of his ability, but the rest is up to you. You might have to extend your time with him as to how long it would take to stop your aunt from cursing your family once and for all.”

That was the initial plan, so it didn’t matter that it could have been easier for us if the witch was not the enemy.

“As long as he can pull my family out of danger, I am ready for it. I can figure out the rest later. I would like to learn about the summoning spell now. I plan on performing it tonight,” I said.

“Okay, as you wish,” Elaine stood up, dusting her hands. “Let’s get to work.

Elaine uncovered a chest sitting in a dark corner of the room. She pulled something out of it. I tried to peek at the rest of the contents, but she unknowingly moved in front of it, hence blocking my view.

“This is the most important part of the method,” Elaine began and unrolled an empty scroll, “Since we are using a spell to quickly summon a powerful incubus. Rules must be set at the very beginning. This scroll is enchanted. It’s used for binding contracts with all kinds of supernatural entities. You must state everything from your intentions to the spirit’s duty and any rules he must adhere to. Lastly, leave two spots for both of your signatures. A fresh drop of blood can serve as your signature. The spirit would choose something of his choice to sign it. The scroll would turn red when the spirit has used a valid substance to sign it. Don’t sign it until he does. Also, the scroll is smart enough to not accept forced or forged signatures.”

“Would the enchanted scroll force him to stay true to it?” I asked.

Elaine rolled it back. “Yes, and no. It would force him to quickly perform his duties and leave once finished. Sometimes spirits like to linger, so as long as the scroll is intact, it would ensure that it doesn’t overextend its stay. However, the scroll is not enchanted to force it to abide by any other rules. If you’re having trouble in some other way, we can work on that together.”

I was about to open my mouth to ask another question when Elaine spoke again. “No, the spirit can’t destroy the scroll, ever. After it has been signed by both parties, you can’t either until the contract is finished.”

I sighed in relief. That was exactly what I had in mind.

“Can I ask it to leave me alone when the sex gets too much for me? Can this be by my rule?” I ask in my innocence.

Elaine struggled with her amusement. “You can’t have rules around the only thing you’re giving him.”

“One thing I forgot to tell you is that the spirit gets to put one rule of his own on the scroll,” she added.

“Oh, lord,” I mutter, “What would it ask for?”

“I don’t know.” Elaine shrugged her shoulders. “My incubus asked me to wear a specific color and scent every night to greet him in bed.”

“That’s not bad,” I said, feeling more relaxed about the rules.

“Every sex spirit has its own personality, so who knows what yours would ask? You can reject it if you don’t like it. If he still doesn’t want to change his rule, you can abandon him and look for another incubus. But to endure another spell like this, your soul and body need time to heal. So, it’s advisable to stick with the one you have, but not necessary. The wait, however, for the next spell is non-negotiable if you want to live,” said Elaine.

Elaine then went on to explain each part of the spell at length. By the time we were finished, I had memorized and understood each step.

I returned to my home around 3 am feeling confident. It was time to do the spell and get my first sex spirit.
