C10 The Fourth Was Lost
The three kiddos stood in a small row, hand in hand, with two adults keeping a watchful eye on them from the side.
"This set looks good. Boss, why don't you give it a try?"
In the group of six, the three brothers shared the same height and build, as did the three sisters. Therefore, it was sufficient to have just one of them try on the clothes.
Zhang Zhe was in charge of selecting outfits and then escorted Kiddo to the fitting room. However, having only Kiddo try on the clothes was exhausting, and the other kiddos were eager to try on the new clothes themselves, so they decided to take turns.
Ms. Liu was tasked with keeping an eye on the rest of the kiddos.
The kiddos behaved well, but as the evening drew on and the crowds grew, they were occasionally jostled apart. Ms. Liu initially kept a good watch, confident that none were missing. But when she noticed that one kiddo was missing, that kiddo had completely vanished!
"Weren't you watching them? Where's Fourth?" Zhang Zhe inquired.
Ms. Liu looked panicked, "Didn't Fourth go to try on clothes?"
"He finished already," Zhang Zhe explained. "It was Fifth's turn to try on another dress, and Fourth left the fitting room..."
"I never saw Fourth come out!" Ms. Liu nearly burst into tears, fearing the child was lost.
Zhang Zhe quickly took Fifth, who had just finished trying on clothes, and handed him to Ms. Liu, "Keep a tight watch on them here. I'll call Jianjia, and we'll look for Fourth together!"
Ye Yisi had wandered off, following a vendor selling balloon flowers.
Initially captivated by the vibrant and attractive balloon flowers, she wanted to linger and look longer. But as the vendor continued to move away, she followed until, before she knew it, she found herself at the roadside.
A nearby cake shop displayed a large, stunning cake model in the window that looked absolutely scrumptious.
She pressed her chubby little hand against the glass, her stomach rumbling with hunger. She wanted to return to her grandmother but realized she had lost her way.
"Hmm?" She pivoted on her tiny legs, her face etched with confusion as she scanned her surroundings.
Ye Yisi felt a wave of panic, but she swiftly recalled her mother's advice. If you ever find yourself lost, stay calm!
You mustn't trust just anyone, particularly those who approach you out of the blue. Yet, it's okay to seek help from someone who appears relatively trustworthy.
But who should she approach?
What if she was snatched by villains?
She had heard tales of stolen children left without food or water, maimed, and cast aside to beg on the streets...
The more Ye Yisi dwelled on these thoughts, the more her heart raced. Nevertheless, she mustered her courage, masking her bewilderment and anxiety, feigning composure as she continued on her way.
A car had come to a slow stop by the roadside, not too far from where Ye Yisi stood.
She noticed a man in a black suit step out from the passenger side and move to the rear seat. The individual in the back seat opened the door and passed him a document. He accepted it and walked away.
Yet, the car remained idle by the curb.
Ye Yisi craned her neck, scrutinizing the vehicle with her bright, inquisitive eyes.
She recognized the emblem on the car; Mr. Ye Su had one just like it. It was called... Oh, a Rolls-Royce!
People who drove such cars were incredibly wealthy.
Her eyes sparkled with realization, and she hurriedly toddled toward the car.
Being a child, she could only discern that there was someone in the back seat, so she headed directly there.
Standing before the car door, she stood on her tiptoes, her plump little hands gently tapping on the window.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" she inquired in a soft, milky voice, repeating her question politely, "Excuse me, is someone inside?"
