C12 He Wanted Him to be His Father

When Ye Jianjia arrived, Zhang Zhe had already picked up the "Love Wave" kiddo.

"Ye Yisi!" Ye Jianjia embraced the kiddo, feeling a weight lift from her heart, yet she was so frustrated she wanted to scold her.

"Mom, I'm sorry."

Ye Jianjia really felt like scolding her, but looking at her chubby pink cheeks, she couldn't bring herself to do it.

She couldn't bring herself to scold her, but her irritation was hard to shake off. She reached out and lovingly squeezed Fourth's rosy cheeks, exclaiming, "Ye Yisi! You're a little imp! A mischievous little imp!"

"Wuwuwu... Mommy..." The kiddo knew she was in the wrong. Initially, she didn't resist, but after her mother's playful torment became too much, she quickly wriggled free and took refuge behind Zhang Zhe. Ye Jianjia was speechless.

The people in the broadcast room chuckled. "This little girl is adorable!"

"She's learning to stand up for herself. So cute!"

"Your daughter is beautiful, and she looks just like you. I'm glad she's okay; you didn't mean to frighten her."

"Thank you all," Ye Jianjia sighed softly, then gently picked up the kiddo. "You wandered off and gave Mom and Grandma quite a scare. You're the silly one!"

The comfort of her mother's soft, fragrant embrace calmed the kiddo. So, Fourth stopped fussing and just shook her head in denial, "Mommy, I'm not weird."

Ye Jianjia smiled, "No, you're not weird. But you mustn't run off like that again, understood?"

The shopping trip lost its appeal after the scare, so they packed up their purchases and headed home with the kiddos.

On the way, Ye Jianjia asked Fourth how she found the broadcast room.

"A man helped her get there," Zhang Zhe explained.

Fourth added, "Mommy, a handsome uncle with a broken leg helped me. He asked another uncle to take me to the broadcast room."

Ye Jianjia internally rolled her eyes, thinking, "Little fanboy!"

"Aren't you scared that the uncle might be a bad guy?"

Fourth's voice was soft and sweet, filled with conviction, "Uncle's car is a Rolls-Royce. He must be rich and wouldn't kidnap kids."

Ye Jianjia scoffed, "Oh, please! You're just swayed because he's good-looking. To you, anyone with a pretty face is automatically a good person."

Fourth puffed up, frustrated, "That's not true, I... I... I..."

He desperately wanted to express himself, but the words eluded him.

"Enough, stop teasing her," Zhang Zhe intervened, seeing Fourth's cheeks turn red with effort. "Third, give Fourth some candy."

Ye Yiye produced a piece of candy and offered it to his sister, "Yisi, here's some candy for you."

Fourth reached out her chubby hand to accept it, "Thank you, Yiye."

"Yiye... You can barely talk clearly, yet you dare to wander off," Ye Jianjia teased.

The eldest brother gently patted Fourth's head, "Yisi, don't wander off. Mom and Grandma will worry."

"Mhm, mhm," Fourth nodded obediently.

Ye Jianjia decided not to tease her further and concentrated on driving.

But after a short while, Fourth, that little rascal, had another whim. She stood behind the driver's seat and patted Ye Jianjia's shoulder, "Mommy."

Without being able to turn around, Ye Jianjia simply hummed in acknowledgment, "Hmm?"

"That uncle is really handsome!"

Ye Jianjia thought to herself, "Really? You interrupt my driving just to say that?"

Then, the next moment, she heard the little girl shyly declare, "I want him to be our daddy!"

Ye Jianjia's grip on the steering wheel nearly faltered.
