C12 Chapter 12

After meeting with his family, Jimmy reported to his office the same day. The table was already turned. Sam said that after his preliminary investigation, he came up with the result that a lady was hiding in the flower during the operation at Barrister Louis' house. And because he knew the person to be Sandra, he tagged Sandra as the PRIME suspect. Jimmy and Sandra had been seen on many occasions. Indirectly, he's saying that because Jimmy and Sandra have been together and acting like friends, they needed to question Sandra or even arrest her if there is a need for such. As that was already the case on the ground, telling them to terminate the case would be like confirmation of Sam's fallacy.

He was left in a dilemma. Terminating the investigation may soil his name and anything may come up. Continuing with the investigation may be too bloody because his life and that of his family were already at risk. He already knew Sam can go any lent to accuse another person of the crime he committed. Meanwhile, Sandra may do nothing but face judgment. Will this be the time for the truth to be finally uncovered? Can the public bear whatever may be the consequences of uncovering the truth?

Amidst fear and confusion, Jimmy quickly called Zick and told him what he heard from Sam, the officer handling the investigation.

… Allowing Sam to be among the investigators is the worst mistake you've ever made since I know you!!

That's the bitter truth to behold! How can I get myself and Sandra out of these bloodsuckers' hands?

Well, not good news, but we got to do something. I guess this is the right time we'll ever have to expose the whole things that happened in the dark.

By that, we can unravel the beast for the better. Zick said as he got infuriated, don't you think that's an expensive joke? Will I and Sandra survive it? Jimmy asked as he got puzzled.

No matter how long, the truth must come out someday.

That's true, but not at the expense of my life and that of Sandra. We've lost Bar Louis already. Any other loss won't prove us smart.

How then do you wish to address the issue before us?

That's why I plea for help. I'm perplexed.

Okay, we'll go on with the case as he'll report to me. Or I'll be the one standing for Sandra if Sam reports to another chamber. During the judgment and all that, I'll make him understand that I also know what he knows. He dare not misbehave before me. Else I jail him.

If it'll go as smoothly as you just said it, I have no problem but any digression, hmm

Don't panic. The whole thing is still under control.

That's good anyway. Thanks. I've to go

He hung up the phone.

He's still not comfortable with the way things kept changing. He called Sandra and told her the update.

On hearing the conversation, I kept fuming. I fumed and threatened to expose whatever was hidden. Despite my age, I screamed… The highest tragedy is just for me to die, as my parents died. Not new.

Shut your trap, deer. What the hell do you mean? Do you wish to die at this age?

If I die, by any means, I won't be the first that died at this age. Besides everyone must, one day, die.

Jessy, mind your words. I remain your aunt and I deserve my respect.

I've never seen my aunt in that mood. Even the voice alone, coupled with the expression that accompanied it, I could simply say that she'd lost her mind and may do what we may regret in the nearest future.

I wrestled all I could, not allowing the tears that already formed in my eyes to drop. But couldn't control it anymore. I noticed such hot tears rolling down from my eyes past my chin. I was pausing my breath in other to control myself from crying, but it seemed I wasn't stopping anytime soon.

Furthermore, I noticed that Sandra hugged me very tightly. "Baby Jessy, sorry I scolded you in that manner, I was only trying to calm you down."

I was already bonding with this woman like my mother. I felt such comfort I do feel in my mum's bosom. As she hugged me, I felt like someone poured cold water on my heart. I felt as if she was my mother. Something whispered to me that my mother was dead. I dragged myself away from her.

It was like I'm still seeing my mom, but I couldn't hold her. I do know not whether it was just a hallucination, but I assumed it was real. Sandra got confused by what I did. In less than 30 seconds, I was very comfortable with her, sooner I just separated myself from her as if we were having a misunderstanding

… Jessy, what's that? What does that mean? Talk to me, Jessy. She noticed I wasn't even acting as if I heard what she said. She kept standing as her hands were still widespread as it was when I left her. He came closer and touched me. I expressed shock. Then I couldn't see my mother again. I looked around but only saw Sandra.

I hugged her again and started crying again. From Sandra's phone, one could still hear Jimmy speaking to us.

Sandra, what's happening? Talk to me now! What's happening between both of you? Have you lost your senses, Sandra? She's too young for all these. Sandra!! Talk to me… No one replied to him, then he hung up.

I hugged Sandra tight that she had no opportunity to ask me any questions. I guess she understood.

Not only that, but I started remembering all the sweet memories I and my parents created as a family. Likewise, I remembered what happened on my sixth birthday when my family embellished me with such an adorable dress. My Dad even bought me a golden watch. Our house was filled up with well-wishers. Everyone singing 'Happy birthday to you. My mum couldn't hold back tears as she kept hearing from the background…such an adorable little girl.

Now, I have no one to talk to about the memory, to talk more about creating more.

Sandra guarded me to the bed, where I lay and continued with my imagination.

I heard Sandra's phone ringing again. As I heard her narrating what happened when we were on a call with Jimmy, I realized she was talking to Jimmy again. I couldn't hear all they said before I fell asleep.
