C1050 He Is My Man!
"Wilson?"
Benin, slender in form, emerged from behind the platform. She cast a glance at the young Starborn man, her expression serene as she nodded slightly in acknowledgment.
"It's actually him..."
Hart, from the Silverscale Tribe, standing nearby, felt a pang of sadness upon seeing the dashing Starborn youth.
Wilson, clad in opulent attire, was held in high esteem by several formidable Starborn protectors.
In every aspect—appearance, bloodline level, and race—Wilson was leagues above him.
Hart was also aware that Wilson had once taken a liking to Benin.
In comparison to Wilson, Hart couldn't help but feel diminished, his mood sinking without reason.
Prismatic crystal pillars, pulsating with radiant cosmic energy, were arrayed on the Starborn battleship like cannons, all trained on Ashen Hollow.
Several Starborn elders looked towards Ashen Hollow with ill intent.
"Starfire Cannon!"
Pattinson's heart skipped a beat at the sight of the prismatic crystal pillars aimed at Ashen Hollow, and he quickly concentrated on the movements of the Starborn battleship.
Sweat beaded on Pattinson's forehead as he fidgeted nervously—he was genuinely frightened.
"Stop!"
A Starborn elder bellowed, commanding Ashen Hollow to halt its advance.
After a moment's consideration, Pattinson grimaced and used his blood magic to bring the already sluggish Ashen Hollow to a standstill. "The Starfire Cannon's cosmic energy blast is more than this land's defenses can withstand. If only I had known, I would have steered clear," he lamented to Yu Yuan.
Ashen Hollow's strength lay in its speed, not its protective capabilities. Under the assault of the Starfire Cannon, it would be reduced to rubble in no time.
Yu Yuan nodded, turning to Benin. "Do you know him?"
"In a way," Benin replied with equanimity. "Wilson is a noble of the Starborn. His family, the Coleman family, once produced a tenth level Starborn expert. In the ranks of intelligent life, any family that has birthed a tenth level expert holds an exalted status. It signifies that the family's progeny may yet give rise to another expert of such caliber."
She offered a succinct explanation.
"Although Wilson's ancestor perished at the hands of the Dark Phoenix in the Everlands, the Coleman family maintains a robust legacy among the Starborn. Wilson is seen as a promising core seed, likely to ascend to the tenth level. We crossed paths a few years back, but I wouldn't say we're particularly close."
She first encountered Wilson at an Otherkin auction house, where his remarkable bidding caught her eye. At that time, Wilson already possessed an eighth-level bloodline. As a member of the prestigious Starborn, the first level among the extraterrestrial Star River races, Wilson's noble birth and exceptional talents made him the star of the auction.
Wilson took note of her, a rare Voidweaver, especially after being introduced by an elder from her tribe. While he did show some affection for her, he refrained from actively pursuing her, never displaying an intense longing.
Later, she learned from her tribe's elders that her bloodline was only at the seventh level and her talents were somewhat limited. Wilson's backers had determined that her bloodline's peak would be at the eighth level, a breakthrough that might only occur after several centuries.
Advised by his family's elders, Wilson decided that she, Benin, was not a suitable match for him, and the matter was dropped. Benin had never harbored strong feelings for Wilson, but the revelation still left her feeling uneasy.
Years later, their paths crossed again...
"Long time no see."
The tall and handsome Wilson emerged from the imposing Voidfarer warship and made his way toward the Ashen Hollow. The Starfire Cannons adjusted their angles, ominously aiming at the Ashen Hollow.
Pattinson was on edge, his mood oppressively heavy with the fear that a misfire from the Starfire Cannons could unleash a devastating blast of cosmic energy, shattering the Ashen Hollow to pieces.
As Wilson advanced, several aged Starborn elders hurriedly followed suit. "This guy..." Benin mused, sensing an unmistakable excitement in Wilson's eyes that struck her as odd.
She then noticed the elders of the Coleman family accompanying Wilson, their gazes upon her as if she were a precious gem. It dawned on her that her status had changed. Once a seventh-level Voidweaver with an assumed limit of the eighth level, she had, in a few short years, already surpassed her bloodline constraints to become an eighth-level Voidweaver. Considering the lifespan of a Voidweaver, she was still incredibly young.
This indicated that she had a significant chance of advancing even further, possibly reaching the ninth level. A ninth-level Voidweaver was an exceptional being to any intelligent life, treated as a distinguished guest and eagerly sought after for recruitment.
"It seems that now I'm finally seen as worthy of him," Benin mused with a snort.
Pattinson didn't dare resist as the Starborn, led by Wilson, shattered the Luminescent Barrier and descended upon the Ashen Hollow.
"The humans of the Everlands?"
The Starborn elder, who had signaled for the Ashen Hollow to halt, touched down and fixed his gaze solely on Hu Caiyun and Yu Yuan, ignoring everyone else.
The other Starborn were visibly taken aback and on guard.
Yu Yuan, standing on a raised platform, had condensed his aura and remnant soul, yet he could still acutely sense the faint chill of Soul Power around his head and chest.
He was well aware that the Starborn had been covertly scrutinizing him and Hu Caiyun upon their arrival.
With a wry twist of his lips, he felt an odd sense of amusement.
The most formidable Starborn of the first level had come to the Ashen Hollow, disregarding Pattinson of the Shadowkin, Elena of the Shura, and Hart of the Silverscale Tribe. They showed a particular interest in him and Hu Caiyun, a human, which suggested that in the eyes of the Starborn, humans were to be feared the most.
Indeed, humans were the bane of the Otherkin.
He chuckled to himself.
"Calves, where are Fernand and Rosny?"
The elder Starborn with ninth-level bloodline, noting Yu Yuan and Hu Caiyun's silent smiles, turned to Elena and asked sternly, "Are they nearby?"
"I have no idea," Elena replied, shaking her head vigorously with a look of bewilderment.
"Sir, we were invited by the Skyreach Consortium's white crane to the Annihilation Nebula," Pattinson interjected, trying to muster some courage. "Our three kings should also be en route there."
"Rogues with such privilege!" the elder scoffed, his eyes filled with scorn. "May I ask how to address you?" he inquired cautiously of Hu Caiyun.
"People call me Peach Madam," Hu Caiyun responded nonchalantly.
"Peach Madam, Peach Madam, Peach..." the Starborn elder repeated under his breath, his expression suddenly becoming blank. "Could it be... the dark disciple who recently appeared in Yogreron?"
"Yogreron!"
The Starborn experts who had landed were visibly shocked, their faces draining of color as they hastily maintained their distance from Hu Caiyun.
The horrific events that unfolded in Yogreron were no longer a secret. A woman, known as Peach Madam, had nearly eradicated the entire population of the Shadowkin residing there.
In response, the Shadowkin's mightiest had mobilized, scouring the world for her. Yet, Yogreron was a vast distance from the Annihilation Nebula. What could have brought Peach Madam to such a remote place?
"Benin, were you captured by bandits, or was it them?" Wilson's gaze shimmered with confusion as he first glanced at Pattinson and then fixed his eyes on Peach Madam. "Don't worry, now that you've encountered me, I'll make sure you're safe!"
"Neither," replied Benin, her tone icy.
"Regardless, come with me and let's leave this place. We'll head to our warship," Wilson offered with a courteous bow. "A person of your stature shouldn't be seen in such squalor."
"Squalor? You're the squalid one here!" Elena retorted cheerfully.
Wilson turned to her with a look of disdain. "Uncivilized brute. I'm aware your father was a Shura General, but alas, he was cast out of the tribe. Your current status as a bandit, not a lady of refinement, means you have no right to address me in such a manner."
"And what about you? Aren't you just riding on the coattails of a distinguished ancestor?" Elena challenged, her fist raised and clenched so tightly that her vital energy was ready to burst forth. "Wilson, you're centuries old and yet only possess an eighth-level Starborn bloodline. What's there to boast about? Look at me, I'm far younger than you and I too have reached the eighth bloodline level!"
"Eighth level..." The Starborn elders, sensing the energy within Elena, were visibly astonished.
Elena was indeed quite young, having only recently come of age among the Shura. To have already achieved an eighth-level bloodline was remarkable. If not for her status as a bandit, she would surely have been courted by the Shura's elite and granted access to the Dark Realm for further refinement.
"He is my partner, as youthful as I am and stronger than any of you," Elena said, leaning proudly toward Yu Yuan.
"Your partner, a human?" Wilson seemed taken aback, struggling to grasp the concept. "Are you certain?"
Elena nodded vigorously.
