C118 Seeking Death!!

"Crack!"

Lee Yu swung his sword, shattering the ice rocks into fragments. With each piece broken, strands of ice souls attempted to flee. Ready for this moment, Lee Yuchan cast her spiritual sense like a web, ensnaring the escaping souls. Together, Lee Yu and Lee Yuchan gathered the lingering thoughts of fallen experts, weaving them into the web. After the sacrifice, these remnants were absorbed, aiding in Yuchan's growth.

Eventually, all the ice rocks lay in pieces.

"It's about time," Yuchan murmured, her head bowed, then fell silent. The spiritual sense web remained, entwined with numerous souls and remnants, offered up in sacrifice and drawn into her earthly soul.

Lee Yu gazed in the direction Yu Yuan had departed, his emotions tangled. There was a time when the young master of the Yu family from Asvetaesi barely registered in his mind. Despite his aunt's warnings about the forbidden area, Yu Yuan had never truly mattered to him. Even after witnessing Yu Yuan's impressive performance in the Land of Trials, Lee Yu had simply admired him, seeing him as a future pillar for the Silvermoon Empire.

But now, Yu Yuan had changed. Stepping into this world, he seemed transformed, exuding a confidence that commanded Lee Yu's respect. Suddenly, the young master of the Yu family had become a figure of reliance for everyone, naturally assuming a position of authority, even over his aunt.

Yu Yuan had once been passive, driven by circumstances, reluctant to lead. Now, he was a different person altogether.

"What on earth has changed him?" Lee Yu wondered, lost in thought. "He was the one who proposed crossing the forbidden area from the Crimson Sun Empire. How much does he understand about this world? He doesn't even consider the formidable Moonfiend a threat."

The thought of the Moonfiend, which neither the Soul Orb could suppress nor the Gutrender could slay, burdened Lee Yu with worry. Yet Yu Yuan, sensing its power, confidently chose to confront it alone.

...

The once seemingly eternal moon had finally vanished. The blazing sun was obscured by dense clouds, leaving the sky a dull grey, with nothing in sight.

Yu Yuan strolled leisurely across the desolate, bone-chilling wilderness. At the center of his presence, a dense and violent spiritual energy swirled into a massive vortex. The outer layer of the vortex was a chaotic mix of spiritual energy residue, toxins, unstable flashes of light, and a deathly aura filled with resentment. Closer to Yu Yuan, the spiritual energy was cool and pure, eagerly absorbed by the pores of his Primal Body.

The reversal of the Evil Body Refining technique endowed Yu Yuan with an impressive aura and combat strength, despite his cultivation being only at the early period of Soul Awakening. "The mightiest Moonfiend, the Moonfiend Clan, laughable indeed."

Yu Yuan halted abruptly in the depths of the tumultuous spiritual energy vortex, his face etched with a mocking gaze as he stared ahead. Time seemed to stretch on indefinitely, yet it could have been just a fleeting moment. A cold, slightly awkward voice suddenly broke the silence, "Did you know we were coming?"

"And if I didn't?" Yu Yuan let out a hearty laugh, and the frenzied whirlpool appeared to freeze in place.

In an instant, the debris, lightning, and toxins, along with the strange, malicious aura within the vortex, transformed into stream-like torrents, rushing toward the source of the voice. "Yue Xuan."

A crescent moon, refined by moonlight, rose abruptly, suspended in mid-air. "Moon Shadow Slanted."

The crescent moon oscillated, casting the purest moonlight that shattered the streams of light, lightning, and malicious aura stirred by Yu Yuan. A delicate girl in white, with eyes as green as emeralds, emerged beneath the new moon. The moon's glow seemed to shine exclusively on her, following her every move.

Two other followers materialized, one to her left and the other to her right, after she appeared. They regarded Yu Yuan with impassive, unfeeling stares.

"You should not have come before me again," Yu Yuan said, his face brimming with a warm, sun-like smile, as if breaking through a veil of clouds. "Wasn't it better to flee? Why insist on courting death, pushing your Moonfiend Clan to the brink of extinction?"

"Escape?" The girl in white met his gaze with icy eyes. "To flee and be fugitives in Aetherius? How could we accept that? Our Moonfiend Clan was cast down and sealed here because of that man's repeated sword strikes. Why should we run? Even if we must flee, we will exact a heavy toll!"

"Repeated sword strikes, falling from the sky, sealing..." Yu Yuan savored her words, a playful twinkle in his eye as he chuckled once more. "You're merely a branch of the Moonfiend Clan. If I'm not mistaken, the Moonfiend Clan has never been benevolent. In the cold, dark expanse of the extraterrestrial void, the Moonfiend Clan's methods of hunting other creatures are known to be exceptionally cruel and merciless."

Beyond the vast expanse of the Everlands, peril and slaughter abounded, often with a brutality that defied humanity. Human cultivators, upon refining their Solar Spirit, would boldly venture into the extraterrestrial realms to unravel the mysteries of the sun, moon, and stars. However, even these powerful Solar Spirits could fall prey to the formidable Moonfiend Clan, their souls shattered and consumed as a delicacy by the insatiable Gluttony of the Moonfiends.

Thus, the countless battles that raged in the extraterrestrial realms were not always clear-cut matters of right and wrong. The Moonfiend branch before them, for instance, had been cleaved by the master of the sword spirit and cast down to the Aetherius Continent. Perhaps they had once provoked or wronged him or his kin.

"Our race may well be extinct," lamented the girl in white.

"You were still alive; there was still hope," Yu Yuan said, his eyes narrowing as he shook his head in disbelief. "Yet you chose to court death. Such folly is beyond comprehension."

A flicker of astonishment crossed the girl's emerald eyes. "What makes you so confident?" she challenged.

With a mere thought, the two Moonfiend-possessed followers behind her transformed into streaks of green light. The air crackled and burst as they converged on Yu Yuan, trailing a chilling, eerie luminescence that carried with it an aura of cold, gloom, and life-weary despair.

"Heh," Yu Yuan chuckled, extending his left hand to press the tip of his middle finger to his forehead. A glimmer of sword light, brimming with the essence of the sword's will, seeped from his arm. The icy remnant soul thoughts from the two Moonfiends, upon invading Yu Yuan's mind, were instantly shredded by the indomitable sword's will.

With a casual sweep of his right hand, Yu Yuan summoned a response from the heavens and the earth. "Crack!" A brilliant bolt of lightning, teeming with innumerable runes, cascaded down like a torrential downpour. One Moonfiend was obliterated on the spot, reduced to a shower of blood. Meanwhile, another streak of sword light burst forth from a fissure in the ground, vanishing as swiftly as it had appeared.

Another Moonfiend's soul was extinguished in an instant, leaving not a single trace behind.

The girl in white, seemingly naive and delicate, watched in shock as two of her subordinates were obliterated by Yu Yuan manipulating the power of the ancient circle. She was frozen, "You, you can already wield the power of the rune circle?"

Despite witnessing it firsthand, she struggled to believe it.

She was acutely aware of the vastness and complexity of this ancient circle. To truly operate and control it, even a cultivator at the Solar Spirit level would seem hard-pressed.

The sword was missing, and Yu Yuan, who had only the sword spirit, hadn't completed the transformation of any of the three souls of heaven, earth, and man. How was he able to harness the power of this grand formation?

"The Moonfiend of the heavens, I do not know, but those on earth will be eradicated today."
