C1186 There Are Many Mysteries!
The Starbeast was hairless, its skin gleaming and translucent, allowing a clear view of the crystal-like bones beneath. Tiny, starshard-like spots within the bones twinkled in the dimness, casting a soft glow.
The Starbeast, an alien beast from the extraterrestrial realms, varied in the nobility of its bloodline. However, the most powerful and unique Starbeasts were almost exclusively found within the Starborn Domain, a fact Yu Yuan was well aware of.
Thus, when Yu Yuan encountered these Starbeasts in the restricted area, he was not taken aback. What did astonish him, however, was the presence of Lunarphites among them!
He had recently encountered the remains of a Lunarphite of Divine Level status in a resurrection site prepared by the Great Demon God Grec, leaving a lasting impression on him. Now, here in the Lower Continent of Zekrica, he was faced with more Lunarphites, which he recognized instantly.
Lunarphites, the fiends of the Everlands, were an enigma in this place. Moreover, these Lunarphites seemed to lack spiritual wisdom, which only deepened the mystery.
The rule among the evilkind of the Everlands stated that once a race produced a Dark Deity, the offspring of that race would be born with exceptional intelligence, regardless of the Dark Deity's fate. Such a race would be regarded as evilkind, transcending the category of mere beasts.
With the rise of a tenth-level Dark Deity within the Lunarphite Clan, shouldn't the entire clan have ascended to greatness, with each newborn opening their eyes to spiritual wisdom? How could these Lunarphites lack intelligence?
As Yu Yuan pondered in amazement, his attention was drawn to the sky, where a thunder vortex swirled with intense activity. Lightning crackled within, sending fine bolts cascading down to the earth below.
Beneath this natural phenomenon, lightning sables with almond-shaped eyes and razor-sharp teeth eagerly absorbed the electrical energy. Spread across seven or eight thunder vortexes, which spanned roughly ten acres, were dozens of these creatures.
Yu Yuan was taken aback once more. He knew the lightning sable to be a Fellbeast unique to the Everlands, a rare sight in any other Domain.
The Lunarphites, lightning sables, and Starbeasts, capable of absorbing the luminescence of stars, coexisted peacefully in this forbidden realm. This tranquil cohabitation sparked Yu Yuan's curiosity and interest in Zekrica for the first time.
Why was this so?
The thought had barely formed when Mi Ting's startled scream made Yu Yuan frown.
Her outcry immediately drew the attention of the distant Starbeasts, Lunarphites, and lightning sables.
These alien beasts and Fellbeasts, with their fourth and fifth level combat prowess, sensed an intruder. Their demon energy and vital essence surged with a sudden, savage cruelty.
Their lack of infighting did not imply a gentle nature. In fact, both Lunarphites and lightning sables were notoriously ferocious in the Everlands.
With a hiss, two thunder vortexes, seemingly at the behest of the lightning sables, shifted through the void, heading straight for Yu Yuan.
Yu Yuan flashed a mischievous grin, producing a bladeless sword sheath in his hand. In that instant, the rich spiritual energy from his Golden Sanctum's little world was poised for action.
Devoid of vital energy and Soul Power, he still had the confidence that his well-honed physique, wielding the sword sheath, could vanquish all the alien beasts and Fellbeasts below the sixth level.
Sheer numbers often didn't equate to an advantage.
He even harbored a secret anticipation.
This strange land, possibly crafted by the Starborn noblewoman Denise herself, held secrets he was eager to uncover.
His unintended intrusion might be somewhat improper, but if he were defending himself against a siege of alien beasts and Fellbeasts, retaliating in self-defense surely wouldn't be overstepping, would it?
"Come."
Yu Yuan brandished the sword sheath, its pointed end challenging the Starbeasts and Lunarphites.
The Lunarphites responded with chest-thumping roars before retreating, slowly and uneasily, into the shadows.
The howls of the Lunarphite sent a wave of unease through the Starbeasts and lightning sables, their eyes wide with terror as they backed away.
Yu Yuan was at a loss for words.
"They are afraid of the sister you're carrying on your back."
Mi Ting, concerned for their safety, stayed close behind Yu Yuan, offering a timid reminder.
It was then that Yu Yuan realized the truth in Mi Ting's words. The alien beasts and Fellbeasts, hastily retreating as if to escape, appeared to be staring at him.
But in truth, their gaze was fixed on Chen Qinghuang, who was still unconscious on his back.
The First Female Emperor of All Ages from the Everlands, even in slumber, emitted an aura that allowed the keenly sensitive alien beasts and Fellbeasts to detect the ultimate truth of destruction and death. They quickly assessed that the Songbird Queen was not an entity they dared to provoke.
Even a dormant, terrifying giant beast remained a threat; as long as it lived, a mere shift in its position could annihilate them.
Their only option was to flee.
In an instant, the alien beasts and Fellbeasts that Yu Yuan had considered a feast vanished from his sight, leaving him with a sense of regret.
Narrowing his eyes, he surveyed the landscape ahead, noting the abundance of trees, spiritual herbs, and exotic flowers, all seemingly drawing sustenance from the moonlight and starlight.
Many of these plants harbored peculiar energies, making them prime candidates for medicinal concoctions.
Yet, most of these flora were unfamiliar to him, clearly not native to the Everlands.
"In the Upper Continent, there are Tranquilherbs, and in the Lower Continent, Sunfire Blooms, along with numerous spiritual herbs from the Everlands. And to my surprise, there are Lunarphites and lightning sables here too..."
As Yu Yuan stroked his chin, a bizarre notion took shape in his mind.
He had a hunch that someone had deliberately transplanted the Everlands' magic plants and bred its Fellbeasts.
Who would go to such lengths to create a Zekrica within the Starborn-controlled Star River, replicating the structure of the Everlands and populating it with its unique flora and fauna? What was their endgame?
Were they constructing a counterfeit Everlands as an exhibit for the Starborn progeny?
Yu Yuan was beset by doubts once again.
"We should head back. This area is off-limits, and we can't afford to take any risks," Mi Ting urged, her loyalty to Princess Denise unwavering. She was well aware that the region teemed with alien beasts, making it a place of great peril and uncertainty, and she was intent on leaving.
"Getting in is the easy part, but leaving is another story," Yu Yuan said, turning to glance at the path they had taken. He let out a wry chuckle and shook his head. "It won't be easy to go back. There's a wall imbued with cosmic energy in the area we came through. If you don't believe me, try to return the same way we came."
Mi Ting, taken aback, spun around to look but saw nothing.
Confused, she did as Yu Yuan suggested and attempted to retrace her steps.
Boom!
A dark green wall materialized out of nowhere, its interior flickering with starlight that cast a mysterious force, quelling her bloodline and soul.
Now, Mi Ting had no choice but to believe.
Yu Yuan smirked and cast a glance at the wall, which was growing increasingly luminous. "Calm down, there's no need to hurry back. Given your current bloodline level, you lack the strength to break through the wall. You've come this far; you might as well join me for a bit longer. Once I've crafted the poison and the time comes, Princess Denise will send the Voidfarer to retrieve me."
With that, he pressed on deeper into the territory.
He had a hunch that the Starborn noblewoman was watching his every move from within the castle on the Upper Continent, using a mirror-like holy weapon.
He trusted his instincts.
Mi Ting, paying him no mind, stubbornly continued to challenge the star-absorbing wall. But with her insufficient bloodline level, her efforts were in vain.
After several attempts, she resigned herself to the futility of her actions. By then, Yu Yuan, with Chen Qinghuang in tow, had already moved on ahead.
Fearful of attracting the attention of the alien beasts and Fellbeasts, Mi Ting had no choice but to quickly catch up.
Half an hour later, Yu Yuan halted in a secluded cavern, his expression somber and his eyes emitting a faint, cold glow.
The deep cave likely served as a passageway connected to the Upper Continent. Pellet, Guoli, and other members of the Moonlit Wanderers were probably somewhere on the Lower Continent, using such a cave passageway to undertake the long journey to the Upper Continent.
His expression was somber, but the reason for his peculiar mood wasn't the passageway itself. Rather, it was the sight of the skeletal remains scattered near the cave. These were not the bones of any Otherkin from Zekrica, but those of humans! More specifically, they were the most ordinary mortals from the Everlands, individuals who had not embarked on the path of cultivation, with bones showing no signs of refinement.
How could mortals be found in Zekrica? Whether it was the former Boulderdawn or the current five supreme forces, only cultivators at the Divine Level of Solar Spirit were permitted to venture out into the Star River to hunt Otherkin. Cultivators below this threshold lacked the qualifications to breach the solid walls of the Everlands.
Mortals, especially those who had never practiced cultivation, were as weak as insects when faced with alien beasts and Otherkin from beyond. Logically, they should never be found in the extraterrestrial Star River! The Everlands were as secure as a fortress, making it nearly impossible for Otherkin experts to abduct mortals from the Aetherius Empire right under the noses of the five supreme forces, let alone use their Voidfarer warships to break through the wall and escape.
"Zekrica!"
