C1373 The Blood of the Beast
The collapse of the little worlds within the Glimmerdrift Nebula came to a halt, all thanks to Yu Yuan.
In the dark, icy expanse of the starry sea, the snow bear scratched its head in bewilderment. With its luminous eyes fixed on the direction of the River of Swords, it watched the Abyssal Leviathan struggle in vain to break free, appearing somewhat perplexed.
Then, a surge of immense joy and relief washed over it!
It had braced itself for a deadly confrontation with the Abyssal Leviathan, determined to delay the creature's attempt to seize Yu Yuan's body at all costs—even if it meant the end of the Glimmerdrift Nebula.
Its goal was to buy as much time as possible for Yu Yuan, hoping the arrival of the Chamber of Commerce and the Boulderdawn would turn the tide.
For this purpose, it was willing to sacrifice its life!
Its sole desire was for its lifeblood to nurture new life within the moon.
It believed that Yu Yuan, the custodian of the Dragon Slaying Stage, might one day use the offspring it had sired to trace back to its bloodline and resurrect it.
It was well aware of who Yu Yuan was!
What it hadn't anticipated was that Yu Yuan, yet to awaken his three souls or refine his primordial spirit, could still harness the power of the River of Swords to restrain the Abyssal Leviathan, thwarting its malevolent intentions.
Hmm!
It let out a low growl, sensing the true Titanblade now assailing the Abyssal Leviathan amidst the numerous crimson meteorites that vexed the beast the most.
Even the snow bear was unaware of when the Divine Sword had arrived at the ocean's depths.
Could it be near the Wintermaw?
The snow bear was filled with confusion and uncertainty, its mind teeming with unanswered questions.
As the de facto sovereign of the Glimmerdrift Nebula, it considered the Frost Star concealed within the Wintermaw as an extension of itself.
Yet, despite this connection, the Titanblade had arrived mysteriously at the Wintermaw's secret location without its knowledge!
With a mighty roar, it directed its fury towards the Star River, where the thirty-six towering totem poles stood.
These colossal totem poles, reaching thousands of meters into the sky and spanning hundreds of acres in girth, shimmered with gold, black, and deep blue hues. Intricate and exotic demonic scripts adorned each one, a testament to their ancient power.
The demonic scripts, reminiscent of ancient evilkind manifesting in their primeval forms from millions of years past, shimmered into existence.
At that moment, thirty-six towering totem poles, set ablaze with the vital energy of the Abyssal Leviathan, reawakened the ancient demonic scripts. Yet, they became indistinct one after another.
The scripts, initially crisp and clear, rapidly blurred.
They seemed poised to burst forth at any second, ready to tear into Alonso, but it was as if an unseen force had seized them by the throat, yanking them forcibly into the pillars.
Clutching his silver lance and a peculiar crystal orb, Alonso summoned the not-yet-repaired Earth-Tethered Cage, wrapping himself within it and exhaling a deep breath.
He remained at the heart of the Starborne Ritual of Primeval Demons, encircled by numerous totem poles stretching up to the stars. Yet, the world that once threatened to collapse space and obliterate all life, akin to a chaotic inferno, had fragmented in an instant. No longer was he engulfed by the trembling demon energy.
"What's happened?"
Alonso, spear in hand, ascended slowly, noting that none of the massive totem poles of the evilkind were assaulting him anymore.
It seemed as though every ounce of power the Abyssal Leviathan had poured into them had been siphoned away.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
In that moment, the thirty-six totem poles soared through the void, heading towards where the River of Swords was meant to be.
Following their trajectory, Alonso was utterly captivated by the spectacle before him.
He beheld the Abyssal Leviathan, now a titanic fish, surrounded by the River of Swords, a dazzling sea of starry sword light. He watched as countless beams of sword light struck the Leviathan relentlessly.
The sword lights were so brilliant, so piercing, that even at a great distance, his skin felt the sting.
He also witnessed numerous prism-shaped crimson meteors, each delivering successive strikes from the legendary Nine Celestial Slashes upon the Leviathan, tearing away chunks of flesh and silver scales.
The formidable cosmic giant beast, much like the Dire Bear before, bled profusely into the void.
Drops of blood, large as millstones and weighing tons, brimmed with immense vital energy.
The eyes of the Abyssal Leviathan, forged from the essence of the sun and moon, were now flooded with blood. Glancing over, its lunar and solar eyes appeared as though submerged in vast lakes of crimson.
Hovering steadfastly above the pitiable Abyssal Leviathan was the Dragon Slaying Stage, immovable in the air. Yu Yuan stood as rigid as a sword, one hand gripping the sheath, head bowed, his gaze coldly fixed on the Abyssal Leviathan below, which was under siege by a myriad of sword lights.
His stare at the Abyssal Leviathan was reminiscent of a legendary, undefeated God-King surveying his vanquished foes.
Alonso involuntarily closed his eyes. After a brief pause, he shook his head gently and looked up once more. The scene remained unchanged. A jolt of shock ran through him; his mouth agape, his body rigid, motionless for an extended period. It was as if his soul had momentarily detached from his body, leaving him unable to resonate with his own spirit.
It wasn't until the Dire Bear's howls pierced the air that he snapped back to reality. Gradually, the sensation of his soul reuniting with his body returned. He closed his eyes once more, lingering in darkness a bit longer before reopening them to look again at the Abyssal Leviathan...
After a significant pause, the Shura commander inhaled deeply and whispered in disbelief, "How is this possible?" His words echoed those of the Grand Sword Immortal, Jun Chen, the Death Crane, and others.
"Great Commander!"
Ciara and Demian, the two surviving platinum Shura, hurried over, converging near Alonso. Ciara, in particular, felt as though she had just awoken from a nightmare in which she had been the Abyssal Leviathan's puppet, repeatedly defying Sabonis's inquiries.
Her awakening coincided with the moment the Abyssal Leviathan was encircled by the Heaven-Opening Sword Array. "My king! I must find you immediately!" Ciara exclaimed. As she spoke, the Frost Well she had refined abruptly left her body and landed at Alonso's feet.
The moment his foot touched the Frost Well, Alonso's soul seamlessly connected with that of the Blood King, Sabonis. The vital energy from Sabonis surged from the well's depths, flooding into Alonso's body with such intensity that his slender frame seemed to inflate.
His shoulders, knees, and elbows, where natural spikes had broken off, now regrew, emerging sharper and more chilling than before.
Demian, Ciara, and the other two platinum Shura were overcome with fervor, instantly aware that the Blood King, Sabonis, had perceived the cataclysmic upheaval in the Glimmerdrift Nebula. Though unable to be present, he had channeled a deluge of power into Alonso, invigorating him from afar.
Alonso's recovery was swift, and he emerged even more formidable than before.
"Chi! Chi!"
The Earth-Tethered Cage, once rent by the Stardust Blade, wove itself back together as if by magic during Alonso's recuperation. The golden lightning and silver threads within it appeared to grow denser.
Alonso's expression was unreadable. He was in covert communication with Sabonis, his gaze shifting between the Dire Bear and the Abyssal Leviathan encircled by the Heaven-Opening Sword Array.
"Blood of the giant beast!"
From his vantage point on the Dragon Slaying Stage, Yu Yuan observed the massive droplets of blood, each as large as a millstone, escaping from the body of the Abyssal Leviathan, prompting a subtle shift in his demeanor.
Boom!
In an instant, the Dragon Slaying Stage teleported beneath the besieged Abyssal Leviathan. Crafted from World-Sundering Stone, the stage expanded a millionfold, resembling an inverted umbrella catching the life force-rich droplets of blood.
Each drop of the Abyssal Leviathan's blood that hit the Dragon Slaying Stage seemed to fall into a different realm, creating a metaphorical lake of life.
The Dragon Slaying Stage, in its wonder, collected every drop of blood from the Abyssal Leviathan.
Inside the violet-gold dragon egg, the heartbeat of the Titan Spinosaurus hatchling quickened as it sensed the blood of its kind raining down.
"Ah!"
Yu Yuan, standing on the Dragon Slaying Stage, watched as the Abyssal Leviathan's blood merged with the earth, seamlessly becoming part of the stage like water joining the ocean.
Beneath the surface, a pure life force surged into the violet-gold dragon egg, causing it to radiate with regal purple and gold light.
