C1432 No One Cares
Yu Yuan offered a nonchalant smile.
A cultivator at the Spirit Walk Realm, dressed as a counselor, suddenly unleashed a spiritual weapon in response to Qu Yun's thunderous roar. A lantern adorned with numerous gems burst forth from his forehead, the tiny jewels in the air flashing with a burst of divine power.
Then, the lantern materialized within Yu Yuan's Mindscape.
Within the curious lantern, the cultivator's Lunar Spirit emerged, sneering in Yu Yuan's little world, "When you left the Moonfall Sanctuary, you were merely at the Spirit Walk level. It's been mere decades; there's no way you could have ascended to the Solar Spirit. I..."
His voice cut off abruptly.
He had failed to find Yu Yuan's heaven soul within the Mindscape, but instead, he was met with the projection of a Solar Spirit.
Yu Yuan's concealed Solar Spirit cast a deep red blood shadow across the Mindscape, exuding a terrifying might.
Realizing his grave mistake and the outdated nature of his intelligence, the man attempted to envelop his Lunar Spirit with the lantern and flee.
"Don't gauge my progress by your own experiences."
Yu Yuan's Lunar Spirit transformed into a menacing gray specter within his own Mindscape, engulfing both the lantern and its occupant like a perilous gray sea.
To the man, it felt as though an evil spirit, dormant for eons, had devoured him in the blink of an eye.
He couldn't withstand even a few seconds before both his Lunar Spirit and the lantern, hardly worthy of being called a Horcrux, were ground into ethereal fragments.
Simultaneously, Yu Yuan, like a liger amidst sheep, drew the Baneblade, Bloodhell, and unleashed a sphere of crimson blood, swiftly executing the assailant.
With effortless strokes of his blade, he then dispatched each person who had not attained the Solar Spirit level near Qu Yun.
"Those beneath the Solar Spirit level, I've taken care of first. Master Qu, would you say I've changed since the old days?"
Amidst their banter, the ground around Qu Yun was strewn with blood-drenched corpses.
Their vitality too feeble, the Baneblade, Bloodhell, seemed to disdain consuming them, opting instead to harvest their souls.
Lian Hu, head bowed, gazed at Yu Yuan, his lips quivering, yet he uttered not a word.
Three hundred years ago, Yu Yuan would often signal his intention to those he sought to kill, along with a few dark disciples he had recruited. It was Lian Hu, alongside those dark disciples, who became the blades in Yu Yuan's hands, slaughtering all who stood against him. Previously, Yu Yuan had merely issued commands. Little did he expect that, once he had broken free from his own constraints, he would possess the power to effortlessly annihilate anyone below the Solar Spirit level with his own strength, all while maintaining an air of composure.
The Yu Yuan who now stood before them, with his terrifying combat prowess, began to merge in Lian Hu's mind with the image of Hong Qi from years past—a man full of devious schemes who had once relied on their support.
"Hong Qi!" In the depths of Herb Mountain, Chi Ye's face was etched with shock and fear. He could scarcely believe that Yu Yuan would actually dare to swiftly eliminate all of Qu Yun's henchmen on Healing Island.
"Mr. Hong..." Zhong Ying, collapsed on the ground, looked dazed, still struggling to comprehend what had just occurred.
"You've driven me to this," Qu Yun declared, stamping his foot once more. The array concealed beneath the earth was linked to his soul. Intense flames surged into his body, consumed by the three fire dragons he had been secretly nurturing. In an instant, the fire dragons burst forth from his palms and abdomen.
Despite being the antithesis of frost wyrms, these fire dragons shared a similar lineage. As they left his body, they were no thicker than a toddler's arm and only half a meter long. Yet by the time they reached Yu Yuan, they had grown to a full meter in length.
"Seventh-level fire dragons should possess spiritual wisdom, yet their souls are muddled. Did you forcefully erase their nascent intelligence?" Yu Yuan mused, shaking his head. With a casual flick, he sent the Baneblade skyward and, with precise movements, clutched the necks of two fire dragons in his hands. Their heads and bodies continued to swell, but their necks, firmly gripped by Yu Yuan, could no longer expand, giving them an exceedingly bizarre appearance. Their heads were large, their bodies robust, but their necks remained tragically slender, as if they might snap at any moment.
The two fire dragons' dark red Demonic Eyes brimmed with fear and panic. Their flood dragon tails whipped the ground furiously, cracking the hard rock beneath and sending stones scattering in all directions.
They were desperate to escape, but when Yu Yuan seized their necks, their frantic struggles appeared utterly in vain.
The third fire dragon had coiled itself around Yu Yuan's waist, its head menacing as though it aimed to sever his neck.
At that moment, a crystalline red arm extended from the middle elixir field within Yu Yuan's chest, gently encircling the neck of the third fire dragon and yanking both its head and body into Yu Yuan's personal vitality domain.
Yu Yuan, with a firm grip on the remaining two fire dragons, shoved them into the acupoints of his chest with equal force.
The middle elixir field in Yu Yuan's chest transformed into a cosmic giant beast capable of swallowing the Domain whole. The three now-enlarged fire dragons were forcibly subdued and stuffed into the vitality domain.
This eerie spectacle sent shivers down the spines of the onlookers, leaving them with ashen faces.
The brutal and bloodthirsty Hong Qi, with his inner darkness magnified and wielding such formidable power, posed an ominous question for the Order of Healing.
A wave of panic swept through the crowd.
"Did you receive these three fire dragons from Shadow's Keep, or did you capture them yourself?"
Looking up, Yu Yuan addressed Qu Yun with a smile, "Considering your level of cultivation, erasing the spiritual wisdom of three fire dragons seems quite challenging."
"I have no idea what you're talking about!" Qu Yun retorted.
"You still don't seem to grasp the gravity of your predicament," Yu Yuan said with a smile, deciding not to waste any further time on Qu Yun.
The Baneblade reemerged, releasing seven sizable Bloodwraiths that swarmed around Qu Yun.
The Bloodwraiths frantically pressed against Qu Yun's body, some reaching his Mindscape, others penetrating his little world, and yet others invading his middle elixir field.
His Lunar Spirit, Solar Spirit, and dominant soul were swiftly devoured by the Baneblade's former wielders.
As for his body, it was so depleted of vitality that the seven Bloodwraiths disregarded it entirely and cast it aside.
"I have no interest in bantering with you; Mindflay will suffice."
Yu Yuan grumbled with impatience.
Almost immediately, seven Bloodwraiths emerged in succession from Qu Yun's body and returned to the Baneblade.
At that moment, Yu Yuan's Lunar Spirit entered the inner world of the Baneblade in a flash. He gazed upon a moderately sized red soul ball and sensed Qu Yun's presence emanating from it.
He then employed an arcane technique, Mindflay, an offshoot of Wraithbinding.
The Lunar Spirit, a mirror image of Yu Yuan, extended its left hand into the red soul ball and began to stir.
Like turning the pages of a book, he sifted through Qu Yun's memories spanning five hundred years. Every person Qu Yun had met, every event he had experienced, and every action he had taken—all were vivid memory sparkles now being deciphered by Yu Yuan's Lunar Spirit.
Yu Yuan seemed to become an observer, positioned above Qu Yun's head, witnessing the unfolding scenes of his life.
"You, you've killed Qu Yun!"
Chi Ye, emerging from the cave, was visibly shaken, struggling to come to terms with the scene unfolding before him.
Qu Yun and his allies had not lasted even fifteen minutes before they all perished.
The foes that had once constrained him were now nothing more than lifeless bodies on the ground, and he was no longer bound by their presence.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Above Healing Island, clusters of fiery clouds vanished, and the array that had enveloped the island dissipated with Qu Yun's demise.
Lian Hu licked his parched lips and quietly stepped back, leaning against a rock to observe Yu Yuan.
A wave of immense confusion washed over him.
Qu Yun was the Solar Spirit of the Order of Healing. In the intricate web of the Sundering Isles, his brutal end at the hands of Yu Yuan seemed to cause no ripples. Why was there no reaction?
"Shatterblade!" Van Heqing was said to be in constant meditation on Sword Island—had he not noticed?
Within the Chamber of Commerce, two Solar Spirit-level cultivators had the means to monitor battles from Celestial Isle through special instruments, yet there was no sign of them.
Was there not a tacit understanding, an accord among the five supreme powers and Boulderdawn?
Why was Yu Yuan left unchecked?
