C1476 It Was Hard to Tell Right from Wrong!
"Which one did I choose?"
White Bone was taken aback, jabbing a bony finger at himself. A ghostly white light flickered in his pupils, illuminating memories before bursting brilliantly like fireworks.
He traversed the world in his skeletal form, his life's experiences flashing through his mind in an instant.
The memories were sharp and distinct. He was certain that with his current state, it was impossible for any to be missing.
Yet, he found no recollection related to choosing Yu Yuan.
The Solar Spirit, wielding the Baneblade, called forth seven Bloodwraiths and engaged in fierce combat with Huangyin. Even Yu Yuan's real body was marked by a strange, puzzled expression.
Was it White Bone who chose me? Yu Yuan pondered deeply, feeling that it just didn't add up.
If Yuan Qingxi's statement wasn't meant for White Bone but for him, he would question the veracity of Yuan Qingxi's words.
Nevertheless, it was clear that Yuan Qingxi wouldn't dare deceive White Bone.
The Voodoo Shade, transformed from Youling, had appeared millennia ago. Since Youling had not reached the ultimate realm, he had never awakened.
The Evil King, Yu Xi, perished seven hundred years prior. He had been roused by Yuan Qingxi's scroll after advancing to the primordial spirit realm.
Still, the timeline didn't align...
Regarding White Bone, three hundred years ago, he might have been merely a Spectre in the Land of Terror, or an even less significant ghost, far from the point of awakening.
Such a White Bone had not regained self-awareness, and Yuan Qingxi, bound by his command, would not use the scroll to rouse him.
"Highly unlikely!"
White Bone's brow furrowed, his demeanor growing icy with displeasure.
Yuan Qingxi, who had trapped the Voodoo Shade within the body of a gray fox and crafted a new Evil Curse, became flustered at his anger and hastily clarified, "Master, the scroll in your possession is a supreme evil artifact of our Bloodbrawlers. It holds not only your memories but also a fragment of your consciousness."
"This consciousness possesses intelligence and sentience, tasked with safeguarding the memories you've forgotten. However, it lacks the potential to grow or evolve and can never leave the scroll."
"Think of it this way: it's akin to a human without limbs and flesh, left with only a brain. Within this brain remains a trace of spirit and intellect, capable of using the scroll to convey commands to me."
For many years, the spiritual sense you've lost has guided me to undertake numerous actions," Yuan Qingxi said with his head bowed and in a tone of utmost respect. "Should you choose to unfurl the scroll, the cluster of consciousness imbued with spiritual wisdom that is rightfully yours will instantly merge with you. It will bring forth all the memories you've sealed away, enabling you to remember everything and truly awaken."
He was brimming with anticipation, eager for White Bone to succumb to curiosity, open the scroll, and with Youyu's form and divinity, lead the Bloodbrawlers back to prominence in the world above.
"A part of my consciousness? A cluster of intelligence? Capable of thought, yet without a space to grow..."
White Bone's eyes gleamed as he tightened his grip on the scroll. Intuitively, he felt there was indeed something within the scroll that evoked a profound sense of kinship.
That something lay within the scroll he held, awaiting his initiative to open it and integrate with him, to become a part of him.
"Was it I who made this choice?"
White Bone spoke to himself, his gaze shifting to Yu Yuan in bewilderment. He was unclear why the consciousness within the scroll showed a preference for Yu Yuan alone.
"Indeed, it was you! Without your command, why would I go to the lengths of constructing the Circle of Spectral Rebirth for him, to ensure his meticulous reincarnation? I must admit, I was quite taken aback when you first issued that order."
"However..."
Yuan Qingxi elongated his tone, "You were correct! The boy's talent is truly exceptional. Had he joined us three hundred years ago, he would have been your most formidable lieutenant!"
"Eh!"
The elder of the Bloodbrawlers let out a sudden exclamation. Both White Bone and Yu Yuan turned their attention to him.
"Even though he did not join our Bloodbrawlers, even though his awakening came three hundred years later, Master, it was still with his aid that you ventured into the Land of Terror. His assistance enabled you to rapidly ascend from Spectre to Ghost King! And it was through his actions that you surpassed Dhoreus, becoming the mightiest in the Land of Terror."
"It was also because of him that the Dragon Slaying Stage was moved, allowing you to ascend seamlessly to the rank of Supreme God of Ghosts!"
Yuan Qingxi was visibly shaken.
"Could it be... Could it possibly be..."
His gaze, filled with astonishment, flitted between Yu Yuan and White Bone.
Reeling from the impact, Yuan Qingxi's soul and body both seemed to quiver. "Could it be that you never truly failed? The so-called destruction wrought by Zhong Chichen merely caused a minor deviation in the thread of destiny! And ultimately, it was he who assisted you in ascending to divinity, bestowing upon you the power you wield now!"
Yuan Qingxi's eyes blazed with fervor as he immediately prostrated himself.
"Master, you are indeed the eternal and supreme leader of the Bloodbrawlers, revered for tens of thousands of years! Your magical prowess and foresight are beyond measure, truly incomparable to my own."
His adoration for Yuan Qingxi was heartfelt.
White Bone, clutching the scroll, fell silent at his declaration, equally perplexed by the unfolding events, his curiosity piqued to the brim by Yuan Qingxi.
White Bone was indeed tempted to unfurl the scroll and unveil its secrets.
"Yuan Qingxi, you truly have the audacity to speak such words!"
Yu Yuan marveled, his head spinning from Yuan Qingxi's bold assertions, while the Soulforge Matrix within the Crucible of Evil ceased its operation.
Over 70,000 spectres, demons, and incorporeal spirits were at that moment being transmuted into Bane.
Huangyin, who had been relentlessly cleaved by the Baneblade Bloodhell, finally bore visible fissures.
From these fissures spilled not blood, but a prismatic radiance.
The demonform that Huangyin had cultivated was merely scratched, yet the purple dark fire within his eye sockets blazed fiercely.
This indicated that he had withstood the torrential onslaught of Yu Yuan's Solar Spirit.
"I haven't spoken out of turn."
Yuan Qingxi grumbled, then, with a look of uncertainty, found himself at a loss for what to do next.
The gray fox sealed its lips as the Voodoo Shade within coalesced into a sinister Evil Curse, primed for his command.
Yet, after Yuan Qingxi's analysis, he began to suspect that the spiritual sense within the scroll might be correct after all.
An audacious thought uncontrollably surfaced: could this Yu Yuan character be a member of Boulderdawn by his master's design?
Was he, in essence, still one of the Bloodbrawlers? And was it his master's orchestration that enabled him to aid in the ascent to the pinnacle of the Land of Terror, to stand as the God of Ghosts before him?
Master, upon unfurling the scroll and recalling all that has transpired, can we awaken this young man and make him realize that he has always been a part of the Bloodbrawlers?
Yuan Qingxi's mind was abuzz with thoughts, leading to his hesitation in invoking the Evil Curse.
He was eager to request the painting from White Bone. Employing the Bloodbrawlers' mystique, he could send a soul into the scroll to gauge the consciousness within.
"Huangyin! You truly are cunning!"
Suddenly, Yu Yiyi emerged from the mouth of the Crucible of Evil.
Her face stern, she watched as Yu Yuan's Solar Spirit Body wielded the Baneblade against the Terra Fiend Ancestor. "I thought the mightiest Banes like you had perished long ago. To my surprise, you've managed to gather and revive two more!"
Her words were accompanied by a transmission of her remnant soul's sensory images into Yu Yuan's mind.
Yu Yuan instantly understood that two additional tenth-level Banes, akin to Huangyin and Shadowfox, had been resurrected and amassed by Huangyin.
These intelligent and spiritually aware Banes naturally fell under Huangyin's command, enslaved to his will.
"It looks like you've been coveting the Crucible of Evil for quite some time."
Yu Yuan flashed a sly smile. "If you're so desperate to wield the Crucible of Evil, why not venture to the Embers Sea? You've known all along that the fractured cauldron lies at the ocean's depths!"
"He's scared of being detected by the Devil Palace," Yu Yiyi scoffed. "He only dares to strut around here. Away from this murky lake, he's not nearly as powerful."
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Four colossal monsters materialized beside Huangyin as if on cue.
Yu Yuan's Solar Spirit Body, locked in combat with Huangyin, was instantly on high alert. With a sweep of the Baneblade, he swiftly absorbed seven Bloodwraiths.
"This is fortuitous. Forming the highest echelon of Banes is no small feat, and here they are, coming right to us. We should accept them with open arms."
