C1489 The Nightmare of the Terra Fiend!
Yuan Qingxi, Huangyin, and the specter within the wooden tombstone hovered at the edge of the Seven-Colored Lake. The lake's vibrant waters were cleaved into segments by several white blades, and all fingers pointed accusingly at Xuanying.
Unable to communicate with Rovi, and too apprehensive to confront him directly, they directed their grievances at Xuanying instead. Their hope was that Xuanying could rein in Rovi, preventing him from desecrating the Terra Fiend's holy site over a mere skirmish.
They were well aware that Rovi, being a Voidweaver, held little regard for the fate of this tainted world. His only known desire was the Dragon Slaying Stage, beyond which his intentions remained unclear.
"It's not Rovi! Stop blaming us!" Xuanying, whose spirit was intertwined with Rovi's, desperately tried to clear the air to prevent any misinterpretation by Yuan Qingxi and the others.
She and Rovi were in deep mental communion, probing into what exactly had transpired. Xuanying couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss.
"The individual you selected for demonization... there's something peculiar about them," Rovi responded.
With a tearing sound, hundreds of blades imbued with space magic relentlessly sliced through Loong Jie's extensive form. The blades clashed against the golden scales of Loong Jie, sparking against the Everlands' native rules.
Divine light scattered in every direction, and numerous delicate space rifts attempted to form around Loong Jie. Yet, each rift that emerged, though capable of severely wounding the old dragon, seemed to be disrupted by an unseen force, preventing them from fully opening.
The space rifts remained incomplete, unable to evolve into the next onslaught. Tan Junshan's Divine Visage, now reduced to a speck of silver light, flitted about like a firefly, evading the concealed Warp Gates.
Rovi had once firmly tracked Tan Junshan's movements, but suddenly, he lost sight of Tan Junshan's trajectory and could no longer project his consciousness to predict Tan Junshan's inevitable path.
Chen Liangquan, clutching the fragmented crystal ball and utilizing the Dawnbringers' lineage to cleanse the land, appeared to have been aided by a mysterious force, narrowly escaping the stealthily approaching Warp Gate.
Rovi sensed the Cosmic Order of the Everlands brimming with hostility toward him.
This animosity seemed to stem from the pure-blooded golden dragon, which had somehow connected with a wondrous aspect of this realm.
Zhong Chichen, emerging from the furnace, appeared to be in sync with the golden dragon, even harnessing the space magic of the Seven-Colored Dragon at the Dragon Slaying Stage.
"The Sect Master of the Order of Healing, Zhong Chichen? What... could he possibly do?"
Xuanying's violet gaze suddenly locked onto Zhong Chichen, intent on using her mastery of Spirit Magic, derived from the Terra Fiend, to cast light upon his body and soul.
Whoosh!
A dark and enigmatic eye formed from chilling Soul Power, seeking to shroud Zhong Chichen's body and peer into his soul.
The shadowy eye, vast and filled with specters, seemed to be a colossal, swirling darkness.
"Shadow Celestial Radiance..."
Zhong Chichen scoffed, effortlessly naming Xuanying's secret Terra Fiend technique, as the dark eye, teeming with specters, converged upon him.
The immense, shadow-like eye devoured him whole.
In an instant, Zhong Chichen vanished into the shadow's depths, his every secret laid bare by the enigmatic gaze.
Yu Yuan, poised to intervene, instead chose to remain an observer, recognizing who Zhong Chichen was.
Yu Yuan refrained from acting.
"Xuanying! He's called out Shadow Celestial Radiance! Be cautious—he shouldn't know the arcane technique you've mastered from the Terra Fiend!"
Huangyin sensed that something was amiss, his attention fixed on Zhong Chichen, catching the sneer that crossed his face.
The eerie dark eye, brimming with specters, engulfed Zhong Chichen.
Xuanying had unleashed the Shadow Celestial Radiance.
Chi!
The purple eye, a symbol of Xuanying, suddenly burst open.
Blood began to stream uncontrollably from the eye!
The vast dark eye that had enveloped Zhong Chichen seemed to be torn apart by countless space rifts, instantly fragmenting into myriad shards of shadow.
Zhong Chichen, clad in a green robe, stood amidst the endless shadow fragments, his gaze meeting the bleeding eye that symbolized Xuanying.
Xuanying's voice, sharp and piercing, reverberated through the air like a demonic wail threatening to shred eardrums. Devils lingering near the Seven-Colored Lake, upon hearing this sound, were compelled to emerge, regardless of their desires.
"You're courting death," Chen Liangquan sneered from midair, infusing a drop of lifeblood into the fragmented orb.
A blinding radiance descended, and the weaker devils, as if consumed by a sacred white fire, swiftly dissipated into smoke and ash. Beneath the purifying glow, even Yuan Qingxi and Huangyin felt discomfort.
How much worse it must be for those devils too feeble to resist Xuanying's demonic call?
"Stop!" Huangyin bellowed in rage.
Devils with any potential for evolution stood no chance in a conflict of this magnitude. Summoned by Xuanying at this moment, they were nothing but sacrificial pawns, their deaths utterly pointless.
"He... he..." Xuanying's shriek gave way to a quivering voice. Her bleeding purple eye, a mark of her specter, repeatedly split and reformed. After the seventh split, the specter finally stabilized, neutralizing Zhong Chichen's retaliatory force.
A tremor that reached deep into the essence of her devil soul welled up within her, triggering memories of the Everlands' Naga ruler's horrific slaughter of countless beings...
The Terra Fiends were mere fodder for the Nagas, slaughtered and refined at whim. Among them was a particularly stunning dragon, fond of using the devil souls of Terra Fiends to augment its own Dragon Soul, having consumed numerous high-ranking ones.
This resplendent dragon, with its vividly colored scales, was a frequent visitor to the Rainbow Ocean. It was said to be enamored with the mist and the glimmering light there, having unraveled the secrets of the lethal toxins and miasmas. The dragon even delved into the depths to immerse itself in the sacred waters of the Seven-Colored Lake, cleansing its form with the vibrant hues.
In time, its very body took on the spectrum of colors. Pleased with its iridescent scales, the dragon embraced a new moniker — the Seven-Colored Dragon.
His dragon form had long been immune to all the filth, acid, and malevolent psionic powers that could corrode the soul.
He had also mastered the intricacies of the filth in this world, making him the bane of the Terra Fiends.
While bathing in the Seven-Colored Lake, he had unraveled the mysteries of the Rainbow Ocean and the Defiled World.
He had indeed mastered these mysteries and etched them into his dragon bloodline, yet he chose not to use them in combat.
He believed that at that time, the Terra Fiends, who had not even birthed a Demon God, practiced filth and various forms of Mind Magic that were nothing more than fringe arts.
Hardly worth a mention.
Such trivialities were beneath an existence as lofty as his, unworthy of his time and effort.
His dragon form kept the Terra Fiends in check, so after his demise, his body was placed on the Dragon Slaying Stage. There, augmented by rune circles and Divine Artifacts, it naturally suppressed the Terra Fiends, hindering their ascension.
The irony of it all...
"What have we done? Did we actually attempt to turn him into a demon?"
Xuanying was on the verge of tears.
"He was able to adapt to the Seven-Colored Lake and assimilate all forms of evil psionic power because he had already penetrated the very cosmic order of this place! His time immersed in the Seven-Colored Lake was no shorter than ours. Our predecessors, the founding Terra Fiends, were all consumed by him!"
"Chronowyrm!"
"Seven-Colored Dragon God!"
Huangyin and Yuan Qingxi exclaimed in unison.
The leaders of the Terra Fiends and the Bloodbrawlers felt as though they had encountered a ghost in broad daylight, shamed and toyed with.
Were they bewitched, or had Zhong Chichen outsmarted them?
Otherwise, who would dare to invite this individual, whose mere name sent shivers down the spines of the entire Terra Fiend race, back to the Rainbow Ocean?
Could there be anything more absurd and unfortunate than this?
