C1490 Wasn't It the Same?
Before the rise of a Great Demon God within the Terra Fiend Clan, before the Bloodbrawlers and Boulderdawn had their Supreme Beings, and while the ancient evilkind still suffered...
The Everlands were dominated by the Nagas!
The Chronowyrm reigned over the Rainbow Ocean and the underground Defiled World.
These two regions, thick with miasma, were considered his personal domains. He was well-versed in their rules and profound meanings, having mastered all forms of tainted power.
Many ancient Terra Fiends, predecessors to Huangyin and Xuanying, had been consumed by him as mere soul nourishment.
Once, he was the apex predator in the food chain of these secretive realms.
Even reborn in human form, his inherent magnetic field enabled him to flawlessly adapt to all impurities.
After all, he had spent a considerable time immersed in the sacred waters of the Terra Fiend Clan at the Seven-Colored Lake.
Following Huangyin's covert assessment, he surmised that his body could become a terrifying "source of filth," convinced that he could morph into a Terra Fiend, an anomaly unlike any other.
Thus, Huangyin and Xuanying went to great lengths to taint him, sparing no effort to lure him to the Rainbow Ocean.
They eagerly anticipated the moment of his complete transformation, the emergence of the "source of filth."
Unbeknownst to them, they had forcefully 'invited' back the Terra Fiend Clan's worst nightmare, a being that once dominated two worlds.
In doing so, they had unwittingly 'summoned' an ancient forebear to the Rainbow Ocean.
At this point, Huangyin and Xuanying were so frustrated they felt like embracing each other and weeping.
What sin had we committed to deserve this?
Why have the heavens treated us so cruelly? Why play such a cruel joke on us?
"Quite intriguing..."
Listening to Huangyin, Yuan Qingxi, and Xuanying's cries of astonishment, Yu Yuan couldn't help but chuckle.
In that instant, it was as if a pathway in his mind had suddenly become clear.
The Chronowyrm naturally counterbalanced the Terra Fiend Clan.
Even if Terra Fiends, Bloodbrawlers, and Boulderdawn all produced Supreme Beings at the same time, ascending to the Demon God tier like Huangyin and Xuanying, they would still find themselves overwhelmingly outmatched in a battle against the Chronowyrm.
The magnificent Seven-Colored Dragon had deciphered all the tainted psionic powers associated with the Terra Fiend Clan, as well as their mastery of Mind Magic.
He was well-versed in the ways of the Terra Fiend Clan, yet they knew nothing of the forces of space and time. What chance did they stand in battle against him?
When faced with the Chronowyrm, the Demon God of the Terra Fiend Clan could do nothing but endure the onslaught...
In the past, the ancient evilkind and Boulderdawn had to join forces with the Terra Fiend to oppose the Nagas, who held two of the most exalted positions.
Despite holding these positions, they were unable to exert their full strength and were utterly dominated by the Seven-Colored Dragon.
In such a predicament...
Naturally, evilkind and Boulderdawn grew discontented. They observed that within Boulderdawn, the three great upper sects, including the Devil Palace, possessed rising talents with formidable strength. These talents had clearly attained the Unbound Realm, yet they were not checked by the Nagas. Ironically, they lacked the seats to ascend to the highest echelons.
To topple the Nagas from their divine pedestal, what could be done to achieve this original goal?
The only option was to slay the great Demon God of the Terra Fiend, freeing up their seats for the emerging talents to claim, thereby enabling them to overcome the Nagas!
Among the two supreme leaders of the Bloodbrawlers was Youyu. Had he too been constrained by the frost wyrm in the past?
If not, how could the remains of the frost wyrm prevent the Bloodbrawlers' mightiest from ascending to Supreme God?
If the answer is affirmative, if the Terra Fiend and the Bloodbrawlers' Supreme God seats proved incapable of withstanding the Seven-Colored Dragon and the frost wyrm, it would confirm that the initial strategy was flawed.
To rectify this error, one must eliminate the supreme beings of the Terra Fiend and Bloodbrawlers, thus providing a stepping stone for those not bound by the Nagas' influence to ascend to divinity.
The ancient evilkind and Boulderdawn must also realize that with the dragons' numbers being so scarce, even if a new Supreme God seat becomes available, there would be no new giant dragon capable of achieving the status of Dragon God.
As soon as the seats were claimed, the only ones who stood to gain were the rising stars of humanity and the evilkind. That's precisely why they had the audacity to proceed as they did.
Huangyin and Xuanying managed to preserve a sliver of their residual souls, transforming into Voodoo Shades. Youyu, another ancestor of the Bloodbrawlers, might still have left his imprint in the world...
Perhaps it was due to Boulderdawn's sense of guilt and remorse that they refrained from completely annihilating them.
After all, they were innocent. Their only fault was that they would have been a liability in the battle, and with the limited number of Supreme God seats, painful sacrifices had to be made for the ultimate victory.
Ultimately, Boulderdawn, leading the Everlands, continued to suppress them for the benefit of humanity and the stability of the Everlands.
This was to prevent the Dragon Gods of the Nagas from dying and leaving new seats vacant, which would allow the deceased from the Bloodbrawlers and Terra Fiend to rise and reclaim their positions at the top.
They were bound to harbor resentment towards Boulderdawn, the evilkind, and the newly ascended human upper sect.
The beneficiaries had risen by stepping on them. They were denied the fruits of victory and were deliberately oppressed.
Should a new supreme power emerge, it would surely bring harm to all parties, shattering the hard-won tranquility of the Everlands and reigniting the flames of war.
Thus, the Dragon Slaying Stage, in its suppression of the Nagas, also ensnared the remains of the Chronowyrm and the frost wyrm.
With these two Divine Dragons providing a natural check, and the power of the Divine Artifact and rune circle reinforcing that balance, the Bloodbrawlers and Terra Fiend had no chance of turning the tide.
"It's truly tragic. It's no wonder there's such deep-seated resentment and bitterness."
Yu Yuan's mind raced through these thoughts, as if he were traversing time and space, witnessing the events of the past.
Suddenly, he grasped the deep-seated enmity that those hidden beneath the earth held towards the five great forces and Boulderdawn.
Their hatred was justified...
They had done no wrong. They were once heroes battling the Nagas, striving to free the world from their tyranny.
Their misfortune was being naturally suppressed by the Chronowyrm and the frost wyrm, and because they had occupied a Supreme God seat.
Because they failed to harness their full strength, the ancient evilkind and Boulderdawn swiftly decided to eliminate them after deliberating.
There might have been some dishonorable dealings involved...
"It's truly tragic," Zhong Chichen murmured with a low chuckle, as if he could read Yu Yuan's thoughts. He turned his head, and the sneer on his face caught Yu Yuan off guard.
Zhong Chichen's expression and gaze seemed to accuse: Wasn't this all your doing?
Me?
Yu Yuan abruptly reined in his wandering thoughts, not daring to delve any deeper.
In his first life, he was the master of the Dragon Slaying Stage, where he had discarded the remains of the Chronowyrm and the Frost Wyrm.
As Yu Yiyi had put it, the leaders and founders of the Bloodbrawlers and the Terra Fiend had all been vanquished by his hand...
"Uh..."
Embarrassment spread across Yu Yuan's face.
"They've been terribly unfortunate to encounter you and your fellow disciples. It was so in the past, and unexpectedly, it remains the same now."
Zhong Chichen's words carried a hidden meaning.
Back when he was the Seven-Colored Dragon, he had enslaved and oppressed the entire Terra Fiend for many years.
At last, by a stroke of luck, he grasped the power to ascend to Demon God status, thinking a new day was on the horizon. He planned to unite with the Bloodbrawlers, Boulderdawn, and the ancient evilkind for a monumental struggle.
However, it wasn't long before the others, along with the evilkind, realized that with the Terra Fiend holding the Supreme God position, they would never achieve greatness.
So, they cut him down with ruthless decisiveness.
Tens of thousands of years later, this same individual cleared the Dragon Slaying Stage, giving the Terra Fiend a glimpse of rebirth and preparing for another grand endeavor.
Yet, he carelessly brought himself into the mix.
And he even managed to bring this guy along to this place.
"If there's anyone to blame, it's simply your ill fortune. It's destiny that has cruelly toyed with you, the Terra Fiend..."
Zhong Chichen said with a grin, soaring out from the Dragon Slaying Stage and hovering over the Seven-Colored Lake.
"I remember you. You're even more ancient than Huangyin and Xuanying. It seems to me that you once..."
Zhong Chichen idly scratched his ear, his gaze drifting over to the refined Terra Fiend within the wooden tombstone, "You once bathed me and attended to me for a time."
The Terra Fiend, now one with the wooden tombstone, shook violently.
She couldn't muster a single word to bolster her courage.
"What a shame. Despite your age, your understanding falls short of Huangyin and Xuanying," Zhong Chichen said, shaking his head. "That's why you lost the chance to become a great Demon God. After countless years, all that's left is this tiny devil soul fused with the tombstone. It's both pitiful and regrettable."
The Terra Fiend within the wooden tombstone couldn't help but retreat.
She moved back, far and away, not even daring to look at him.
Even though he was no longer the resplendent, magnificent Seven-Colored Dragon.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The waters of the Seven-Colored Lake began to boil suddenly—an unprecedented event.
Zhong Chichen, unconcerned with his surroundings, gently descended into the water. "I prefer my bathwater on the hotter side."
The psionic power concealed within the lake, beneficial for his body and spirit, rushed towards him in a frenzy the moment he touched the water.
It aided in purifying his meridians, bones, and blood. It assisted in refining his Lunar Spirit and in forging his Solar Spirit Body back into its original draconic form, enabling him to reach the pinnacle of the Unbound realm in the shortest time possible.
"Xuanying, Huangyin, back when you were both Demon Gods, you could only withstand blows passively. Now, you're merely Demon Gods, while I have ascended to become an Unbound cultivator of the human race."
"Isn't the outcome still the same?"
