C154 Evil Thoughts
"What is that?"
Next to the pit where the bronze monument had been suppressed, Lee Yu gazed upward in horror.
From their vantage point, they could still see the bronze coffin ascending, its divine glow dazzling!
"A gigantic coffin!"
Qin Yun of Midnightshields leapt to his feet, the Psicrystal in his hand suddenly fracturing into greyish-white shards.
He watched as the bronze coffin broke free from its chains and soared into the extraterrestrial realm.
Lee Yuchan was equally astonished, but she quickly noticed something off about Yu Feifei and inquired, "You?"
The diamond-shaped mark on Yu Feifei's forehead, once so distinct and clear, was now rapidly fading.
"That presence, that entity's aura..."
Yu Feifei ignored the celestial changes, focusing instead on her inner sensations. She realized that the oppressive feeling of being watched by the White Walker, the Terra Fiend, had vanished completely.
Moreover, the diamond-shaped mark had mysteriously merged into her mud pellet.
The mud pellet, located in the upper elixir field, is where the three souls of heaven, earth, and man reside.
Without reaching the state of Subtlety, a cultivator's spiritual sense would be unable to perceive the mud pellet's acupoint.
Yu Feifei could only sense the diamond-shaped mark settling into the mud pellet.
She felt a refreshing coolness at her forehead, her mind seemed clearer, and she felt a surge of vitality.
However, she was not yet capable of investigating whether the diamond-shaped mark still existed within the upper elixir field or what aid it might provide to the three souls of heaven, earth, and man.
"The Terra Fiend and White Walker have actually spared your life!"
Lee Yuchan was inwardly amazed, peering toward the sky where the bronze coffin had vanished and furrowed her brow, "What exactly transpired with Yu Yuan? The Soulforge Pool that the White Walker spoke of, could it really be filled with soul spirits, reactivating the Soulforge Matrix?"
"No, that's not it."
Qin Yun gently shook his head. "My view is quite the opposite of yours. The Soulforge Matrix hasn't been reactivated; it has... completely failed."
"What?" Lee Yuchan exclaimed in surprise.
"It looks like the layers of walls surrounding the forbidden area are dissolving." Qin Yun decided not to use another Psicrystal to restore his strength and declared, "I'm going to find Yu Yuan! I need to understand what has happened there!"
"Let's go too!"
Zhan Tianxiang, Su Yan, and the other trial survivors all rose to their feet.
...
At the border of Moonfall Sanctuary and the Silvermoon Empire, the gathered evil demons, archdemons, and alien souls suddenly went mad.
The Wraith Ape, carrying a dark red pillar, was the first to charge through the archway. After beating its chest and roaring, it took off in a frenzied sprint.
The barrier that had prevented all souls and demons from entering was no longer there.
"I knew it; the Soulforge Matrix has finally failed!" the azure-robed lad said with a beaming smile. Instead of passing through the arch, he transformed into a stream, flowing into the ravine below.
Without the threat of sword light emerging from the depths of the ravine, he crossed safely.
A formidable alien soul soared through the sky, reaching the Moonfall Sanctuary in an instant.
All the evil spirits and Aberrant Souls realized that the restrictions and lethal dangers were gone.
And so, they converged in droves.
...
The thick clouds dissipated, no longer brewing thunder and lightning, leaving the sky clear and bright.
Yu Yuan stood on the frost-covered ground, gazing upward, and noticed that the grand array that had shrouded the Moonfall Sanctuary seemed to have silently failed.
Though it was still night, the moon above no longer radiated that bone-chilling cold.
The seemingly endless frigid night appeared to have ceased when the bronze coffin ascended, leaving the vastness of the Everlands and venturing into the extraterrestrial stars.
The sword spirit vanished, and with it, the enigmatic bond between Yu Yuan and the Soulforge Matrix.
The spiritual energy of this world remained wild and disorderly, the cold as biting as ever.
"Yu Yuan!"
Across the vast pit, a figure stood tall, her ice-cold eyes fixed on him.
It was his betrothed, Lin Zhuyun.
As the bronze coffin took flight into the extraterrestrial realm, Lin Zhuyun, the temporary vessel for the Terra Fiend White Walker, seemed to have been discarded, not taken along.
Once the Terra Fiend and White Walker departed, the restraints they had placed within Lin Zhuyun vanished.
Freed, Lin Zhuyun witnessed the bronze coffin's ascent and realized that Yu Yuan had survived.
Beyond that, she felt a curious sensation...
Previously, whenever Yu Yuan looked at her, she was consumed by an uneasy and instinctive fear.
Now, however, the persistent unease that once plagued her had vanished.
She realized that Yu Yuan no longer posed a threat to her.
He seemed like just an ordinary cultivator in the Soul Awakening Realm, powerless to use the world's restrictions to punish at will.
"Miss Lin, congratulations on making it through," Yu Yuan said, retracting his focus and flashing her a grin. "The world's constraints have inexplicably ceased to function. From this point forward, I foresee no barriers hindering travel to either the Silvermoon Empire or the Crimson Sun Empire."
He paused briefly before adding, "Provided we don't encounter any formidable alien souls or goasts, all should be well."
"With the restrictions gone, does that mean you?" Lin Zhuyun interjected.
Yu Yuan nodded with a smile. "I can no longer leverage the world's restrictions against anyone."
At his words, Lin Zhuyun fell into a contemplative silence, her intuition confirmed.
She tilted her head back, gazing into the night sky for an extended period, her spiritual sense perceiving the twinkling stars and the moonlight that had shed its icy chill.
It felt just like the moment she first stepped into the forbidden area.
"Will many alien souls and goasts invade through the entrance of the forbidden area?" she inquired earnestly.
Yu Yuan shrugged nonchalantly. "I'm not sure. The departure of the bronze coffin from the forbidden area into the extraterrestrial unknown has set off a chain of events beyond my knowledge."
"If those goasts and alien souls step into the forbidden area, won't we face grave dangers upon encountering them?" Lin Zhuyun remarked.
"Even when I could wield the world's restrictions, I couldn't prevent Hantian and Indigo Wraith from emerging. The Terra Fiend and White Walker have also escaped," Yu Yuan replied with a wry smile. "The emergence of the bronze coffin signifies the total collapse of the restrictions. I'm not even certain if the Soulforge Matrix or the Soulforge Pool still exist."
With these thoughts, Yu Yuan discerned the direction and skirted the pit, heading towards the location of the Soulforge Pool as described by the White Walker.
Despite the surrounding divine force being wildly turbulent, it seemed to have little effect on him.
He seemed utterly indifferent to Lin Zhuyun's demeanor.
Lin Zhuyun remained rooted to the spot, her gaze fixed on his retreating figure, her eyes icy, her expression a complex tapestry of emotions.
Now, it was just her and Yu Yuan left in this place.
With the constraints gone, Yu Yuan was merely a cultivator in the middle stage of the Soul Awakening Realm, while she had ascended to the Veil Breaking Realm and possessed a rare treasure bestowed upon her by Winter's Bite.
Yu Yuan's very existence was poised to be a lifelong stain on the honor of the Lin family.
Could eliminating Yu Yuan here erase everything and resolve the troubles that might otherwise plague her for life?
This sinister notion twisted through her heart, weighing heavily on her mind as she contemplated it over and over.
