C1575 The Inner Wall of the Flowing Flames

Mo Baichuan nodded, affirming with a simple "Yes," before furrowing his brow in deep contemplation.

Yu Yuan, taken aback by this, waited in silence for him to elaborate.

Yet, as time ticked by, Mo Baichuan remained lost in thought.

"Our relationship doesn't warrant such formality," Yu Yuan's Yin God finally broke the silence, taking the initiative. "Besides, given the state of your Primordial Yang Sect, I doubt Han Miaoyuan would object to me lending you a hand."

Lee Tianxin had passed away, and it was only after Han Miaoyuan's urging that Yuwen Hao chose to shatter his own godhood.

Han Miaoyuan's stern warnings to Qin Luo upon his return from beyond, coupled with his decisive actions regarding the Rainier Empire, all pointed to Elder Han's guilt and his determination to shield the Primordial Yang Sect.

In light of these events, Boss Han was unlikely to question Mo Baichuan's close dealings with him.

Yu Yuan suspected that Mo Baichuan was concerned about their affiliations with rival factions.

"It's not about politeness; my mind is just cluttered. I can't seem to recall certain things," Mo Baichuan admitted, his expression one of bewilderment. He shook his head, as if trying to dispel his inner turmoil. "The more I try to remember things related to your master, the hazier they become. Perhaps it's because my Yang God has been reduced to ashes, and my Heavenly Soul is in need of reconstitution."

While speaking, the bleeding from the nine wounds in his abdomen ceased.

He produced a bottle of pellets and ingested them in front of Yu Yuan, immediately beginning to assimilate their healing properties in an effort to mend his injuries as quickly as possible.

"My master?" Yu Yuan echoed, visibly perplexed.

"The former sect master of the Medicine God Sect," Mo Baichuan clarified. "What I was about to discuss is somewhat related to him, but I find that my memories of him are fading."

Yu Yuan shared in the bewilderment. He too had noticed that as his own powers and realm had advanced, and with Zhong Chichen's awakening, his recollections of his past master had grown increasingly vague.

It was as if he instinctively overlooked the past, sparing little thought for his former mentor.

His memories of Zhong Chichen were vivid, just as his recollections of Xia Nan were crystal clear. And he remembered Chu Yao, Luo Yue, and others quite distinctly.

Whenever he thought of his master, he realized that only a handful of images lingered in his mind, the majority shrouded in a fog-like haze. He had never given it much thought before, but Mo Baichuan's mention prompted him to reflect deeply. His former master had always shown him great affection and imparted extensive knowledge of medicinal principles.

Moreover, he felt that his master had a particular fondness for him, more so than for Zhong Chichen, whom he didn't seem to particularly like...

"Could you show me your old Flowing Flames pill furnace?" Mo Baichuan asked.

"Flowing Flames?"

Yu Yuan gave Mo Baichuan a puzzled look. "The Flowing Flames isn't even of Heaven Level, and it lacks an Artifact Soul. It's merely a tool for refining pills. What made you think of it all of a sudden?"

While speaking, Yu Yuan's Yin God connected with his physical body.

At that moment, his Yang God was busy melting the Qilin Heart on the Dragon Slash Platform. His physical form was dispersed by a lakeside, observing Lvliu gather the spirit energy of water within the lake, combining it with a primal essence to forge his unique bloodline divine crystal.

The Desolate God had warned that taking the Qilin Heart beyond the Great Swamp would draw the immediate attention of the Demon Phoenix, risking the loss of the heart.

So, he decided to remain in the Great Swamp until the Qilin Heart was fully refined before venturing out.

"The Flowing Flames is within the Universe Ring of my true form, which is currently in the Desolate Swamp. If you really wish to see it, I can arrange for Babel Chamber of Commerce to send it over," Yu Yuan communicated through his Yin God.

Mo Baichuan, who had been sitting quietly, suddenly rose to his feet and said, "In that case, have Zhou Xuan deliver the Flowing Flames directly to the Medicine God Sect. Please arrange it for us. We'll use the teleportation array on Babel Island to head to the Babel Chamber of Commerce's headquarters first, and then straight to the Hellfire Mountain range at your Medicine God Sect."

"Hellfire Mountain..." Yu Yuan's thoughts quickened.

"I am on Primordial Yang Island because my Yang God delved deep into the Earth's core through the Nether Abyss nearby. It was at the very edge of the Earth's core that my Yang God was reduced to ashes by the Geocentric Fire. However, I've found that Hellfire Mountain emits a flame that, although many times weaker, still contains the essence of the Geocentric Fire."

Mo Baichuan clarified, "I perused the scrolls left by the Sect Master and discovered that the Hellfire Mountain, within the Hellfire Mountain Range, emanates the most intense Geocentric Fire. Apart from the Medicine God Sect, the only other location is the Red Devil Sect. Since I can't go to the Red Devil Sect, the Medicine God Sect is my only option, and indeed, it's the best choice for me."

As he spoke, Mo Baichuan, now at the Soul Wandering Stage, and Yu Yuan's Yin God made their way toward Babel Island.

Elsewhere.

Zhou You, operating from the Babel Chamber of Commerce headquarters, set out for the Great Swamp upon receiving his orders. There, he swiftly encountered Yu Yuan's physical form and received the pill furnace "Flowing Flames" that Mo Baichuan had specifically requested.

...

Several hours later.

At the base of an extinct volcano within the Hellfire Mountain Range, home to the Medicine God Sect, Yu Yuan and Mo Baichuan stood side by side on a crimson volcanic stone.

With a whoosh, Zhou You arrived gracefully, placing the "Flowing Flames" before them.

He gave a slight bow to Mo Baichuan and respectfully addressed him as "Mountain Lord Mo."

Mo Baichuan remained unmoved.

Unperturbed, Zhou You understood Mo Baichuan's demeanor and turned to Yu Yuan to inquire, "Is there anything else you need?"

Yu Yuan shook his head, replying, "You've done enough. Thank you."

"It was no trouble at all."

The portly Zhou You laughed softly, sensing the two men had matters to discuss, and discreetly took his leave.

Yu Yuan's attention then settled on the pill furnace.

The gourd-shaped "Flowing Flames" stood on three legs, its outer wall adorned with intricate carvings of mythical creatures such as vermillion birds, fiery dragons, Qilin, and phoenixes, all rendered with vivid detail.

Inside the pill furnace, numerous bizarre fire arrays appeared to burn with a strange ferocity.

Upon the "Flowing Flames" arrival, Mo Baichuan paid no attention to the outer wall's alien beast engravings, showing no interest whatsoever.

Once Zhou You had departed, Mo Baichuan no longer hesitated. He soared into the air and descended directly into the interior of the pill furnace.

His gaze lingered on the inner wall of the pill furnace, where mysterious and profound fire arrays were etched.

Mo Baichuan's pupils suddenly emitted a peculiar glow, and his breathing became noticeably hurried.

Yu Yuan's Yin God, hovering in mid-air, was struck by his odd behavior. "Bai, are the fire arrays on the inner wall affecting you in some way?"

Mo Baichuan remained silent, his stare fixed on the arrays, his entire focus seemingly absorbed by them.

After a quarter of an hour.

Mo Baichuan appeared to have expended a great deal of his energy, emerging from the "Flowing Flames" somewhat weakened.

He closed his eyes to recuperate for a short time before reopening them and stating, "This pill furnace is of no use to you now. You might as well give it to me."

Yu Yuan was taken aback.

Throughout their long acquaintance, Mo Baichuan had never once requested anything from him.

"Flowing Flames," lacking an Artifact Soul, didn't even qualify as Heaven Level. Its primary function was to harness the Geocentric Fire for pill refinement.

He had created "Flowing Flames" because, in his past life, he was unable to cultivate and thus couldn't use his own fire to refine pills like his senior, Zhong Chichen.

As a result, he had to depend on "Flowing Flames," drawing on the volcanic power within Hellfire Mountain to smelt spiritual materials into pellets.

"You can have it, but I want to know why," Yu Yuan demanded.

"The flame array inscribed within the Flowing Flames subtly incorporates the essence of the Geocentric Fire. My Yang God was instantly incinerated upon nearing the Geocentric Fire. Yet, through this, I glimpsed the form of the Earth Fire as it burns beneath the surface."

"The manner in which the Geocentric Fire blazes deep within the earth struck a chord with me. It felt familiar, as if I'd encountered it somewhere before. After much contemplation, I realized..."

Mo Baichuan looked up, meeting Yu Yuan's gaze. "I've seen it while watching you refine pellets."

He had once sought pellets from Yu Yuan, witnessing firsthand on several occasions how Yu Yuan crafted them.

Before him were the Flowing Flames.

Yu Yuan's soul shadow quivered slightly.

"The Spiritual Spells related to the Geocentric Fire that Sect Master Yuwen bestowed upon me pale in comparison to the flame arrays etched into the inner walls of the Flowing Flames. When you were known as Hong Qi, you hadn't embarked on the path of cultivation. How could you possibly understand the workings of the Geocentric Fire?" Mo Baichuan's expression was oddly perplexing.

"It was only after the demise of my Yang God that I caught glimpses of the Geocentric Fire's burning patterns and methods."

"Yet, within the inner walls of your pill furnace, there are a multitude of Geocentric Fire's burning patterns. If you had indeed been there, you would have needed to stay much longer to witness such a variety of changes."

Mo Baichuan paused before adding, "Could you shed some light on this for me?"

Simultaneously.

Yu Yuan, in his true form at the Desolate Swamp, was jolted and instinctively turned his gaze toward the Old Ape crouched by the lake.

The Desolate God had indicated that only with a soul as mighty as his in the first life, theoretically, could one traverse the Geocentric Fire and reach the enigmatic core of the cosmos.

Had he truly been there in his former life?

And yet...

Something was amiss!

Yu Yuan inhaled deeply and said, "I recall that the Artifact Sect contributed little to the creation of the Flowing Flames."

"My master was the one who refined the pill furnace for me! The outer wall's carvings of various alien beasts seem to be the work of the Artifact Sect, but it appears he was the one who inscribed the flame array inside."

His recollections were hazy, feeling fragmented and disjointed, as if they couldn't quite piece together.

"I remember your master wasn't particularly renowned for his realm. It seems unlikely he could have deciphered such deep secrets of the geocentric fire. Moreover, I believe that without having truly reached the Geocentric Fire, one couldn't possibly inscribe such a diverse array of its burning patterns. Considering your master's realm..."

Mo Baichuan shook his head, clearly unconvinced that Yu Yuan's master from his past life possessed the ability to access the Geocentric Fire.

"The Flowing Flames are yours," Yu Yuan declared.

Mo Baichuan, having failed to extract an answer, huffed and declared, "Once you have the answer, please inform me. I intend to use your Flowing Flames to forge a Yang God at the Hellfire Mountain of your Medicine God Sect. Furthermore, if it's not too much trouble, I've chosen Hellfire Mountain as the site for my Dao fusion in the Unrestrained Stage!"

Yu Yuan was taken aback once more. "Is that true?"

"I believe that to ascend to the highest level with the Geocentric Fire, Hellfire Mountain is my optimal choice," Mo Baichuan stated earnestly.

"You're a member of the Primordial Yang Sect. How can I justify assisting you in merging with our Medicine God Sect's Hellfire Mountain?" Yu Yuan asked, clearly agitated.

Mo Baichuan remained silent, simply fixing his gaze on him.

"Fine, fine. I'll handle any external obstacles for you," Yu Yuan conceded with a resigned look.
