C1666 The Young Beast Escaped
With a crackling sound, the violet-gold dragon egg shattered, its fragments transforming into divine light that was swiftly absorbed by the young Titan Spinosaurus. Yu Yuan's face fell as he attempted to intervene, only to be met with a thunderous dragon roar that echoed not from within the Dragon Slaying Stage, but from the outside world. The young creature had burst forth from the Dragon Slaying Stage!
"Titan, Titan Spinosaurus!" the Abyssal Leviathan shrieked, trembling with fear.
In a flash of violet-gold lightning, accompanied by the roar of the dragon, the Titan's body was streaked with light. It then ripped through the fabric of space, darting toward an undisclosed location within the Ashlands. It paid no heed to Yu Yuan's pleas, as if fearing another attempt to halt its escape, it vanished with astonishing speed.
The creature's presence was fleeting; it moved so quickly that both Xuanli and Youyu failed to catch a clear glimpse of it. The Duskjaw, Stormwraith, and Three-legged Golden Crow lay prostrate before the head of the Titan, too intimidated to stir.
The only one to have witnessed its true form and to have cried out was the Abyssal Leviathan. Even after the creature had vanished, the Abyssal Leviathan's face was frozen in a mix of shock and disbelief, as if it couldn't trust its own eyes.
"Titan, Titan?" The Abyssal Leviathan looked to Yu Yuan, its voice still quivering as it spoke.
"What?" Xuanli was utterly bewildered, clueless as to what had just transpired. He had heard the dragon's roar and seen the streak of violet-gold lightning, and although he had heard the Abyssal Leviathan shout the name 'Titan Spinosaurus,' he was too slow to comprehend. The name 'Titan Spinosaurus' was too alien to him; his knowledge of it was scant.
Youyu gazed at Yu Yuan, his silence speaking volumes.
Yin Tiehua, who had been conversing with Taixu, wore a look of confusion. She stared at the Abyssal Leviathan, equally perplexed by the unexpected turn of events and at a loss as to why the Abyssal Leviathan was so astounded.
"Yes, it was a young Titan Spinosaurus," Yu Yuan confirmed, taking a deep breath. He realized that the young Titan Spinosaurus had already made its appearance thousands of miles away, defying the spatial constraints of the Ashlands.
The young beast could be sensed through the Solar Spirit. Yu Yuan knew that after its departure from the Ashlands, the young beast had already claimed its first victim.
The young beast was intent on using the flesh and blood resources available in the Ashlands to fortify itself and accelerate its growth.
Alien beasts, formidable Otherkin warriors, and even cosmic giant beasts would all be its prey.
The instincts etched into its bloodline drove it to hunt and feed.
"Titan Spinosaurus! You've raised a Titan Spinosaurus inside the Dragon Slaying Stage?" Xuanli finally realized, screaming in terror.
Yin Tiehua, leaning on a crutch, collapsed to the ground, murmuring in disbelief, "How is this possible? How could there still be a Titan Spinosaurus?"
The Abyssal Leviathan stared at Yu Yuan with intense eyes, breathing heavily, unable to settle its turbulent emotions.
"What is it planning to do?" Taixu inquired.
"Can you control it?" Youyu chimed in.
"It seeks to hunt. Much like the Mirage of the Mind grows within the Ashlands, it too aims to hunt down formidable foes there to rapidly gain strength," Yu Yuan explained, his mood heavy with the young beast's departure.
He could sense the young beast's fondness for him, seeing him as kin.
Yet, the young beast no longer wished to remain at the Dragon Slaying Stage, believing it had grown.
The Ashlands' unique environment was comforting to it, and it was aware of the various targets it could hunt across the region.
Thus, it chose to break free from the Dragon Slaying Stage, following the instincts of its lineage.
"Prey? In such perilous Ashlands, will it manage to survive?"
Taixu's gaze shifted, catching the somber expression of the Abyssal Leviathan, and he pondered whether the young Titan Spinosaurus could truly thrive amidst the Chaos Serpent, the Abyssal Leviathan, and the secular bird. Did it not fear being annihilated by its ancient kin?
"I finally understand the source of the unease I felt earlier," the Abyssal Leviathan declared once more.
He recalled the last time Yu Yuan's eyes had shifted to an unusual violet gold hue, which had left him feeling oppressed and uneasy.
"Is it aware of the current state of the Ashlands through you? The Secular Bird Queen, Chaos Serpent, Origin Deity—these are the top beings of the cosmos, and it ought to know about them, right?" the Abyssal Leviathan inquired.
Yu Yuan nodded, "That seems to be the case."
"It could very well be the true ruler of the Ashlands," the Abyssal Leviathan declared emphatically.
"What do you mean?" Xuanli asked, clearly taken aback.
"The Old Titan Spinosaurus, before its death, was often seen in the Ashlands and could be considered the real sovereign there. I suspect that in certain areas of the Ashlands, there might be remnants left by the Old Titan Spinosaurus. This juvenile creature should be able to sense them through its bloodline and instinctively seek them out," explained the Abyssal Leviathan.
"Remnants left behind?"
Xuanli and Taixu gasped simultaneously.
The Titan Spinosaurus, a being of unparalleled might before Bertain, had even ventured into the Abyss. Any relics it left behind, especially for its progeny, would undoubtedly be of extraordinary significance!
"Are you suggesting that if this young Titan Spinosaurus were to find and absorb something left behind by the Old Titan Spinosaurus in the Ashlands, it could rapidly grow in strength?" Yu Yuan asked, astounded.
The Abyssal Leviathan nodded gravely, "If it can elevate itself to a sufficiently high level quickly, the alien beasts, Otherkin warriors, and even the Chaos Serpent and I could face serious trouble."
He refrained from mentioning the Secular Bird Queen.
In his mind, the Secular Bird, with its power to challenge the Old Titan Spinosaurus, would not fear this young creature once it had regained its full strength.
That is, unless this young creature, like the Old Titan Spinosaurus, had also been blessed with Primal Blood.
With this thought, the Abyssal Leviathan's form trembled dramatically. It turned to Yu Yuan and demanded, "You, do you possess it? Have you assisted in modifying the giant beast's heart? Does it contain the complete Secrets of Life?"
"Only a fragment, not the entirety," Yu Yuan replied.
"That's a relief..." the Abyssal Leviathan sighed, its fears momentarily allayed upon learning that only a small part was involved.
With a whoosh, the Three-legged Golden Crow returned from the head of the deceased Titan, having been away for quite some time. It alighted on the yellow-brown terrain once more. The Golden Crow sounded its call, signaling to all those gathered that the formidable Titan had fallen to the Abyssal Greater Basilisk. Astonishingly, the Abyssal Greater Basilisk, which was supposed to dwell at the fringes of the cosmos, had made its way to the Ashlands!
"My dear old friend! I've been confined in the Everlands for far too long and may have lost touch with everyone. The secular bird, the Abyssal Greater Basilisk, and the Chaos Serpent have all ventured into the Ashlands."
"There has to be something there they're yearning for! That old dragon has definitely concealed something within!" exclaimed the Abyssal Leviathan.
