C1702 The Evil God in the Abyss
"My name is Awkwafina, and I must correct your statement," declared the Shadowkin elder, her presence emanating from a dark and somber realm. With her hair wild and untamed, she revealed her true form, her gaze icy as it met Yu Yuan's.
"Filthy? You dare claim I was defiled by the Origin Deity? Ha, you are utterly ignorant of the Abyss!"
Her smile was eerie, sending chills down one's spine.
Jessica of the Silverscale Tribe, standing beside her, furrowed her brow, seemingly trying to halt her reckless ramblings.
"I have nothing to fear now. Since the Origin Deity was forced by Bertain to retreat back to the Abyss, I no longer worry about his retribution. After all, my true allegiance is not to him, but to the Dreadlord of the Abyss."
Her face lit up with genuine reverence at the mention of the Dreadlord, her eyes gaining a clarity.
"The Abyss, and other Dreadlords?" Yu Yuan was taken aback.
"Kid, you're clueless! We, the Shadowkin, have always been out of place in this world. Before me, Awkwafina, not a single Blood Warrior had reached the tenth level!"
"Do you know why? It's because our bloodline rules were flawed from the start!"
"We were meant for the Abyss!"
Awkwafina, the Shadowkin elder, divulged this earth-shattering secret just as Yu Yuan was preparing to unleash the Heaven-Opening Sword Array to obliterate the shadows.
This revelation left Yu Yuan astounded, and he hesitated to wield his sword.
"We belong to the Abyss?!" Yu Yuan exclaimed in disbelief.
"To put it precisely, the Shadow Rule within our bloodline originates from the Abyss. It's possible that the Titan Spinosaurus, during its explorations in the Abyss, hunted down an Evil God and captured the profound meaning of Shadow, bringing it back to our world for the Shadowkin to decipher."
"Or perhaps, in some ancient, unknown era, the secrets of Shadow were sent here."
"I was introduced to the Dreadlord by the Origin Deity within his constructed Origin Realm. In the world of the Abyss, the Dreadlord I serve is a supreme being, equal in stature to the Origin Deity."
"The Dreadlord revealed to me the secrets of the Shadow Rule through the Origin Realm, enabling me to finally break free from the constraints of our bloodline."
"Therefore, my ascension to the tenth level has nothing to do with the Origin Deity. He is not my master in the slightest."
Awkwafina spoke with a chilling tone.
"You accuse me of falling into the Abyss, of being corrupted by it, but that couldn't be further from the truth. My contact with the Abyss was merely a homecoming. The bloodline of the Shadowkin within me originates from the Abyss, and our master resides there as well!"
Her expression was one of unyielding conviction, devoid of any reverence for the Origin Deity, tinged instead with dissatisfaction.
She was revealed to be a Dreadlord, a supreme entity of the Abyss on par with the Origin Deity, who had soulfully communicated with her and aided her in her breakthrough.
Given these circumstances, her devotion to the Dreadlord seemed perfectly reasonable.
Then...
Yu Yuan, taken aback, turned his gaze to Jessica, who, like him, possessed a tenth-level bloodline but had previously remained out of sight.
"I am not like her!"
Jessica's expression was icy as she effortlessly produced a silver mask and placed it over her face, leaving only her piercing eyes visible. "I am the creation of my ancestor," she declared.
Her attention shifted to the Abyssal Greater Basilisk.
The massive creature within the fluctuating spatial rift seemed on the verge of tearing through the fabric of space, only to be suddenly enveloped in a prism of light, preventing its escape.
Then, a colossal golden dragon emerged, its presence as imposing as a golden fortress. A single glance at its shimmering scales was enough to send a chill through one's veins.
It was Loong Jie!
To intercept the Abyssal Greater Basilisk, not only had the Chronowyrm been deployed, but Loong Jie from the Dark Realm had also arrived.
"The Dark Realm? Ha!"
Awkwafina's laughter rang out once more, her unkempt appearance exuding an eerie aura, as though she harbored countless secrets she was itching to divulge.
Yu Yuan listened intently, his urgency to engage in battle waning. He was intent on uncovering deeper secrets of the Abyss from Awkwafina.
"Shadows, darkness, chaotic twists..."
Awkwafina whispered to herself.
"Be quiet!"
Jessica from the Silverscale Tribe bellowed.
"Your ancestor is currently entangled with those dragons; he's powerless to constrain me."
Awkwafina of the Shadowkin continued to emit her ghastly laughter, a sound so grating it was profoundly unsettling.
"Darkness?"
Yu Yuan's expression shifted subtly, a sudden frisson of fear stirring within him.
Could it be that... even the dark magic comprehended by Demon Lord Tan Xiaotian originated from the Abyss in its earliest days?
The Titan Spinosaurus, a terror in the Abyss, slaughtered many beings akin to the Dreadlord and the Origin Deity. It absorbed the cosmic order they had mastered and infused it into the heart of the giant beast.
And with its appearances and eventual demise, could it have sown its legacy in this realm?
In this world, are there numerous powers, aside from the Shadow Rule, that first emerged in the Abyss?
Could all these forces be amplified through the Abyss?
"In the Abyss, the Evil Gods wielding dark energy pale in comparison to Demon Lord Tan Xiaotian. Yet, dark energy is a formidable cornerstone of the Abyss world. The dark magic there, however, is fragmented. If the dark race of the Abyss were to encounter Tan Xiaotian, they would revere him as a divine being!"
"One day, should Tan Xiaotian venture into the Abyss, he will undoubtedly amass a legion of followers and devotees."
"The might and minions he could command would far surpass those of the vast Devil Palace in the Everlands. In the Abyss alone, there are at least three Dark Deities akin to Zhu Zhenlin."
"Unlike this place, the Abyss does not shun outsiders. They welcome all who share their lineage and essence."
"If the Origin Deity weren't so self-serving, reluctant to see the dark race of the Abyss flourish, he would only need to reveal the truth to Tan Xiaotian. Given Tan Xiaotian's nature, he wouldn't require the Origin Deity's confinement. He might willingly reach out to the Abyss to consolidate his base of power."
"Should he embrace the Abyss and its dark races, filling in the missing pieces of the dark magic, he would become the Dark Deity of the Abyss!"
"Throughout history, the standing of the Dark Deity in the Abyss has always surpassed that of the Origin Deity and the Dreadlord."
"The blame lies with the Origin Deity!"
Unbound, Awkwafina spoke without fear, her exchanges with the Dreadlord through the Origin Realm having revealed to her some of the Abyss's intricacies.
"Who else? What other arcane secrets of the rule have drifted into our world since the formation of the Abyss?"
Yu Yuan was utterly astounded. He had not anticipated that Awkwafina, in her unrestrained state, would actually unravel the enigmatic shroud that veiled the creatures of the Abyss.
It appeared that the Abyss was not exclusionary after all.
It seemed that as soon as Tan Xiaotian mingled with the Shadowkin and set foot in the Abyss, he would instantly ascend to the status of a Dark Deity.
Tan Xiaotian stood to gain even greater power, commanding more subordinates and powerful loyalists. The allure was staggeringly immense!
Given Tan Xiaotian's disposition, knowing that such an opportunity had been awaiting him, what choice would he make?
Were there others in this world like Tan Xiaotian, who, through the dissemination of the cosmic order from the Abyss, had evolved into Evil Gods surpassing the Abyss itself?
If so...
These individuals, upon their arrival in the Abyss, could consolidate those of similar nature and rise as their Evil Gods!
"How could the Origin Deity dare to open the Abyssal Gate?" Yu Yuan was at a loss for words.
"He aspired to become the supreme ruler of the Abyss before opening the gate, but alas, he failed," Awkwafina scoffed. "Had it not been for the intervention of the great Demon God Bertain, he might have succeeded in activating the Eiwrone, concealing the Maw of Oblivion within, and engulfing the Ashlands, the Everlands, and over a dozen other realms. His form within the Abyss would have been invincible."
"Such a being could coerce all the Evil Gods of the Abyss to acknowledge him as their leader."
"Had he truly succeeded, he would have become the Bertain of the Abyss, commanding the unwavering loyalty of all Evil Gods. At that point, if he had opened the Abyssal Gate, he might have indeed swept across this world."
"Regrettably, his efforts were ultimately in vain, thwarted by Bertain himself."
Victory and defeat were determined in the blink of an eye. As soon as the Great Demon God Bertain made his entrance, the envisioned outcome by the Origin Deity was irrevocably altered.
