C1838 The Trembling Abyssal Gate
In a desolate, unknown expanse, colorful ripples emanated from the young Titan Spinosaurus at the center, radiating outwards in every direction as if reaching into countless unnamed dimensions. These ripples resembled a vast, mysterious ocean, with the surface shimmering above an endless darkness below—a world akin to the legendary Abyss.
The sounds of heavy breathing, roars, and curses echoed through this void, yet there was no one to hear them. Boom! Boom! Boom! Another massive creature from beneath violently collided with the ocean's surface, sending the colorful ripples into even more chaotic motion.
Energy waves surged across the ocean's colorful facade, only to be swiftly dispersed, as if dissolved by the dark Abyss below. The violet-gold dragon's body, spanning millions of miles, sprawled its wings across the sea's surface like two small landmasses. The little spinosaurus, crawling upon the sea, continued to wail mournfully.
Its dragon claws, akin to sacred anchors, were wrapped in blinding bolts of lightning, scraping relentlessly against the ocean's surface. It struggled to use its claws to anchor itself, desperate to escape the pull of the colorful ripples and stand up, to flee from the clutches of the Abyssal Gate.
Despite numerous attempts, its mighty claws, capable of piercing through realms and shattering stars, failed to lift its massive form. Its eyes, as fierce as the sun, were filled with restlessness and urgency. Left with no other choice, it reached out with its heart for assistance.
Yu Yuan was the only one it could turn to for help. Above its head, in the Land of Nothingness, a tiny light, no larger than a bean, began to swell frantically. The dragon mustered its strength to lift its head, its jaw pressing against the sea's surface. As it felt its vital energy slipping away, it gazed at the growing light in a trance, a spark of hope reigniting in its eyes.
With a whoosh, the minuscule light swelled rapidly, transforming into a dazzling Maw of Oblivion—a portal leading to the Land of Nothingness. To the little spinosaurus, any help was preferable to being drained of its vital energy.
As the hole grew larger and more resplendent, a lizard of immense size emerged, dwarfing the spinosaurus. Amidst a tumult of mudslides and rocks, an enormous head filled its field of view, presenting itself first.
Hovering above its head was a figure that it recognized.
"Father!"
The little spinosaurus was so moved that tears filled its eyes. It first let out a joyful dragon roar, then spoke in human language, "Father, save me! The Abyssal Gate is draining my vital energy, threatening to consume all my power!"
Whoosh!
Yu Yuan and the grinning Abyssal Leviathan descended from the Dragon Slaying Stage.
"So this is where the Abyssal Gate is? Hehe, the old spinosaurus found this place and used it to step into the Abyss?" The Abyssal Leviathan marveled, surveying the desolate Land of Nothingness. It had just released its vital energy, intending to thoroughly inspect the surroundings.
"Uh..."
Strands of blood qi, infused with the Water Magic, had barely left its body when they were devoured by the colorful "sea" below.
"Don't release your vital energy. The Abyssal Gate below is desperately seeking power due to a lack of strength to sustain itself. You, I, and this little spinosaurus are precisely the sources of flesh power it craves the most."
The Abyssal Leviathan, now in the form of an elder from the Silverscale Tribe, cautioned the little spinosaurus against recklessness while gazing at it intently.
Clearly, the old lizard was no stranger to this place, yet his expression when looking at the colorful ripples below was one of utmost caution.
He was exceedingly careful.
"Also, make sure not to touch that colorful sea surface with your flesh. Otherwise, you'll end up like this little spinosaurus, firmly attached and drained of your vital energy!"
Upon hearing this, the Abyssal Leviathan, who was about to touch down, shot back up into the air.
"Why didn't you say that sooner? You should have warned me about the precautions when we came here! Old lizard, do you secretly wish for my demise so you can seize my bloodline mysteries?" The Abyssal Leviathan complained.
The old lizard just rolled his eyes, paying him no mind.
"You sure have a penchant for wandering off."
The Dragon Slaying Stage gently descended, coming to a steady halt in front of the little spinosaurus's forehead.
Yu Yuan's gaze lingered briefly on the little spinosaurus's face, twisted in pain and impatience, before he turned his attention back to the familiar boundary.
Beneath the colorful ripples, he could make out a massive shadow that seemed to be violently striking the "sea" surface.
Evil God?
He stroked his chin, deep in thought, contemplating the powerful entities within the Abyss. Why had they suddenly launched an assault on the Abyssal Gate?
Hadn't the Great Demon God Bertain already passed through, turning the Abyss upside down and sending Evil Gods scattering in all directions?
How then did these Evil Gods still possess the strength to converge at the Abyssal Gate and create such an uproar?
Yu Yuan was puzzled.
"I..."
The little spinosaurus began to speak but paused when it noticed the hostile gazes of both the Abyssal Greater Basilisk and the Abyssal Leviathan. Considering its precarious position, it continued, "I sought to pass through the Abyssal Gate to claim the power our ancestors left behind, to reach maturity more swiftly."
"I didn't want to wait for the Dark Phoenix to find me, to remain so vulnerable in the Ashlands."
"My bloodline carries the coordinates to the Abyssal Gate; I know the way there. I also sensed vital energy above the gate that I could directly absorb."
"Yet it seems my luck has been quite dreadful."
The little spinosaurus explained, its spirit deflated.
Upon reaching the Abyssal Gate, its belly scales, claws, and wings barely grazed the colorful ripples when it detected the ancestral vital energy and inadvertently triggered something.
Instead, the Abyssal Gate drained its vital energy and clung to it, rendering it incapable of escape.
Overwhelmed by fear, the little spinosaurus began to doubt whether its bloodline's progenitor, the Old Titan Spinosaurus, had plotted against its descendants, using them for a chance at rebirth.
This terrifying thought scattered its wits, and it desperately pleaded with Yu Yuan for rescue, terrified of being consumed to the bone by its ancient ancestor.
"The barrier erected by numerous ancient Evil Gods in the Abyss has been utterly obliterated."
After the Lizard spoke, he cast his gaze down into the sea's unfathomable darkness. His profound eyes seemed to pierce through the shadows as he revealed, "You're aware that the Abyssal Gate is comprised of two barriers, effectively two gates. The barrier on the Abyss's side, meant to protect against our ancestral gate, has now been shattered."
Creatures from the Abyss below began to furiously slam against the gate crafted by the ancient spinosaurus. This gate, powered by sufficient vital energy, could withstand the relentless assault of the Abyss's denizens for millennia without ever breaking."
"But now..."
The Lizard paused, his gaze resting on Yu Yuan, whose expression was turning grave, and continued, "It appears the vital energy reserves are running low, and as a result, the gate forged by the ancient spinosaurus is undergoing changes. Any living creature that comes into contact with the Abyssal Gate will have its vital energy siphoned to replenish the gate."
"The little spinosaurus, myself, and the Abyssal Leviathan would all have our vital energy drained should we fall into its grasp."
"The little spinosaurus would survive, merely depleted of vital energy. But if the Abyssal Leviathan and I were to fall, I fear... we would be utterly annihilated."
The Lizard explained.
"Oh, so it won't die."
Yu Yuan's anxiety eased considerably, and he reassured with a smile, "See, your forebear still shows you mercy. He's only seizing your vital energy to compensate for the Abyssal Gate's power deficit, not truly consuming you. Even after your vital energy is taken, you can replenish it over time."
"Save me, please, father!" the little spinosaurus cried out.
It crept closer, hoping to tap into the power its ancestor left in the Abyssal Gate to hasten its maturation and unlock the profound mysteries hidden within its bloodline.
But completely drained of vital energy, it would be left in a state of utter weakness after breaking free from the gate.
The Lizard, the Abyssal Leviathan, or any mature cosmic giant beast could easily end its life.
And that's without considering the fearsome Dark Phoenix.
"Father, the Ape has ventured to the Ashlands, and I can sense him. I'm scared! You're not here, and I dread that the Dark Phoenix might find me through the Ape! Should I not flee and instead wait in the Ashlands for death?"
The little spinosaurus lifted its head, struggling against the pull of the colorful sea's suction. In a sudden move, it jabbed its lower jaw into the ground, becoming disoriented and inwardly cursing its ancestor's cruelty.
He was his own flesh and blood, so why shouldn't he receive extra care?
Whoosh!
Just then, an "Origin Gate" slowly materialized, and the wraith of Jihui, the God-King, gradually came into view.
He gazed in astonishment at the little spinosaurus, the old lizard, the Abyssal Leviathan, and Yu Yuan atop the Dragon Slaying Stage. Puzzled, he inquired, "How did you all get here?"
After much effort, he had convinced the Evil Gods of the Abyss to first shatter their own gate before fiercely attacking the gate crafted by the old spinosaurus.
He had even triggered the latent power of the "Abyssal Gate," causing it to unleash a formidable suction force.
This force was designed to ensnare any living creature that carelessly entered and fell into the multicolored sea.
All his actions, all his schemes, were orchestrated for one purpose—to confront the Dark Phoenix, the supreme Demon Phoenix of the Everlands.
This included the Secular Bird Queen.
