C2161 He Came Back Again!
In the Silver Wing Astral Domain, the Secular Bird Queen's wings gracefully moved, stirring ripples through time and space. She had traveled a great distance from another Star River, intent on retrieving the rare treasures she had hidden in the Wingkind's world.
Aware of the dangers ahead, she had made preparations before setting out for the Wasteland. Her wings, refined from pure death force, were as sharp as blades of white light, hissing through the void.
Her spiritual sense, combined with the death aura, conveyed her unique message, prompting the ninth-level Wingkind elders to come forth and present her with the buried treasures.
Suddenly, the death symbols that Chen Qinghuang had struggled to suppress within her eyes emerged one by one, radiating an intense death aura. She saw the bodies of the Wingkind clansmen, who had revered her as a deity and protected her for generations, now strewn across the forests.
This tragic scene was replicated across various star systems. Creatures from the Abyss, never before seen in the Origin Realm, moved through the woods and across the starry sky, laughing maniacally as they reaped the lives of the Wingkind.
The ninth-level Wingkind elders, loyal to her, were impaled by the branches of sacred ancient wood, their heads hanging like lanterns. Amid the dense foliage, bloodstained greylags lay scattered.
Both ninth and eighth-level greylags had been slain by the fearsome warriors from the Abyss, their feathers tainted with blood, scattered on the ground like mournful blossoms.
At this moment, the Silver Wing Astral Domain resembled a bloody inferno, littered with the corpses of Wingkind and Shadowkin alike.
The Secular Bird Queen, who had initially planned to retrieve a few items and depart, witnessed this carnage. The greenish-grey Divine Bird within her surged forth once more.
The Divine Bird's cry echoed, spreading death and causing all life to wither.
...
In the Everlands, the situation had changed. "He is no longer eager to pursue Bertain," declared the guardian, his spirited body leaving the palace grounds to manifest within a stone pillar. He addressed the Evil Gods gathered from afar with haughty assurance, "You are free to roam and continue selecting territories suitable for your races within the Origin Realm. Relocate your clansmen at your discretion."
The hall was filled with the eerie laughter of the Evil Gods.
They were all convinced that if he had decided not to pursue Bertain, it was because he had another plan to handle him.
Those Evil Gods eager to seize the fruits of the Origin Realm and quickly establish their domains were naturally reluctant to linger in the Holy Temple. They had no desire to focus their efforts on Bertain.
They firmly believed in the Demon God who could reimprison Bertain and make him submit, just like the other Sky Fiends.
Reid, Kaiya, Youqian, Sable, and Saca, well-known Sky Fiend Demon Gods, had all submitted to his command.
Even though Bertain had resisted for a long time, he would inevitably end up like Reid and the other Demon Gods.
"You may go now," the guardian said coldly, gesturing towards Yu Yiyi.
"What a beautiful girl you are. Your soul must taste sweet and succulent. Such a shame you don't possess your own flesh and blood body; this demonform is merely a crafted vessel."
Gomez, an Evil God resembling a vast octopus, sent a greasy, glossy dark green tentacle gliding toward Yu Yiyi.
A lecherous gray-green eye at the tip of the tentacle oozed depravity.
"Your soul's aura is quite appealing too. Hehe."
The gray-green eye, following the sway of the tentacle, appeared to scrutinize Yu Yiyi from every angle, as if it couldn't wait to take a lick.
Yu Yiyi's expression remained frosty as she wielded the Crucible of Evil in her hand, slamming it hard against the lascivious tentacle.
The black glyphs pulsed vividly as the enlarged Crucible of Evil, now tenfold its original size, crushed the thick, anaconda-like dark green tentacle, splattering green blood.
"You wretch!" Gomez shrieked, caught off guard by the painful strike. He writhed his tentacles, which danced wildly like countless dragons and serpents, lashing out at Yu Yiyi from various angles.
Inside the tentacle monster, foul and frenzied blood coursed, emitting a stench akin to a sewer.
Ballo, entwined by the splitting slender tentacles, had the faint starlight within him forcibly extracted.
Aware that his end was near and that he would soon be nothing more than a cold, lifeless skeleton, Ballo realized he had no more strength left for Gomez to drain.
"Little wretch, without the flesh and blood of the Gods, you're nothing but a Star-Spawned Terror from the Outer Realm! How dare a Sky Fiend from the Origin Realm stand against the Evil God of the Abyss?" Gomez, in his fury, made sure to label Yu Yiyi's identity as that of a Sky Fiend.
She was not one of the Gods born in the Abyss.
In his mind, any member of the Abyssal Gods who had ascended to the supreme level was beyond his ability to challenge.
He couldn't explain why, but it seemed to be an unbreakable law etched into his very soul and blood, a cosmic truth he could never transgress.
However, since Yu Yiyi lacked the divine lineage, regardless of her past, she did not carry the blood of the Gods, and thus, he was not breaking any sacred laws by attacking her.
That's why he felt bold enough to strike.
"Gomez, she is a servant of the Lord of the Abyss, born in the Everlands era. Are you certain you want to make your move?"
Soulreaver Grimes, grotesque and resembling a massive tumor, extruded a giant eye from his pus-filled flesh. He watched Gomez, whose tentacles thrashed wildly in the air, and spoke icily, "Have you considered the consequences of daring to strike the servant of the Lord of the Abyss? What punishment awaits you?"
"Punishment? Hahaha!"
Gomez's flailing tentacles lashed out, causing the oversized Crucible of Evil to shudder violently.
Beneath the shadowy cauldron, Yu Yiyi marshaled the host of Banes within to combat the tentacles, ensuring they couldn't penetrate the cauldron and impale her meticulously crafted demonform.
"We once bowed to him, willing to follow him, but there was a condition. He and our creator from the Abyss had to be aligned! He is the will of our creator personified, representing our creator, and that's why we held him in high esteem."
Gomez sneered malevolently, hissing, "Now I see he's defying the creator's commands, parting ways with the creator! With that being the case, why should I continue to obey him?"
"Without our creator, he is nothing and has no right to continue as the Lord of the Abyss!"
"Exactly!"
Olliergues, who had captured Brie and was feasting on his flesh and blood, echoed the sentiment.
"If we must choose between him and the creator, we would undoubtedly choose the creator, not him!"
"Grimes, your race only rose to prominence among the many Abyssal races because of the Gods and his influence. That's why you and Hamm naturally gravitate towards him. We don't share that sentiment."
"Our race was a dominant force in the Abyss long before the rise of the Gods, before his ascent to the Lord of the Abyss. His emergence actually weakened our race. It was only after our creator departed and the Gods fell to the seventh level of the Abyss that we were able to rise again."
"We do not recognize his authority!"
"..."
The Evil Gods from the Abyss were not swayed by those aligned with the Gods and Yu Yuan. They each held their ground, arguing loudly in the hall.
The faction of Evil Gods that had benefited from the rise of the Gods and Yu Yuan naturally sided with Yu Yuan, filled with awe for him.
The other faction of Evil Gods, who had declined due to the ascent of the Gods and Yu Yuan, had previously bowed to Yu Yuan out of fear, not daring to defy him, and had worshipped him as the "Lord of the Abyss."
As they gradually realized that Yu Yuan, the Lord of the Abyss, seemed to be at odds with the other, they naturally gravitated towards the Creator deep within the earth's core.
*Snap! Crack!*
Gomez lashed the Crucible of Evil with his many tentacles, causing the cauldron to clang loudly. The dark glyphs and the surging magic power were dispersed by the strikes of his tentacles.
"You little wretch, you provoked me first. Without a lesson, you'll never understand your place!"
Gomez bellowed.
While he attacked, one of his tentacles, with an eye embedded within, kept a close watch on the Guardian.
He noticed the Guardian's silence, seemingly a tacit approval of his actions, which emboldened him.
"Hmm!"
Gomez's wildly flailing tentacles came to an abrupt halt when he noticed the Guardian's sudden change in expression.
The Guardian within the pillar seemed to have seen something utterly horrifying, and his spirited body floated up from the base of the pillar to the dome that the Demon God Bertain had shattered.
The guardian, assuming the form of an elder, stood at the mouth of the cave with his spirited body trembling slightly.
Boom!
The Evil Temple shook violently. To all the Evil Gods, this edifice, the symbol of ultimate power in the Abyss, seemed desperate to escape the gravitational pull of the Everlands and soar into the extraterrestrial, seeking refuge in the arms of someone.
"He's back!"
Grimes, the grotesque Soulreaver, floated like a bizarre, fleshy Evil God, emitting dazzling smoke as he ascended towards the dome.
Grimes was acutely aware that only one being could summon the Evil Temple and wrest it from the guardian's control—none other than the Lord of the Abyss, Yu Yuan!
"Master!"
Yu Yiyi, with the Crucible of Evil hovering above her head, felt her consciousness blur once more. Her transformed body was covered in an intricate network of green-black glyphs.
The images that flashed deep within her soul were ruthlessly wiped away, only to regenerate with astonishing speed.
"Why has he returned?"
"Bertain is gone, and yet he has actually returned!"
The Evil Gods exclaimed in shock, struggling to process the news.
The pardoned Evil Gods, now free to roam, could no longer contain their curiosity. Some followed the guardian and Grimes through the dome's aperture, while others took flight from the Holy Temple through its wide-open doors.
Those who ventured out found themselves adrift in the vastness of the Everlands, quickly noticing that many of the Gods' Most High had been stirred by the return of that individual. They were either suspended in midair or ascending rapidly towards the heavens.
Zu Ann, Qin Luo, the Grand Sword Immortals of the Sword Sect, and the newly anointed Most High all set their sights on the extraterrestrial realm.
Brie, whose life force was being siphoned away every moment by Olliergues' curse, saw his vision dimming. Yet, within his fading sight, a figure began to emerge.
"Yu, Yu Yuan."
Brie cried out silently, yearning for Yu Yuan to hear his inner voice and take notice of him.
"Yu Yuan!"
