C2275 Connecting the Two Realms
The surface.
When Yu Yuan encountered the Primal Blood of this realm, everyone naturally gathered around Lin Daoke, peppering him with questions about various details.
They inquired, for instance, about the circumstances of Yuan Le's death and whether Dark Phoenix Zhiya had once reigned supreme over the Beast God in the Wasteland.
They also wondered whether there were other intelligent lifeforms in the Wasteland besides the dominant Beast God, and what their combat strength might be.
Lin Daoke, not one for many words, would succinctly answer when he could and simply shake his head when faced with unfamiliar queries.
"Sect Master!"
Ji Ningshuang, also of the Sword Sect, made her way over from a distance and bowed meticulously.
"Mm."
Lin Daoke gave her a slight nod, his eyes reflecting a measure of pride, "You've done well."
His brief commendation spoke volumes of his high regard for Ji Ningshuang's accomplishments.
After receiving Lin Daoke's acknowledgment, the typically reserved Ji Ningshuang bowed and withdrew from the group.
Blessed by the extreme cold, she was practically a co-ruler of the Primal Blood Continent. Yet, upon Boulderdawn's arrival, she assumed the critical duty of safeguarding the Frostlands' gateway.
Now, both outsiders and insiders needed her approval to traverse the Frostlands.
She remained indifferent to all else, including those Sword Sect disciples loyal to the Primal Soul who ascended to greatness through their Origin.
Her focus was solely on awaiting Yu Yuan's return.
As Yu Yuan descended beneath the earth, with everyone crowding around Lin Daoke for insights into the Wasteland, she watched the fissure through which he vanished.
Contemplating whether to follow, she lamented silently, "I didn't even get the chance to exchange a few words."
...
Whoosh!
With the approach of the City of Light, the celestial expanse surrounding the Primal Blood Continent seemed to brighten incrementally.
Stars, the moon, streaking comets, and the luminescent meteoroids adrift in the void all intensified in brilliance.
The principles of light magic near the Primal Blood Continent appeared more distinct than ever.
As the City of Light came into view, Tan Xiaotian let out a derisive chuckle.
With a sweep of his sleeve, the Demon Lord vanished from sight, and in an instant, an immeasurable darkness engulfed the entire City of Light.
"What is Tan Xiaotian up to?"
"Has he lost his mind?"
Several God-Kings of Boulderdawn, including the Abyssal Leviathan and the little spinosaurus, were startled by Tan Xiaotian's actions.
Nobody anticipated Tan Xiaotian's sudden onslaught.
Brilliant beams of light burst forth from the City of Light, piercing the dense dark sea.
Yet, Tan Xiaotian's dark energy swiftly sealed the breaches, and darkness continued to shroud the City of Light.
The Dawnbringers' experts, along with Elena, who had attained the tenth level of her bloodline, were all engulfed by the dark sea, with none managing to break free.
"The City of Light, hmph!"
Tan Xiaotian's mocking laughter echoed within the city walls, "Being confined in this city for so long has been irksome! Cardo's failure to ascend to Supreme Being before his death is such a letdown!"
Curses filled the City of Light.
"Lord Taishi, what exactly does he intend to do?"
The Starborn, who have always maintained a friendly relationship with the Dawnbringers, were concerned. Beru, witnessing Tan Xiaotian's brazen behavior, asked anxiously, "Aren't you going to intervene?"
"There's nothing I can do," Taishi admitted, feeling helpless. He cast a glance at Lin Daoke, who remained unmoved, and added, "Without Bertain here, who could possibly restrain him?"
"Isn't Yu Yuan here?" Denise inquired softly.
"Rest assured. Tan Xiaotian isn't foolish. He's merely releasing some pent-up emotions," Taishi reassured everyone.
And sure enough.
The darkness that had consumed the City of Light, trapping all the experts including Canli, eventually receded, allowing a sliver of light to escape the dark sea and slowly drift away from the city.
"Lord Taishi, please inform me when Yu Yuan heads to the Wasteland. I'd like to join him," Tan Xiaotian's voice carried through as the boundless darkness outside the Primal Blood Continent began to dissipate.
"Why would you want to venture into the Wasteland?" Taishi asked, perplexed.
Tan Xiaotian offered no reply.
"I'm curious to see it for myself as well," Kaiya said with a charming smile, a spark of curiosity lighting up her spirited face. "With so many supreme beings emerging in the Wasteland, it's definitely worth witnessing."
"I want to go too!"
The Abyssal Leviathan was adamant this time. "Regardless of what Yu Yuan says, I'm determined to check it out!"
The little spinosaurus and individuals like Ann Ziqing were also itching to move.
Whoosh!
Canli, Elena, and Chen Liangquan abandoned the City of Light, descending from the crimson skies above.
Both Canli and Chen Liangquan wore troubled expressions.
Elena, on the other hand, appeared unfazed and even reassured Canli not to worry, reminding her that Tan Xiaotian was an eleventh-level supreme being, just one level above her for the time being.
As the chill on Canli's face melted away, Elena exchanged pleasantries with Denise of the Starborn before approaching Ji Ningshuang, who stood solitary before a subterranean fissure.
"Greetings, Ms. Ji."
Elena, now the leader of the Shura, greeted her with a respectful bow.
Ji Ningshuang glanced up and offered a slight nod in response.
Elena's smile broadened with relief.
Elena had encountered Ji Ningshuang here in the past, while the latter was delving into the mysteries of ice. It was Ji Ningshuang's leniency that had allowed Elena to emerge unscathed.
Despite her icy demeanor and reticence, Elena felt a sense of closeness to the female Sword Immortal.
Suddenly, a gleam sparked in Ji Ningshuang's eyes.
A trace of delight crossed her lips. While others were still discussing Tan Xiaotian and the movements of the Primal Anima in the Wasteland, she followed Yu Yuan's path down the fissure, descending towards the planet's core.
The onlookers realized she must have been summoned by Yu Yuan and paid it no further attention.
...
In the Wasteland, within the Creitecesh region.
Atop the Peak of Creation sat the Wellspring of Creation, beside which the Tree of Life's branches rustled, maintaining a constant dialogue with Mother Earth.
Mother Earth, having withdrawn underground, disregarded the Tree of Life's overtures.
The Demon God Bertain, having dealt with the threats, had already departed. Green Willow and Loong Jie, after a hefty harvest of water essence and golden psionic power from the All Spirits Ban, also took their leave under the guise of exploring the Wasteland.
Crack!
Within the immense thunder vortex left by Bertain, Qi Yunhong encircled the Thunder Pool, striving for supremacy under the guidance of the Thunder Spirit.
Yu Yuan, embodying the Undead Sovereign, stood at a corner of the Wellspring of Creation, deep in conversation with Youyu.
"Should I confront him first, or head to the other side?"
Youyu, attuned to his thoughts, glanced at the desolate spring as he mentioned the other side.
"Once my true self returns, having grasped the profound truths of life from the Abyss, the Solar Spirit will instantly be informed of everything. Then, I can begin refining that piece of flesh," Yu Yuan said, eyeing the Wellspring of Creation. "After the flesh is refined, I'll decide whether to tackle this formidable foe first or explore the mysteries of the Underworld."
"Mmm, that seems more prudent," Youyu agreed with a nod.
They continued their casual banter while keeping an eye on Qi Yunhong's ascension. Youyu's mind occasionally reached out to the Lunar Meridian within the soul stone.
That day, the Star of Light and Mother Earth burst forth from the Peak of Creation in alarm.
"The Wasteland and the Origin Realm are no longer divided by barriers!"
"They've shattered!"
Both Primal Animas detected the sudden shift in the cosmos simultaneously.
"Who's responsible for this?"
Yu Yuan asked, his brow furrowed.
"An anomaly within the Dark Phoenix's Purple Sea has ripped through the barrier separating the realms, shattering the millennia-old obstruction," the Light Spirit chirped frantically. "I saw it all clearly; the moons and stars are my eyes."
"What in the world is inside the Purple Sea?" Youyu exclaimed, astounded.
Previously, Yuan Le could only create a passage at opportune moments.
Once used, the passage would seal itself as before.
But the entity within the Purple Sea had torn through the realms' divide. It had accomplished what the enigmatic being had intended for Zhong Chichen to do.
