C2330 The Old Devil Returned

In the Origin Realm of Zionidall, the vibrant butterfly spirit pet remained suspended in the starry sky, patiently awaiting Devitt's arrival. The existence of the creature had caused the formation of luminous void cracks, within which the mysterious undulations of space suggested the stability of the space rules.

The Boulderdawn experts, along with the surviving Otherkin elites from the Origin Realm, gathered around Kaiya, pressing her for answers about Demon God Bertain's sudden entanglement with the deities of the Otherworld. Kaiya, with an open heart, admitted her limited knowledge and struggled to provide clear responses. She shared only what she had witnessed: her father, revered by the intelligent life in the Otherworld, was likely a personage of great importance there.

"Who would have thought that the Demon God, trusted by all races of the Origin Realm, had long since allied with the gods of the extraterrestrial?" mused the Abyssal Leviathan with a cold scoff. He, along with Starpierced, Titan Turtle, and the City of Light, abruptly took flight from Zionidall.

Their convergence was due to the ferocious lightning within Dread Mount, capable of delivering a crippling blow to the Primal Soul upon its descent. Now, with all the lightning energy transferred to the Everlands, Zionidall had lost its protective power. Lingering on the continent no longer held any significance.

With a swift whoosh, Ji Ningshuang, wielding the Stardust Blade, materialized beside the resplendent butterfly. Her eyebrows arched sharply, her gaze as piercing as a blade. "Otherworld, spiritual pet," she murmured. In response, several ice tempests burst forth in the nearby cosmos, each storm brimming with an intense chill and ice shards that flew like crystalline swords, their presence awe-inspiring.

Ningshuang's mastery of ice magic and the enigmatic secrets of the stars infused the tempests, swiftly enveloping the butterfly in a display of frigid wonder.

"Uh!" The sudden disturbance caused Taixu and the other God-Kings to shift their attention, halting their interrogation of Kaiya.

"What are you up to?" demanded the Abyssal Leviathan, pausing his departure to stroke his chin thoughtfully upon Starpierced. A fierce grin spread across his face. "Even if you slay this butterfly, you won't escape."

After the arrival of the Space God, Devitt, the Void Rules of the Origin Realm were affected. Ji Ningshuang dared to target his spiritual pet—was she not afraid of death?

"I am under orders to kill it."

Ji Ningshuang's response was crisp and decisive.

In Zionidall, she had been content to simply listen to the conversations around her. When Han Miaoyuan, the Evil God, and the Sky Fiend arrived, she merely nodded in acknowledgment to the likes of Yue Mu and Van Heqing of the Sword Sect.

Beyond that, she seemed indifferent to everything else.

The startling revelations from Kaiya about the disturbances within Dread Mount and the dramatic events unfolding in the Wasteland had not captured her particular interest.

Yet, just moments ago, a message had quietly come through from the prismatic ice crystal that had drifted to an unknown location within the Origin Realm.

It compelled her to strike down the colorful butterfly that accompanied Devitt, to force the Space God to reveal himself immediately!

She was unclear why the command had come so abruptly after such a long silence, but she chose to comply.

Gigantic ice tempests surged toward the colorful butterfly as she wielded her sword with seeming nonchalance.

With each stroke, a dazzling River of Swords streaked toward the butterfly left in Devitt's wake.

The butterfly, resembling a Voidweaver, fluttered through the massive ice tempests, constantly creating new void cracks in its desperate attempts to evade Ji Ningshuang's sword light.

Slash!

Within the swirling ice tempest, shards of ice transformed into piercing sword light, targeting the fleeing butterfly.

This spirit animal, of a tenth-level extraterrestrial lineage, soon bore numerous wounds on its wings, and vibrant blood began to drip from the void.

The colorful butterfly shrieked, reaching out to Devitt with its arcane techniques, pleading for its master to come quickly.

Despite its mastery of space magic, the butterfly from the Otherworld hesitated to flee without Devitt, its master, and thus continued to suffer injuries.

"Ms. Ji, what are you... doing?"

Youqian inquired, his brow furrowed.

They had been gathering more information about Bertain from Kaiya, seeking to understand the truth first. No one had anticipated that the Stardust Blade, who typically remained aloof from worldly affairs, would suddenly make a move against the colorful butterfly.

As soon as Ji Ningshuang took action, they had to immediately respond to Devitt, and possibly other gods from the Otherworld as well. Youqian, born a Star-Spawned Terror and a long-time admirer of Bertain, was unwilling to believe that his spiritual leader would conspire with the Otherworld Gods to harm the Origin Realm.

Ji Ningshuang ignored the distractions, unleashing a more splendid display of her River of Swords, cutting through the colorful butterflies fluttering amidst the ice tempest. The butterflies' screeches grew increasingly shrill.

With a whoosh, the imposing Space God, Devitt, finally revealed himself, his expression stern. Observing the barrage of ice shard sword light and the massive ice tempests swirling around the butterflies, he commanded, "Void Cut!"

The once static, bright space rifts, brought forth by the butterflies, now seemed to be seized by Devitt's power, twisting and intertwining in the air with a series of cracks.

Before Devitt, the void shattered like a massive mirror, leaving a chaotic array of broken spaces. The piercing sword light Ji Ningshuang had launched from her Divine Sword entered one vertical "mirror" in the void, only to emerge from another horizontal "mirror." The numerous ice tempests were also shredded into fragments under Devitt's force.

Ji Ningshuang's intense assault was neutralized by a single command from Devitt, the Space God, "Void Cut."

"I sense the Arctic Breath from a distance," Devitt said with a frosty demeanor, peering at Ji Ningshuang through the irregular "mirrors" surrounding the butterfly. "In our world, many yearn for Primal Anima like this, seeking to refine it to break their bonds."

"This is Lord Bertain's domain, where no one dares to trespass without cause, thus the ice spirit remains unharmed."

Devitt's gaze hardened as he declared, "Since he has dared to provoke me, I will not indulge him. Young lady, either you refine it, or I will send someone else to do so."

He was clear about the precise location of the ice spirit in this realm and was prepared to secure it, then summon the mighty from the other side, treating the ice spirit as a bargaining chip to be traded.

"Alright, Devitt, your work here is done."

As he was about to delve deeper and add a few more words, a boisterous laugh echoed from within Dread Mount.

"Bertain!"

"It's truly the Demon God, Bertain!"

All eyes and attention were instinctively drawn to the source of the voice.

"Father..."

Kaiya, clad in a snug purple battle robe trimmed with gold, murmured softly with a complex gaze as she hovered above the Tears of the Azurefiend.

She knew that her father had managed to return successfully due to the arrival of Devitt, the Space God.

Whoosh!

The Great Demon God, Bertain, appeared on Devitt's colorful butterfly, donning a voluminous blood-red cloak.

From the opposite end of the butterfly's wings, he cheerfully looked at Ji Ningshuang, then turned his gaze to the mighty ones of Zionidall, waving his hand as he spoke, "Well done, well done. None of you have let me down."

"Hey, you..."

Catching a glimpse of the Abyssal Leviathan, he suddenly shook his head and remarked, "You're even slower than Green Willow."

The Abyssal Leviathan, feeling the sting of the comment, wore a look of utter displeasure.

"Old Patriarch!"

Youqian called out, piloting the Blood Altar out of Zionidall. This esteemed Sky Fiend, who had always revered Bertain, proclaimed loudly, "Old Patriarch, I, Youqian, have faith in you!"

"Ha! My boy, you're my own handiwork, and you've certainly lived up to my expectations," the big devil replied with a hearty chuckle.

The grand blood-red cloak he wore billowed like an extension of his demonform, rustling in the cosmic expanse.

His devil soul was concealed within the cloak, and at the heart of his soul, a peculiar orb of light spun slowly, exuding the mysterious essence of the Way of Heaven.

The orb seemed to be his very heart!

"Lord Bertain, the Chaos Orb you've crafted is increasingly formidable."

Devitt offered a respectful bow, his eyes fixed on the glowing orb nestled within the chest area of Bertain's cloak on the other butterfly wing, and said, "With this Chaos Orb, you are sure to penetrate the Heart of the Everlands and assimilate the entity hidden within."

Upon hearing this, the big devil, freshly returned from the Otherworld, burst into laughter.

Once his mirth subsided, he gestured dismissively and commanded, "Make your way to the Creitecesh in the Wasteland."

He spoke with the authority of a superior, issuing commands to the Space God from the Otherworld.

The Space God appeared well accustomed to such treatment, offering a slight nod in response. He chose not to delve into the incident involving his colorful butterfly being harmed by Ji Ningshuang, asking no further questions before slipping into a space rift.

Remarkably, he had entrusted his spirit animal, a colorful butterfly of the tenth level bloodline, to the Great Demon God Bertain.
