C2376 The Evolution of the Primal Anima
The Light Spirit, now merely a spectral presence, maintained a cautious silence amidst the mocking words directed at it. It was acutely aware of its lack of strength to oppose the other, and unlike Mother Earth, it had no desire to seek death. Left with no alternative, it temporarily betrayed its own principles and engaged in deceitful dialogue.
"You are quite remarkable, which is why I'm inclined to converse with you a bit more."
While keeping an eye on the movements of the other Primal Anima, it casually conversed with the Light Spirit.
"In our ranks, there aren't many who have reached your level and managed to assimilate the mysteries of multiple rules."
The Light Spirit, having integrated the ultimate truths of the Way of Heaven – the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars – was evidently regarded with significance.
It was well aware that if the Light Spirit managed to possess Canli successfully, it could pose a problem, especially with the formidable amplification within the Genesis Nebula. To preemptively eliminate this risk, it had the Moonborn Spirit inhabit Canli's body.
The Spirit of Fate, with a knowing smile, suggested, "Before you venture into the Domain of Origin and part ways with Yu Yuan, you ought to take Canli's body with you."
At this moment, the Light Spirit, confined to its soul form, found itself powerless, without even the slightest opportunity to resist, for it lacked a physical vessel to wield its full might.
Upon hearing this, the Light Spirit's profound gaze fell upon Canli, now under the Moonborn Spirit's control. Canli, radiating moonlight with a crescent moon suspended above her, trailed by Loong Jie and Green Willow, advanced steadily toward the Book of Time.
Sensing the Light Spirit's watchful eye, "Canli" abruptly turned and offered a gentle smile.
"By merging with my power, along with the power of the sun and the stars, you have provided me with revelation and direction."
Speaking through Canli, the Moonborn Spirit's visage was etched with a chilling resolve as she declared, "I will use this body to grasp the laws of light that you command. When that time comes, whether or not you willingly pledge your allegiance, it will be out of your hands!"
A flicker of concern crossed the Light Spirit's features.
"Hehe, once he devours that young girl, you'll lose any chance of claiming her for yourself," the Spirit of Fate said with a chuckle.
The amethyst wand that had pierced Mother Earth's body was now withdrawn by the Spirit of Fate. As it was removed, Mother Earth's shell crumbled to dust and scattered into the heavens.
"Dealing with him at the Peak of Creation is actually quite straightforward," the Spirit of Fate remarked, pointing the amethyst wand towards Taishi with a tone of indifference. "Firstly, by accessing his body, I've uncovered the secrets of the earth. Next, all I need to do is eliminate this supreme being known as Taishi, and he'll be left without a second body to inhabit."
Stephanie's golden eyes brimmed with emotion as she let out a deep sigh. "It's disheartening that we, beings of such extraordinary nature, are still constrained by the lack of a physical form, unable to fully manifest our powers."
"You're without Canli, he's without his previous body, and soon, without Taishi, both of you, despite your immense divine powers, will struggle to wield your full might," declared the deity possessing Stephanie, her expression cold and detached. "I will rectify this shortcoming!"
"We are deities; we should not be confined by flesh! I have discovered the solution to these so-called imperfections, which is why they submit to me!"
With a casual flick of her wand, Stephanie gestured towards the foreheads of the supreme beings. Above Ballo, Loong Jie, Green Willow, and Yuan Lianyao, a vivid tableau of light and shadows materialized.
The Spirit of the Stars, the Golden Spirit, and others seemed to feast on the spiritual consciousness and souls of the supreme beings and gods, emitting eerie sounds of contentment.
"Primal Anima must first possess emotions, understanding joy, anger, and sorrow. Only after ascending to godhood can I employ my method to assimilate the supreme beings that correspond to them," the Spirit of Fate proclaimed, a radiant glow of sanctity on its face. "I will ensure they all possess their own spirited bodies!"
The Light Spirit and the Little Primal Beast quivered gently.
Simultaneously, Yu Yuan, engrossed in the Book of Time, watched the Spirit of Fate's every move, hanging on its every word.
As the God of Time, Heesters, approached, he unfurled ribbons of the River of Time from within himself, encircling the Book of Time. Yu Yuan could feel the overwhelming might of Heesters and the formidable force of time emanating from the River of Time.
He realized that the gods and supreme beings, commanded by the Spirit of Fate, would likely struggle to traverse Heesters's River of Time without much effort on his part.
"Until the Primal Anima unleashes its true emotions, it can only possess the supreme beings it has created or extinguish their spirited bodies," the Spirit of Fate said, quite pleased with its creation. "But this isn't enough, not nearly enough! Possessing them in this manner, the supreme beings are merely puppets, they still don't truly belong to the Primal Anima."
"To fully assimilate the supreme being's body, one must completely consume its soul. Only then does the body truly become theirs! They must first immerse themselves within the supreme being's body, spending a great deal of time understanding the supreme being's complex emotions and desires. After awakening and undergoing a metamorphosis, they evolve from Primal Anima into deities."
"When that time comes, they can harvest the fruit and consume the supreme beings."
Stephanie said this with a radiant smile.
Upon hearing her words, Yu Yuan's eyes involuntarily drifted over Loong Jie, Ballo, and Green Willow. He could sense that the spirited bodies and spiritual sense of the three supreme beings were being eroded by the Primal Anima within them.
Piecing together the Spirit of Fate's statement, he surmised that once supreme beings like Loong Jie, Ballo, and Green Willow were completely consumed, the satiated Primal Animas would become the rightful owners of their bodies!
This was not mere possession; it was an elevated form of transformation!
The Primal Animas would first evolve into deities, who would then devour the souls of the supreme beings, thereby acquiring their own corporeal forms!
This formidable Spirit of Fate had paved a way for all Primal Animas to ascend!
"Yu Yuan!"
Qi Yunhong called out loudly.
Looking up, Yu Yuan saw a bolt of lightning transform into a dark green river just as it reached Qi Yunhong's head, poised to pour into him from above.
The Thunder Spirit was the quickest to heed the call of the Spirit of Fate. Before Heesters could unfurl the River of Time, it had already entered the void above the Book of Time.
The slender dark green river harbored the cosmic order understood by the Thunder Spirit, a fusion of its spiritual sense.
Qi Yunhong wailed in despair, "After nurturing me in the Abyss and elevating me to the pinnacle of supremacy, is this how it all ends?"
The secrets of the Way of Heaven and the bloodline chain etched into his blood and soul now seemed like a lifeless pond.
Despite his efforts, he was unable to harness the thunder magic that he had deeply understood and integrated into his very being.
Powerless to call upon the strength granted by the Thunder Spirit, he found himself at a loss against the encroaching thunderous will seeking to possess him.
"I am without recourse," he lamented.
A faint sigh echoed above Qi Yunhong's head.
In an instant, a spectral stream surged towards Qi Yunhong's crown.
Yet, this rivulet, forged by the Thunder Spirit, failed to penetrate Qi Yunhong's consciousness and could not effortlessly usurp his vessel.
The stream cascaded onto a hand, which appeared as ancient ice but housed a core of red crystal.
At first glance, it seemed to embody the frigid depths of the Primal Blood Continent, enveloping the realm's very essence.
This was the hand of Yu Yuan, reaching out unexpectedly.
He had converted his life power into a sheath of bitter cold ice, enveloping his hand, thwarting the invading consciousness of the Thunder Spirit.
With a mere thought from Yu Yuan, the Thunder Spirit's soul was swiftly captured by his hand, confined by the ice he had formed.
In that moment, Yu Yuan had an epiphany, recalling the Obsidian Thunder Sect's revered artifact—the Glacial Storm Seal.
The Glacial Storm Seal could harmonize with the Thunder Spirit!
Without a host like Qi Yunhong or a suitable physical form, the Thunder Spirit's soul was the most vulnerable and powerless among the pantheon of mighty deities converging upon it.
Only when confronting Qi Yunhong could it leverage its dominion over the Way of Heaven to compel his surrender.
Apart from Qi Yunhong, before the Thunder Spirit could find another to possess, its lone soul was hardly a match for anyone recorded in the Book of Time.
Yu Yuan's ingenious response, transforming the quintessence of his flesh into a divine hand of frost, was to engulf and subdue the Thunder Spirit within the ice.
"Just keep me confined and prevent me from leaving. There's nothing I can do about it."
Immediately, a wave of despondency from the Thunder Spirit washed over Yu Yuan through his icy grip.
Yu Yuan understood that the Thunder Spirit, merely a wraith, feared being extinguished by the Spirit of Fate and had no choice but to comply.
"Alright."
Yu Yuan gave a slight nod and withdrew his hand from the ice.
Though his hand was removed, the ice remained, with the thunder ball inside still clearly visible.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Outside the Book of Time.
Under Heesters' command, the River of Time, brimming with the Divine Power of Time, wound around the substantial tome like a lively serpent.
The River of Time released by Heesters possessed the power to decelerate time, influencing all the supreme beings and deities!
Those who surged toward the Book of Time, such as Loong Jie, Ballo, Yuan Lianyao, and Green Willow's Primal Anima, along with the native gods of the Otherworld, found themselves hindered by the temporal force upon nearing the River of Time. Their actions grew lethargic and awkward, their behavior peculiar.
Should they inadvertently be touched by the River of Time, they would suddenly become disoriented, as if trapped in bygone eras.
Even more daunting was Heesters' display of his ability to reverse time when he unleashed his divine power and manipulated the rule of time—a fearsome theurgy renowned in the Otherworld.
Under the influence of this temporal reversal, the Primal Animas that had overtaken the supreme beings slowly sensed a resurgence in those they had once thoroughly subdued.
It was akin to their gradual reclamation of spiritual sense upon entering the Domain of Origin and the Genesis Nebula.
Due to the reversal of time, it was as if Heesters' force had yanked them back to a state before their possession of the supreme beings.
Heesters' might instilled fear and silent awe in them, marveling at how this towering skeleton, devoid of any Primal Animas, remained such a formidable adversary.
"Incredible!"
"This fellow is truly formidable; I hadn't realized it before!"
Qi Yunhong, having narrowly averted disaster, gazed at the towering white skeleton and continuously expressed his admiration.
Heesters, second only to Stephanie in the Otherworld's hierarchy of combat prowess, retained firm control over the divine power of time, even after the Spirit of Time had departed from his body.
His fearsome and enigmatic divine power of time, unleashed through the hourglass, allowed him to single-handedly restrain all the supreme beings who had come to invade.
Taishi, Youyu, and the rest felt a slight sense of relief as they faced the onslaught of gods and malevolent spirits.
