C297 Legend of the Mysterious Realm
Three hundred years on, this place came to be known as the Forgotten Ruins.
Deep within the Forgotten Ruins, there lay not only a teleportation circle under the control of the Ethereal Void Sect, which provided direct access to the continent of Euwrea, but also an uncharted mysterious realm.
Yu Yuan roamed the forest alone, his mind adrift with thoughts.
Each teleportation circle was a costly endeavor, far beyond the means of minor sects.
Teleportation circles existed across the three continents of Euwrea, Quiescence, and Aetherius, either overtly or in secret.
Yet, their control was almost exclusively in the hands of the three great upper sects, the Devil Palace, and Shadow's Keep.
Only these upper sects, along with the Devil Palace and Shadow's Keep, had the financial and human resources to construct such circles.
Even the seven lower sects of Quiescence, including the Ruby Hand and Colddeath, lacked this capability.
However, on the continent of Quiescence, the Artifact Sect and the Skyreach Consortium also maintained their own teleportation circles for travel between Aetherius and Euwrea.
Yu Yuan was aware that at the height of its power three hundred years ago, the Forgeroses also possessed a teleportation circle.
But following the decline of the Forgeroses, that circle had fallen into disuse for various reasons.
Years later, the Ethereal Void Sect emerged as yet another power with a teleportation circle at its disposal.
Moreover, this particular circle was situated within the Forgotten Ruins.
The Thunder Sect, Winter's Bite, Starmoon Sect, Abyssal Dawn, and others relied on this circle for their journeys to the Forgotten Ruins, or when traveling to the Sunblessed Empire and Silvermoon Empire.
Each use of the circle required a substantial payment in soulstones to the Ethereal Void Sect.
Wang Jinlin, despite Liu Ying's evident displeasure, was granted access to the Fallen Star Eyes, likely due to his affiliation with the Ethereal Void Sect.
The presence of the teleportation circle gave the Ethereal Void Sect a significant edge, explaining the arrogance of its members.
Beyond the circle, there was the Mystic Gate, previously discovered by the army's commander. Should the rumors hold true, the Forgotten Ruins are set to become an even busier hub of activity.
The Everlands are brimming with infinite mysteries, coveted by the Star-Spawned Terror and various Otherkin.
In rare instances, a unique little world can emerge, forming an independent space filled with enigmatic wonders, known as a Mysterious Realm.
Some Mysterious Realms occur naturally, while others are crafted by the primordial spirit.
Only a primordial spirit, transcending the mundane and mastering the cosmic order, can expend its vast divine power to create such a realm.
The act of forging a space and birthing a new little world is a feat exclusive to the primordial spirit!
The Innate Mysterious Realm, however, is a masterpiece of nature itself, a divine creation.
Yu Yuan is uncertain whether the Mysterious Realm concealed within the Forgotten Ruins is of innate or acquired origin.
Yet, should it indeed be a Mysterious Realm, its opening would surely set the world astir!
Legend has it that once a Mysterious Realm is fully explored, its wonders cease to exist.
Conversely, those that remain hidden likely harbor untold mysteries.
A Mysterious Realm of this kind holds immense value. If one could claim and privatize it, it would represent a vast treasure for a mighty sect!
The three upper sects, along with the Devil Palace and Shadow's Keep, each possess their own secluded Mysterious Realm, inaccessible to outsiders and even to Outer Sect disciples within their own ranks.
The Ethereal Void Sect, having ascended to the forefront of the seven lower sects after supplanting the Forgeroses, invested heavily in constructing a teleportation circle within the Forgotten Ruins. Could their aim be the Mysterious Realm?
If so, the Thunder Sect, Winter's Bite Sect, Abyssal Dawn Sect, and Starmoon Sect might also be vying for a piece of the action.
The commander of the Blackfang Legion, besieged on all sides, will not be easily slain. Instead, they will wear her down!
They will push her to the brink of collapse, forcing her, in her direst hour, to seek out the Mystic Gate. This, in turn, will reveal clues for the factions to trace and pinpoint the Mysterious Realm's location.
Liu Ying, wielding the Fallen Star Eyes, perched high above, her gaze fixed on the Forgotten Ruins. It was likely that she was keeping a close watch on her surroundings.
The places she visited and the scope of her activities were probably under Liu Ying's vigilant surveillance.
It's even possible that Liu Ying had covertly scouted the areas she had frequented, yet she had not pinpointed the location of the Mystic Gate, so she continued to watch and wait.
For now, Liu Ying seemed to be the sole representative of the Starmoon Sect. However, once the Mystic Gate is revealed, I suspect it won't be long before others arrive.
The Mystic Gate is of immense significance. All seven of the great lower sects of Euwrea are strategizing around it.
Are the three upper sects still in the dark, or do they dismiss the rumors as just that, unworthy of their attention until something concrete occurs?
Have the Devil Palace and Shadow's Keep from the Land of Quiescence gotten wind of this? Will they send envoys to delve into the matter later on?
The myths surrounding the Mystic Gate and the escape route of the Blackfang Legion have thrust the Forgotten Ruins into the spotlight, causing Yu Yuan some concern.
The Phaseblossom he and Yu Zhu were cultivating had yet to bear fruit.
He had hoped to quietly cultivate a series of medicinal gardens, breaking through the Yu family's current plight and establishing a foundation as a prominent herbal house.
Now, with the rumors of the Mysterious Realm, he feared for the safety of his unique flora...
The thought alone was enough to give him a headache.
He was aware that his advancement in the Golden Sanctum was lagging, so he had intentionally planted those rare spiritual herbs, planning to refine a batch of pills to rapidly enhance the gathering of spiritual energy in the elixir field once they matured.
Yet before they could ripen, they risk being discovered by the cultivators of the seven lower sects, who would surely take an interest.
In the desolate expanse of the Forgotten Ruins, if those individuals set their sights on his crop, would he even retain a share once it matured?
"I had chosen this place for its utter isolation, a barren land untouched by man or beast. Little did I know that the arrival of that commander and the tales of a Mysterious Realm would suddenly turn it into a coveted hotspot."
Seething with anger, Yu Yuan couldn't help but look up and glare fiercely at the night sky.
Liu Ying had set him down in a place far removed from Yu Zhu, Qin Yun, and the others. Even when he reached out with his heaven soul, he couldn't sense anything.
Liu Ying and Wang Jinlin were still conversing beside the aerolite. Yu Yuan walked the land alone, uncertain of what lay ahead.
The one thing he was sure of was that with the Fallen Star Eyes in his possession, Liu Ying might be monitoring his every move.
The thought of being under constant surveillance, of being found at any time, with nowhere to hide, left him feeling stifled. After a moment of frustration, he decided to simply sit down and meditate.
He cleared the chaotic thoughts from his mind, took out a soulstone, and began his cultivation practice.
With a mere thought, streams of spiritual energy flowed into his lower elixir field.
He shut out the outside world and silently channeled the Nine Glories Wheel, drawing spiritual energy from the soulstone and absorbing it through the pores of his skin, along with the fine spiritual energy permeating the Forgotten Ruins.
The spiritual energy of the Forgotten Ruins paled in comparison to that of the Moonfall Sanctuary.
The spiritual energy in the Moonfall Sanctuary was more turbulent, laden with impurities and toxins. However, in terms of sheer volume, it far exceeded that of the Forgotten Ruins.
Moreover, his practice of the Nine Glories Wheel and Evil Body Refining techniques meant he didn't have to worry about the impurities and toxins in the Moonfall Sanctuary's spiritual energy.
This allowed him to advance his cultivation at an astonishing pace within the Moonfall Sanctuary.
In the desolate Forgotten Ruins, devoid of life, if it weren't for the soulstone, he wondered how long it would take to achieve a breakthrough in the Golden Sanctum with only the sparse divine force to aid his cultivation.
"One must not be hasty in cultivation."
A figure in white appeared, drifting over like a specter in the chill of the night.
Yu Yuan jolted awake, "Lord State Preceptor!"
The visitor was none other than Zhou Cangmin, the State Preceptor of the Crimson Sun Empire, with whom he had shared a heartfelt exchange in the Moonfall Sanctuary.
He remained a Lunar Spirit, solitary yet graceful, with a gentle smile.
"We meet again," Zhou Cangmin said with a light chuckle.
Yu Yuan wasn't flustered.
He was well aware that if Zhou Cangmin had intended to harm him, he would have taken action back at the Moonfall Sanctuary, not wasted words.
"Did the state preceptor come here seeking the legendary Mysterious Realm?" Yu Yuan inquired, surprised.
"No," Zhou Cangmin shook his head. "I'm here to ensure the commander's survival."
Yu Yuan grew even more intrigued. "Do you know each other?"
Zhou Cangmin hummed in affirmation, then stated, "You're going to help me."
"Me?" Yu Yuan pointed to his own nose.
"Yes, you," Zhou Cangmin confirmed with certainty. "Also, those herbs you've cultivated are quite impressive."
