C385 Unable to Hold It in He Was Beaten to Death!

Within the City Lord's Mansion, a standoff was brewing.

Su Kui, Van Xuan, and others had arrived with a clear purpose: to ascertain the current state of the Absence Relic. Their goal was to leverage Yuan Lianyao's knowledge to learn about the Silvermoon Queen's predicament, hoping that Yuan Lianyao would join them in their campaign against the Lee family.

Yuan Lianyao, the City Lord of Darkmoon, enjoyed the support of the Red Devil Sect, aligning her with their cause.

Through various sources, they had learned of a dramatic shift within the Absence Relic. Rumors swirled of a coveted secret realm deep within, an area that had the seven lower sects salivating with desire.

The Spirit Void Sect had gone so far as to construct a massive space teleportation array, establishing a direct link to the Heavenly Source Continent.

Darkmoon City's proximity to the Absence Relic made it a strategic stronghold.

Should Yuan Lianyao agree to their plan, they intended to establish a significant presence of their kin in Darkmoon City, allowing them to delve deeper into the Absence Relic over time. This would facilitate a union between their forces, the secret realm, and the seven lower sects.

Lim Mu harbored similar ambitions, but his were tinged with personal gain. He sought to exploit the dynastic transition to aid the Cold Yin Sect and the Lim family by eliminating Yu Yuan and the troublesome Yu family.

The Cold Yin Sect had already made their move, arranging a marriage for Lim Zhuyun with a distinguished disciple from the Primordial Yang Sect.

The matter of Lim Zhuyun's marriage needed to be settled without blemish, as any misstep could jeopardize the entire affair.

Lim Mu, an elder of the Lim family, had long been critical of the arranged marriage between Lim Zhuyun and Yu Yuan, having openly opposed it.

Despite his disdain for Lim Hanyu, Lim Mu held a soft spot for Lim Zhuyun, a rising star of the third generation. He had agreed to meet with Lim Hanyu and endorse him as the next family patriarch, motivated not only by the Cold Yin Sect's assurances but also by the fact that Lim Hanyu was Lim Zhuyun's father.

Lim Zhuyun was the Lim family's shining beacon, the one most likely to ascend to the Yin God Stage and perhaps even reach the esteemed level of Soul Wandering.

He was determined to clear a path for Lim Zhuyun in the Profound Sky Continent, refusing to let a blunder like Yu Yuan's tarnish her prospects.

Thus, after Su Kui, Su Kang, and Van Xuan exchanged views with Yuan Lianyao and silently concurred on the Lee family issue, Lim Mu dredged up old grievances and resumed his inquiries about Yu Yuan's whereabouts.

Confronted by the domineering Lim Mu, Yu Cann's expression grew somber. Bowing his head, he admitted that the man was untraceable.

Zhao Zhenghao, patriarch of the Zhao family, inwardly lamented, recognizing that the Yu family's greatest predicament was the lack of a powerful sect backing them.

The Zhao family, having caught the eye of the White Divine Tiger through Zhao Yafu's emergence, was now linked to the Demon Palace. This alliance gave Zhao Zhenghao the audacity to stand tall within the hall.

Su Kui and his peers wouldn't dare cross the Demon Palace, maintaining a courteous stance towards him. Similarly, due to the Red Devil Sect's influence, they refrained from openly faulting Yuan Lianyao.

Only when dealing with Yu Cann did they allow themselves such insolence, while the Yin God Stage practitioners—Su Kui, Su Kang, and Van Xuan—remained silent, evidently deeming it a trivial issue.

"Yu Yuan is in the Absence Relic. Feel free to search for him," Yuan Lianyao said with a disarming smile, attempting to defuse the situation for Yu Cann. "Elder Lim, we are in Darkmoon City, and as its City Lord, I must insist that we abide by its laws."

"Rules?" Lim Mu scoffed. "The empire is in disarray. Day and night, lives are lost! Without a new sovereign to establish order, what rules are there to speak of? Rules are crafted by the ruler of a nation! And without one at the helm, what new rules could possibly exist?"

Though Yuan Lianyao had the Red Devil Sect's support, Lim Mu only extended her minimal courtesy. After all, she was merely at the Penetrating Stage, lacking the cultivation of a Yin God.

To Lim Mu, Yuan Lianyao didn't possess the stature to engage with him as an equal, nor the power to shield the Yu family and Yu Cann.

"The modest Yu family hardly warrants such concern from you." Van Xuan allowed a wry smile to play across his lips, his tone nonchalant. "The female general, your equal in the empire, is now in the clutches of the Huang family, bound by my own hand. The Lee family will be stricken from the empire's annals. In the grand scheme of things, some loss of life is inevitable."

His words carried an unmistakable threat.

Yuan Lianyao's face registered a flicker of concern.

Lee Yuchan, of Yin God Stage prowess and a practitioner of the Martyr Spell, had been subdued?

Could it be that the illustrious Lee family would crumble in an instant due to Lee Yuchan's actions? Would the empire suffer a crippling blow, leaving it vulnerable against the neighboring Rainier and Divine Might Empires?

"Eh?"

Out of the blue, Su Kui's brow furrowed as he glanced over his shoulder.

The others picked up on the cue, each sensing something.

Su Xiangtian, acting head of the Su family, inhaled deeply, steadying his nerves before turning expectantly toward the threshold.

"Yu Yuan has arrived!"

Yuan Lianyao, clad in a crimson gown, caught his scent and her eyes sparkled with delight. Her smile, both seductive and radiant, seemed to ease all tension from her being.

In stark contrast, Yu Cann was a picture of distress, his head snapping up in alarm.

The patriarch's face was etched with worry and his hands involuntarily tightened into fists.

"Why now? Of all times, why come at this moment?"

The old man was internally screaming, his eyes beseeching Yuan Lianyao with a silent plea. He implored her through a subtle shake of his head to telepathically warn Yu Yuan to stay away.

"What's there to fear?"

Yuan Lianyao, understanding his thoughts and his anxiety, smiled reassuringly, her beauty radiant as a garden in full bloom. "Your grandson is more than capable! If he can survive the treacherous Absence Relic, Darkmoon City is hardly a challenge. This situation is nothing to him."

As she spoke, Yu Cann looked utterly bewildered, wondering if the City Lord had lost her senses.

Zhao Zhenghao was utterly astounded, his feelings a mix of skepticism and a faint glimmer of hope.

The Yin Gods, however, were unimpressed. They saw no significance or substance in Yuan Lianyao's claims.

Could Yu Yuan really stir up any trouble in the Absence Relic?

Among those gathered, only Su Xiangtian, who had previously encountered Yu Yuan in both the Fallen Moon Forbidden Area and the Absence Relic, believed her words.

Su Xiangtian, who had remained quiet throughout, subtly straightened up, his eyes gleaming with restrained anticipation as he watched the door.

With all eyes on him, Yu Yuan strolled in with an air of nonchalance.

"From quite a distance, I heard my name being called out, with intentions of subjecting my soul and consciousness to a Yin God's scrutiny." He wandered in, his gaze sweeping over Su Kui, Su Kui, and Van Xuan.

Finally, his eyes settled on Lim Mu, and with a smile, he asked, "Is it you?"

With a sinister grin, Lim Mu replied, "Yes, it's me, haha, indeed it's me! I've been searching for you for some time. Your timing couldn't be better!"

"Apologies for the delay; I was held up at the Huang family. Otherwise, I would have arrived sooner." Yu Yuan offered a smile, bowed respectfully to Yu Cann across the crowd, and then added earnestly, "Grandfather, there's no need to worry about me."

What else could Yu Cann do but offer a wry smile in response?

"The Huang family!" Su Xiangtian exclaimed, a flicker of surprise crossing his features. He murmured, "What business did you have at the Huang family? Did you encounter Su Yin, Van Chaoguan, and Lim Hanyu there?"

Hearing this, Su Kui and the others couldn't help but frown in concern.

If Yu Yuan had indeed visited the Huang family and faced Su Yin, Van Chaoguan, and seen the captured Lee Yuchan and Lee Yu, how was he able to come here afterward?

Those three were promising juniors they were counting on, certainly not the forgiving type. How could they possibly tolerate Yu Yuan's presence?

Shouldn't they have detained him along with Lee Yuchan and the others at the Huang family, then sent word for Lim Mu to come and probe Yu Yuan's consciousness with the Yin God?

"I've seen them all," Yu Yuan said with a slight nod, before adding, "As for Su Yin, he's defecated on the Yu family's head more than once. And when I showed up at the Huang family's place, he couldn't resist attacking me."

"My apologies," he said to Su Xiangtian, a hint of regret in his voice. "I lost control and ended up killing Su Yin."

Su Kui and Su Kang were at a loss for words, their faces a mix of amusement and disbelief.

They didn't buy a word of what Yu Yuan was saying.

Su Xiangtian inhaled deeply, scrutinizing Yu Yuan for a few seconds, then asked in a grave tone, "You're the one who did it?"

Yu Yuan confirmed with a nod.

"The youth are to be feared," Su Xiangtian remarked admiringly. "Still, Su Yin was one of our own in the Su family. We cannot simply overlook his death."

"Xiangtian, you're taking his word for it?" Su Kang burst out, his voice tinged with incredulity. "Su Yin's talents may not have been exceptional, but he was at the Profound Break Stage. This young man is merely at the Yellow Court Stage. How could he have killed Su Yin?"

"If he says he killed him, then he did," Su Xiangtian declared, his expression stern and utterly devoid of humor. "Senior Lim, Yu Yuan is right here before you. If you wish to take action, please, feel free to make the first move."

"You really are terrible," Yuan Lianyao chided, giving him a disapproving glance.

Su Xiangtian, seizing the crucial moment, was prompting Lim Mu to strike first, knowing full well that Yu Yuan wouldn't have dared to enter unless he had something up his sleeve.

If Lim Mu were to act, he was bound to come out worse for wear.

"Xiangtian! You can't possibly believe him!" Su Kang exclaimed in desperation.

Su Xiangtian stepped back and extended his hand, gently pulling Su Kang and Su Kui behind him, clearing the area between Yu Yuan and Lim Mu.

His actions made it abundantly clear that he was giving Lim Mu carte blanche to proceed.
