C396 Different Devil Spell

The gaunt man hailed from the Hu family of the Kingdom of Rewia; his name was Hu Tianyang.

Yu Yuan was somewhat acquainted with the Hu family's members, yet he held no particular fondness for them.

During his time in the Jade Peak Mountains, he encountered Hu Hann, Hu Yue, and other Hu family members. Regrettably, under Lau Zaihe's spell, they ignored his warnings and charged headlong into Chilly Wind Valley.

They ultimately perished there, reduced to mere skeletons.

The Hu family's expertise in artifact refinement granted them a lofty status within the Kingdom of Rewia, earning them great respect.

Despite being a Hu family member skilled in artifact crafting, Hu Tianyang showed little interest in the practice. Blessed with innate talent from a young age, he was handpicked by an envoy of the Devil Palace to learn the authentic Devil Spell, setting him on the path of cultivation.

Hu Tianyang, predestined for the Devil Palace, grew up with a sense of entitlement.

In the Kingdom of Rewia, few could draw his attention.

When Yu Yuan bluntly remarked, "You sure talk a lot," Hu Tianyang was momentarily taken aback, wondering if he'd heard correctly.

"I'm calling you out."

Sheh Si, also from the Kingdom of Rewia, giggled mischievously and added fuel to the fire, "Hu Tianyang, if you didn't catch that, let me spell it out for you. This man from the Yu family of Darkmoon City says you're a chatterbox. He finds you tiresome. Got it now?"

The Shi family ranked among the most dominant in the Kingdom of Rewia.

Sheh Si was a scion of this powerful clan, the sole female and the youngest of the trio.

She appeared underdeveloped and petite, her figure small and delicate, clad in attire adorned with shining silver armor plates at the chest, dantian, and other critical points.

With her small hands and feet, and sweet demeanor, Sheh Si resembled the girl next door.

Yet, her ample chest was incongruous with her slight frame, a striking contrast.

Her cultivation level, in the Middle Period of the Profound Break Stage, was on par with Hu Tianyang's. Her youth hinted at even greater potential, promising her a significant place of honor upon entering the Devil Palace.

"You think I'm full of hot air?" Hu Tianyang finally caught on, a smirk playing at the corner of his mouth as he rolled up his sleeves and struck a pose. "Alright, let's see what gives you the right to say I'm all talk!"

As he crouched slightly, the spiritual energy around him grew dense and plummeted with his movement, creating a whirlwind on the deck of the Silver Rainbow Magic Shuttle. A deep, dark halo spilled from beneath Hu Tianyang's arms, unfurling outward like sinister black wings.

Devil Palace disciples were accustomed to settling disagreements with immediate action, and the sect's tacit approval meant conflicts were often resolved through combat. The rule was simple: the weak obey the strong.

Yu Yuan was considered by Hu Tianyang to be a fellow disciple, yet as someone only at the Yellow Court Stage, he was expected to show the proper respect. By calling out Hu Tianyang's bluster, Yu Yuan was challenging a superior, but according to Devil Palace customs, it was acceptable for Hu Tianyang to respond with a lesson in combat.

"Devil Spiritual Wings!" Yan Lu approached, standing shoulder to shoulder with Yu Yuan, his grin wide and mocking. "Hu Tianyang, you're a whole realm above him in the Profound Break Stage. Have you no shame?"

"Shameless, indeed," Hu Tianyang retorted with a snort. "But for him, with such a feeble level of cultivation, to accuse me of blathering on! Yan Lu, I'm aware you're both from the Devil Moon Empire. I know you're close and you look out for him, but you'd do well to teach him our sect's rules!"

Realizing that Yu Yuan was also seen as a disciple of the Devil Palace, Hu Tianyang acknowledged that Yu Yuan's lower cultivation level meant he might not be well-versed in the sect's many protocols. With Yan Lu stepping in, he eased off his aggressive stance.

"We're all in the same boat, seeking peaceful cultivation. Your endless prattle is grating," Yan Lu said, massaging his left ear before stepping up to face Hu Tianyang. "Maybe you should teach me how to understand the rules as well?"

Streams of fine Spiritual Energy and Qi burst forth from Yan Lu's fingertips, igniting into tendrils of devil flame.

The devil flame glowed a pale purple, exuding an aura that was at once mysterious, shadowy, and intensely fiery.

"Purple Flame Devil Fire!"

Sheh Si couldn't contain her exclamation as she stood and approached Yan Lu.

Her gaze was fixed on the flames erupting from Yan Lu's fingers, and she marveled, "I never expected you to master the Purple Flame Devil Fire so soon after advancing to the Middle Period of the Profound Break Stage. It's no wonder you felt bold enough to confront Hu Tianyang, even at the same level of cultivation."

Wu Pei, the quietest among the three, also opened his eyes wide in astonishment.

The Wu family, a minor name in the Kingdom of Rewia, paled in comparison to the Yu family of Darkmoon City.

Yet, thanks to Wu Pei, the Wu family had gained renown throughout the kingdom.

On the cusp of reaching the Penetrating Stage, Wu Pei had already sought profound cultivation at the Devil Palace upon entering the Profound Break Stage.

Having recently returned to the Kingdom of Rewia from the Devil Palace due to family affairs, Wu Pei was now aboard the Silver Rainbow Magic Shuttle, venturing to the Ember Waters to seek his fortune.

Wu Pei was among the younger generation on the shuttle who had truly experienced cultivation within the Devil Palace.

"Purple Flame Devil Fire..."

Watching the flames spew from Yan Lu's fingertips and feeling the entwined aura, Wu Pei too was taken aback.

Both "Demon Spiritual Wings" and "Purple Flame Devil Fire" were Low Rank Spiritual Spells from the Devil Palace, yet one was of the Fifth Rank and the other of the Eighth.

In the vast expanse of the Boundless Land, cultivation techniques and Spiritual Spells were categorized into Low, Middle, and High Ranks, each with nine sub-levels, clearly delineating the potency and grade of the spells.

The more advanced the rank of the Spiritual Spell, the more challenging it was to cultivate, and naturally, the greater the power it wielded.

Higher-ranked Spiritual Spells often came with numerous restrictions, such as the cultivator's innate talent, current realm, availability of suitable pills or tools for assistance, and their aptitude for understanding, among other considerations.

The Purple Flame Demonic Fire outclasses the Demonic Spiritual Wings by three minor levels, signifying not only a more challenging cultivation process but also a significantly greater potency.

Yan Lu had progressed to the middle phase of the Profound Break Stage more swiftly than Hu Tianyang had managed in the early phase. And yet, Yan Lu had successfully mastered the Purple Flame Demonic Fire! Given they were both at the same stage, if Yan Lu's physical conditioning was comparable to Hu Tianyang's, the formidable power of the Purple Flame Demonic Fire would undoubtedly make him the stronger of the two.

"Purple Flame Demonic Fire!" Hu Tianyang couldn't hide his astonishment upon witnessing the wisps of pale purple flame emanating from Yan Lu's fingertips. With a twist of his mouth, he conceded internally, knowing he was outmatched. He grumbled under his breath, "Of course, the Yan family has deeper roots than ours, especially now that they reign over the Devil Moon Empire." His implication was clear: Yan Lu's success was buoyed by his family's substantial resources.

Despite his words, Hu Tianyang stepped back, effectively yielding. "You and Yu Yuan, being fellow disciples of the Devil Palace, that's one thing," he brooded, his resentment simmering. His gaze shifted to Su Yan, who was watching the exchange with an amused smile, and his irritation grew. "What business does a disciple of the Taiyuan Sect have in the Ember Waters, and aboard our Silver Rainbow Magic Shuttle at that?"

Hu Tianyang felt innately superior to Su Yan. In his view, the Hu family stood above the Su family, and as a Devil Palace disciple, he considered himself above a member of the Taiyuan Sect, merely one of the seven lesser sects of the Heavenly Source Continent. Su Yan, in his eyes, simply didn't measure up.

Though he deemed Yu Yuan weak, Hu Tianyang still regarded him as a fellow sect member, one of their own. With Yan Lu's intervention, he refrained from further provocation. Yet Su Yan's mocking look only served to inflame his temper further.

"Su Yan..." Yan Lu glanced over with a nonchalant smile, showing no inclination to step into the fray.

Hu Tianyang, a scion of the Hu family, was a rising star within the Kingdom of Rewia. Known for his prowess, he was a formidable presence in the Hantian realm. Yu Yuan, a member of the Hu family's rival, the Yu family, was equally renowned in the Chilly Wind Valley. Hu Yue, Hu Tianyang's sister, was a force to be reckoned with in her own right, her name echoing through the halls of the Devil Palace.

Hu Hann, another member of the Hu family, had ventured deep into the Jade Peak mountain range, where he encountered Lau Zaihe, a river that whispered secrets of ancient times. The Devil Spell, a powerful incantation, was said to originate from the depths of the Devil Palace, and Sheh Si, a master of the dark arts, was rumored to be its guardian.

Darkmoon was a city shrouded in mystery, its shadows stretching far and wide. The Yu family, long-standing adversaries of the Hu family, had their roots deeply embedded in this enigmatic place. As practitioners of the Profound Break Stage, they were formidable opponents, their power resonating through the Profound Break realm.

The Devil Shuttle, a mystical artifact, was the pride of the Devil Moon Empire. Its counterpart, the Silver Rainbow Magic Shuttle, was a marvel to behold, its brilliance unmatched in the Yellow Court Stage. Yan Lu, a prominent figure in the empire, had mastered the Penetrating Stage, his skills honed to perfection in the Late Period of his training.

The Ember Waters, a sea of stars and ash, was home to creatures of various ranks, from the lowly Fifth Rank to the mighty Eighth Rank. The Spiritual Spell, a technique of varying degrees, was practiced by many, its potency ranging from Low Rank to High Rank.

The Boundless Land was a realm of endless possibilities, its vastness a canvas for the ambitious. Pills, the essence of life and power, were coveted by many, especially those in the Early Period of their cultivation journey. The Yan family, renowned for their expertise in alchemy, was a dominant force in this land.

The Taiyuan Sect, a lower sect compared to others on the Heavenly Source Continent, was nonetheless a beacon of hope for many. Su Yan, a member of the Su family, was a testament to the sect's potential, her talents recognized across the Heavenly Source Continent.
