C447 Faction
The Fallen Star Eyes abruptly halted in mid-flight.
Liu Ying, previously languid due to the Abyssal Leviathan's takeover, suddenly shifted her demeanor.
Kong Banbi, Du Huang, Su Yan, and others gazed ahead with peculiar looks on their faces.
Light fragmented like shattered glass, scattering across the sea's surface!
Lu Baichan of the Ebon Star stood with the fragmented Nebula Gem atop her head, as colorful clouds ceaselessly infused into the gem.
Yet, the gem continued to break apart, and nothing could halt its destruction.
Blood seeped from Lu Baichan's submerged garments, tinting the surrounding waters crimson.
"Whoosh!"
A cadaver from the Ebon Star, once adrift in the sea, was abruptly yanked backward by an unseen force.
A gleaming silver Flying Shuttle zipped through.
The Ebon Star trial-taker's body, once pierced by the Flying Shuttle, saw its vital energy, spiritual sense, and residual soul vanish in an instant.
The silver Flying Shuttle, gleaming like polished bone, carried with it the acrid scent of blood as it darted about like lightning.
"Boom!"
Tang Cen of the Sunlit Order was encircled by orbs of light under assault from an array of flasks and jars.
At the ocean's depths, Tang Cen stood like a Flame Deity, with deep red flames within him that not even the sea could quench.
His body glowed a fiery red as he faced the combined onslaught of Hou Tianzhao and Chi Yin with a fierce glare.
Hou Tianzhao, with a grimace, brandished a sparkling fan so large it required both hands to wave.
The fan, with a white base and bones of red refined iron, was adorned with painted rivers of flowing lava.
Each time the portly Hou Tianzhao fanned, the lava rivers seemed to bubble and churn with increasing fervor.
Meanwhile, the large orbs of light surrounding Tang Cen appeared to diminish in their fiery glow.
As Hou Tianzhao manipulated the fan, the flames from the orbs seemed to be drawn into it, merging with the painted lava rivers.
Chi Yin of the Taintborn chuckled softly, her numerous flasks and jars jingling melodically.
A multitude of vessels launched from her person, striking Tang Cen's surrounding orbs of light like a barrage of uneven stones.
Colorful smoke and dust burst forth from an array of bottles and jars, scattering across the seafloor like a constellation of tiny, twinkling stars.
Tang Cen's spiritual sense, however, grew sluggish and failed to extend outward. Whenever he released his spiritual sense, which he had melded with his spiritual energy, it would painfully collide with the luminous dust, causing him to grimace and let out a piercing scream.
Under the joint efforts of Hou Tianzhao and Chi Yin, this prodigy of the Sunlit Order was visibly struggling.
Meanwhile, a young man from the Devil Palace, merely in the late Veil Breaking period, stood nonchalantly with his hands clasped behind his back. He watched with a grin as the Nebula Gem and Lu Baichan were under siege.
He wielded a massive Devil Blade with serrated edges, heavy as a mountain, and guided it to cleave through the Nebula Gem. Each strike caused the Nebula Gem to burst into a shower of light, fragmenting under the force.
Lu Baichan, focusing all her energy on controlling the Nebula Gem, had no strength left to contend with the youth.
Qi Nandou, manipulating the Bone-Devouring Shuttle, relentlessly harvested life. The Cloudwater Sect disciples who had accepted Lu Baichan's invitation to leave the Fallen Star Eyes and enter the Nebula Gem were nearly wiped out.
Only Luo Yiyi, their leader, managed to hold her ground against the relentless assault of Lin Yue from the Colddeath. Every so often, a streak of blood-red light, sharp as a rapier, would pierce through Luo Yiyi's back, waist, and legs. The bloody light left her once beautiful form withered and hollow, her vital energy seemingly drained, rendering her appearance grotesque.
Luo Yiyi's movements were hampered by her unbalanced body, and she struggled to navigate the ocean depths. Had she not been a member of the Cloudwater Sect, with vast reserves of spiritual energy in the sea to command through her spells, forming protective light shields time and again, she would have perished long ago.
Lin Yue was in no rush, leisurely flaying her flesh as he waited. It seemed he was biding his time, allowing the others to perish before finally dispatching Luo Yiyi.
"Nebula Gem!"
A member of the Sword Sect couldn't contain himself and let out a piercing scream.
Su Yan mumbled under her breath and swallowed hard, her lips suddenly feeling parched. "Why? Why has this conflict erupted?"
Du Huang from the Forgeroses grew silent, his expression somber.
"It's not just a fight; it's a massacre," Liu Ying corrected, inhaling sharply as she observed the corpses floating at the sea's bottom, pierced by the Bone-Devouring Shuttle. "The combined strength of the Land of Quiescence is overwhelmingly more powerful than the other forces."
"I don't understand!" exclaimed Su Yan.
The Ebon Star, Sunlit Order, and Cloudwater Sect are all cultivators from the Euwrea Continent. Their slaughter signifies what exactly?
Could we possibly be the next targets?
"The Bone-Devouring Shuttle requires vital energy and residual souls to be activated, releasing its full ferocity," Kong Banbi interjected. "When combined with the Ethereal Vial, its power could penetrate the Azure Veil. However, the Nebula Gem of the Ebon Star specializes in defense, aiding Lu Baichan in accumulating spiritual energy for her cultivation."
The Sword Sect and the Skyblight Cult had a history of warfare. Kong Banbi, an avid reader in the Ancient Scroll Pavilion, had come across records of the Bone-Devouring Shuttle, which is why he understood its intricacies.
Du Huang drew a deep breath and suddenly asked, "What should we do?"
He turned to Kong Banbi for guidance.
The Sword Sect, like the Ebon Star and Sunlit Order, was one of the three great upper sects. The Forgeroses, Starmoon Sect, and Su Yan's Abyssal Dawn were among the seven lower sects.
They were supposed to be united against a common enemy, standing shoulder to shoulder in battle.
Now, the Devil Palace, led by a young man, had initiated hostilities, targeting the Ebon Star, Sunlit Order, Cloudwater Sect, and Winter's Bite.
Qi Nandou and his associates were reckless in their pursuit of power for the Bone-Devouring Shuttle.
Could we be the next ones to fall?
Even if not for Lu Baichan's sake, we must consider our own survival.
"You're the wielder of the Fallen Star Eyes. What's your take on this?" Kong Banbi was in turmoil, unable to make a snap decision. He turned to Liu Ying for guidance.
Liu Ying was frantic. "I've lost control over the Fallen Star Eyes!"
Suddenly, all eyes were on the Abyssal Leviathan.
The Abyssal Leviathan hovered motionless, simply observing the combatants.
Near the Ethereal Vial, Yan Lu of the Devil Palace made urgent eye contact with Liu Ying and Su Yan, signaling them to quickly take the Fallen Star Eyes and escape.
Liu Ying caught his gaze but felt powerless. She explained, "If I were to leave recklessly with the Fallen Star Eyes, the Ethereal Vial wouldn't stand a chance of keeping up."
"Senior?" Du Huang of the Forgeroses stood before the Abyssal Leviathan. "As a venerable member of the evilkind, shouldn't you intervene to stop their reckless actions?"
The Abyssal Leviathan remained unmoved.
"Mo Yan?" Qi Nandou of the Skyblight Cult reached out with his spiritual sense to the Devil Palace youth, "Now that the Fallen Star Eyes have arrived, should we make our move?"
Mo Yan, who was managing the Devil Blade while keeping an eye on the Fallen Star Eyes, hesitated before shaking his head. "Let's not provoke them."
"What about that odd fish?" inquired Qi Nandou.
Mo Yan nodded, "As long as it's with the Fallen Star Eyes, we'd better not stir trouble."
"Got it," Qi Nandou replied, understanding the situation.
Inside the Fallen Star Eyes, the Abyssal Leviathan, which had been fixated on what lay ahead, suddenly lit up its two differently colored eyes.
To the surprise of the onlookers, the peculiar fish abruptly turned, directing its gaze to the rear.
"Yu Yuan!"
Liu Ying's excitement surged as she spun around, mirroring the Abyssal Leviathan's action, and looked behind her.
Her connection to the Fallen Star Eyes remained intact. Although she couldn't control the artifact's flight, she could still sense through it.
She was intimately familiar with Yu Yuan's presence.
"Ah!"
After a brief gasp, Liu Ying couldn't contain her excitement, "Veil Breaking! Yu Yuan has made a breakthrough and directly entered the Veil Breaking Realm!"
Su Yan, who had also arrived on the Silver Rainbow Shuttle, gaped in disbelief upon hearing what Liu Ying had said.
Kong Banbi murmured under his breath, "That quickly?"
