C461 The Good Tradition

The cage woven from sword light was under constant assault by the Abyssal Leviathan within the sea.

Its body, encased in scales as tough as divine iron, erupted with boundless power, emitting beams of grayish-brown light from its withered and desiccated form.

The totem-poles shone with bewitching brilliance as the furious roars of ancient archdemons thundered forth.

The Abyssal Leviathan, confined within the sword light cage, released a burst of power that was earth-shattering.

Whether driven by fury or sensing the imminent arrival of the Blood Altar and preparing for a last stand, it was clear that its madness was escalating.

Yet, the Fallen Star Eyes were slowly receding into the distance.

Inside the cage, the Abyssal Leviathan's eyes—one a fiery red, the other a luminous white—shone like lanterns, casting a fierce and wild glow as it fixed its gaze on Yu Yuan through the water.

Yu Yuan's face remained as tranquil as a still pond, showing not a trace of fear.

He continued to hold Liu Ying's hand, the two standing shoulder to shoulder. He was strikingly handsome and carefree, while she resembled a celestial goddess, creating a serene and perfect picture.

Holding the sword sheath, he casually pointed at the Abyssal Leviathan and said with a light-hearted chuckle, "This being from beyond the stars has a pair of eyes that are quite mystical and wondrous. One eye is like a sun in blazing fury, the other as if it has captured the essence of the moon. Heh, I'm quite tempted to pluck out those eyes and toy with them in the palm of my hand."

"Palm... palm..."

Liu Ying's Heart Lake was subtly disturbed as she suddenly became aware of the many eyes fixed upon them.

Du Huang and Kong Banbi wore peculiar looks, seemingly lost in contemplation.

Su Yan of the Abyssal Dawn had a shadowed gaze, deep and inscrutable, hinting at concealed thoughts.

"I'm alright now."

Liu Ying gently pulled away her hand, which Yu Yuan had been holding firmly, and spoke with a hint of bashfulness, "That's enough, you don't need to channel your spiritual energy to tend to my wounds any longer."

"Healing wounds?" Du Huang's expression shifted.

"Yu Yuan, can the sword light hold him?" Kong Banbi was more concerned about the group's safety, "What exactly is the essence of this elder from beyond our world?"

It appeared to be a cosmic giant beast. In an era when our people had yet to discover the spells for cultivation, and the evilkind and Nagas ruled the vast Everlands, he shattered the cosmic wall and arrived from beyond. Alas, after being captured alive by a host of archdemons, he was sealed beneath the sea.

Yu Yuan released Liu Ying's small hand with a smile and nonchalantly said, "He is known as the Abyssal Leviathan. You can get an idea of his former strength by looking at the ancient totem-poles of the evilkind. The sword light... it can hold him, but not indefinitely."

The unease and fear persisted among those within the Fallen Star Eyes.

As Yu Yuan finished speaking, the anxiety among them intensified.

The sword light was insufficient to contain him, the Blood Altar was drawing near, and there was the transformed evil spirit, now a Sky Fiend. It was a mystery how Yu Yuan could still manage a smile.

Swoosh!

The Fallen Star Eyes swiftly moved past the erratic "evil spirit."

The Crucible of Evil, which floated within Yu Yuan's chest and moved with him, suddenly stirred as if eager to break free and unite with the "evil spirit."

He snorted, and strands of vitality, like ropes and chains, entwined the Crucible of Evil.

With the Evil Body Refining technique activated, the refined vitality hidden within Yu Yuan's veins and bones also exerted a pull on the Crucible of Evil, preventing it from escaping.

The "evil spirit" on the seabed coalesced into a luminous blue figure, moving towards the Crucible of Evil.

A formation of white Bone Spears, woven with the power of lost souls and vitality, suddenly unleashed its force.

Arc light flashed like lightning, the wailing of souls and the psionic power struck the "evil spirit" in an instant.

The blue figure, beneath the sea, was penetrated by the white arc light. The psionic abilities absorbed by the Bone-Devouring Shuttle halted its skyward surge.

The instinct-driven evil spirit had not anticipated the presence of the Skyblight Cult's Bone-Devouring Shuttle within the Ethereal Vial.

This artifact could restrain it, preventing its escape.

Otherwise, if it managed to break the Ethereal Vial and enter, the Evil Devils and Prodigies of the Land of Quiescence would face devastating losses, their lives nearly consumed by it.

"The Fallen Star Eyes are approaching."

Fei Yi of the Devil Palace silently approached Mo Yan from behind and gave him a heads-up.

"I'm not blind," Mo Yan responded coolly, gripping the Shadowblade. He peered at Yu Yuan with furrowed brows through the shimmering light of the Ethereal Vial.

After Yu Yuan's departure, the Abyssal Leviathan remained trapped in the sea by the sword light cage.

Lin Yue, Hou Tianzhao, Qi Nandou, and the others now realized that the emaciated elder ensnared by the net of sword light was the very Abyssal Leviathan Mo Yan had spoken of—the peculiar fish that had aroused everyone's suspicions.

The strands of sword light that had detached from Yu Yuan's scabbard were powerful enough to prevent the Abyssal Leviathan from breaking free, indirectly validating Mo Yan's claim—he might not be able to best Yu Yuan.

The formidable nature of that scabbard was now fully apparent to them; they recognized its exceptional qualities.

"Did Hei Xun tell you everything?"

Mo Yan huffed, addressing Yu Yuan across the water, "The ferocity of the Abyssal Leviathan is well known to us both, and the Blood Altar is drawing near. What are your intentions now?"

"What are your intentions?" Yu Yuan inquired.

At that moment, only a few yards separated the Ethereal Vial and the Fallen Star Eyes. Thanks to the spells cast by Qi Nandou and Liu Ying, the voices of both parties could be heard by each other.

They were poised to collaborate.

In the Everlands, when sects from the Land of Quiescence and the Land of Heavenly Origin encountered extraterrestrial entities, they would set aside past grievances and band together against common threats.

This noble tradition had been handed down through the ages.

Now, within the confines of this world, rather than beyond the Star River, the younger generation—those not yet at the level of the Solar Spirit—were upholding this venerable tradition in the face of the sudden emergence of the Abyssal Leviathan, the Tears of the Azurefiend, and the bizarre evil spirit.

"The sword light cage, linked to your Sword Sect, will continue to contain the Abyssal Leviathan," Mo Yan declared, having already made his decision. "We, on the other hand, will hasten to the fringes of the Azure Veil and employ the Fallen Star Eyes, the Ethereal Vial, and the Bone-Devouring Shuttle in our attempts to penetrate the sealing barrier."

"Once the barrier appears, we'll swiftly make our way across."

"By then, the Abyssal Leviathan might have broken free from the sword light cage, but we'll already be out of danger."

Everyone pondered Mo Yan's suggestion in silence, finding it highly plausible.

"As long as you're confident in the sword light cage, we can proceed—and we must act quickly!" Mo Yan caressed the Shadowblade, his expression grave. "It's approaching rapidly. It won't be long before it's upon us."

Liu Ying asked softly, "Yu Yuan, what are your thoughts?"

"Mo Yan, I don't think your proposal is very practical," Yu Yuan replied, glancing toward the Blood Altar. "That thing is speeding up. If it's after us, the Fallen Star Eyes and the Ethereal Vial might not outpace it. If we truly want to escape, my advice is to split up."

"Split up?" Lin Yue exclaimed in a hushed tone.

"Yes, split up and let it pick its target. If it goes for the Fallen Star Eyes, I wish you the best of luck," Yu Yuan said with a shrug. "If it chooses the Ethereal Vial, our chances of survival increase significantly."

His implication was clear: whoever the Blood Altar targeted, the others might have a chance to live.

Mo Yan, reading his expression, knew he was speaking off the cuff and said with impatience, "Enough, then. What's your brilliant idea?"

"The cage won't hold him for long," Yu Yuan said, his demeanor turning serious as he ceased his jesting. He nodded in greeting to Yan Lu, Hou Tianzhao, Lin Yue, and the others before continuing, "There's no need to rush. We should stay put and watch how things unfold. It could be quite entertaining to witness a battle between two titans."

"Two titans?" Mo Yan paused for a moment before catching on. "And why do you assume that upon the Blood Altar's arrival, it will inevitably clash with the Abyssal Leviathan?"

"That's my hunch," Yu Yuan admitted, spreading his hands openly. "I'm willing to gamble on my prediction."

"And if you're wrong?" Mo Yan asked sternly.

"If we lose, we're all dead, and no one will make it out alive," Yu Yuan said, taking a deep breath. "From what I can tell, if we're the target of the Blood Altar, trying to escape might be futile. Moreover, if we manage to break through the Azure Veil and it doesn't heal on its own, the Abyssal Leviathan could take the opportunity to escape once it's free."

"Lord Hei Xun, you should have warned him about the immense disaster that would follow his release!"

Yu Yuan offered his assessment.

Everyone inside the Ethereal Vial instinctively turned their gaze to Mo Yan.

"Just wait and see."
