C573 The Severely Injured Amethyst Dragon
No one had anticipated Lee Yuchan's sudden aggression.
Whoosh!
The female general soared into the sky like a mighty roc. Behind her head, a bizarre spider web materialized, visible only to those of equal prowess.
Swoosh!
Tiny flames sparked within the ethereal web that had emerged behind her.
All the cultivators present, whether from the Qiao family or the Dragon Attendants of Dragon Lake, looked on with alarm.
Any cultivator who had reached the Lunar Spirit Realm and had refined their Soul Power could acutely feel their own Soul Power being ensnared by the web, as if being drawn into its depths.
Within the web, clusters of phantoms blazed intensely.
Qiao Xu, momentarily dumbstruck, pointed at the phantoms, "These, these are the souls!"
Yu Yuan was equally taken aback.
The phantoms before them were the same ones that had been lured by the bell sounds of the floating carriage in the forest not long ago, but had retreated in fear due to the presence of the Crucible of Evil.
According to the Crucible of Evil, these phantoms originated from the Land of Terror, seemingly summoned and dispersed throughout the woods.
The phantoms should have been entranced by the bell, each entering the floating carriage to fortify the Dragon Soul.
Yet now, those very phantoms that were meant to be collected by the mysterious woman in the carriage were igniting within the peculiar web at the back of Lee Yuchan's head.
"Shadow Curse!"
Faang Chun, a Dragon Attendant, cried out in a chilling tone.
"Shadow Curse!"
At the utterance of these words, the remaining Dragon Attendants and the Qiao family members were struck dumb.
Only Tan Yuan and three other brightly dressed women appeared to have foreknowledge of Lee Yuchan's spell and remained composed.
"Don't be reckless!" Tan Yuan shouted, urging her to keep her cool and not to act hastily.
But the resolute female general was undeterred. As she hovered over the floating carriage, she plummeted down.
The ignited phantoms wailed and sobbed, emitting piercing screams audible only to the Lunar Spirit. They followed Lee Yuchan's lead, rushing towards the carriage with an overwhelming and breathtaking ferocity.
Qiao Xu, Faang Chun, and the other Dragon Attendants were too late to intervene.
*Roar!*
A ferocious dragon's roar erupted from the hovering sedan chair.
A miniature dragon burst forth from the top of the chair, rapidly growing in size. In a mere moment, it transformed into a creature tens of yards long, its body shrouded in dark green and brown mists. Its scales were shattered, revealing deep wounds where bone was visible, and its flesh was rotting, oozing a visible, persistent poison.
This was a dragon that had suffered grievously, its body ravaged by toxins for an indeterminate time.
Despite its injuries, the dragon inhaled sharply, drawing in the surrounding souls like a whale gulping water, all of which disappeared into its maw bristling with sharp fangs.
Its deep purple eyes, usually dim, now flickered with a faint light.
With an icy, merciless gaze, the dragon fixed its purple eyes on Lee Yuchan and exhaled a breath of energy.
A beam of purple light, as vast as the ocean, surged towards her.
Boom!
The force of the dragon's breath sent Lee Yuchan soaring once again, the dense purple crystals within binding her.
"Enough!" Tan Yuan exclaimed, her frown suggesting the scene before her was somewhat unseemly.
With a distant clap of her hand, a palm formed from concentrated vitality, as if to blot out the sun, shattered the purple crystal light encasing Lee Yuchan, freeing her instantly.
Tan Yuan's expression turned icy as she addressed the wounded Amethyst Dragon, its body exuding a deadly aura, "If you wish to heal and survive, you'd best behave."
The Amethyst Dragon, its head held high and body draped below, gazed down at Tan Yuan with its radiant purple vertical pupil.
"She struck first!" it declared, before swiftly contracting its form and retreating back into the sedan chair.
"Amethyst Dragon," Yu Yuan mused, stroking his chin as he watched the gravely injured dragon obediently return. He whispered to himself, contemplating the creature's innate splendor.
Unmarred, the Amethyst Dragon's body would shimmer like purple jade, a sight of true beauty. Among the Nagas, it was renowned for its elegance and prestige, far surpassing the Silverfrost Dragon that had once graced the Forgotten Ruins.
Yu Yuan quickly realized that the Amethyst Dragon must be of the seventh level!
Seventh-level evilkind and Spirit Walk cultivators were forbidden from entering the Godsblight Marsh.
For any who dared enter, it meant certain death!
So how could this Amethyst Dragon do it?
Moreover, Tan Yuan, who had come to Lee Yuchan's aid with a single palm strike, was certainly not of the Lunar Spirit realm. She had to be at least at the level of Spirit Walk.
And when she unleashed that palm strike, the overwhelming and robust sense of her vitality felt eerily familiar to Yu Yuan.
Upon reflection, a realization struck Yu Yuan: the Forgeroses!
The spell Tan Yuan practiced also originated from the Forgeroses. Though it wasn't the "Ancient Echoes of the Void," it was still a formidable body-refining technique that fused spiritual energy with vitality, capable of releasing tremendous power.
The Forgeroses were renowned across the Euwrea Continent for their body-refining prowess!
Shen Feiqing might appear fragile and dainty, but the strength she displayed with a mere gesture in the Forgotten Ruins was on par with a Devil Dao cultivator who had rigorously trained their body, or even with an archdemon of the same level!
Tan Yuan was another exceptional individual, like Shen Feiqing, who practiced the domineering body arts of the Forgeroses.
"Shen Feiqing, concealed within the Godsblight Marsh, and Tan Yuan, another formidable practitioner from the Forgeroses. Rumor has it that Shen Feiqing's mentor, after losing the struggle for the sect leadership against the current master of the Forgeroses, left in a rage for the Extraterrestrial Star River."
"He never returned, and it's said that he has since passed away."
"Subsequently, Shen Feiqing faced ostracism within the Forgeroses, becoming a target for persecution, which ultimately led to her defection from the sect."
"And now..."
The Forgeroses were once at the forefront of the seven lower sects, surpassing even today's Ethereal Void Sect in strength. They were on the verge of joining the ranks of the three upper sects, poised to challenge for a position among the elite.
However, the sect's decline was both rapid and mysterious.
Rumors suggest that the Ethereal Void Sect played a disgraceful role in accelerating the downfall of the Forgeroses.
"Could there be another group from the Forgeroses who, after losing the battle for leadership, fled to the Godsblight Marsh?" Yu Yuan's mind brimmed with questions, fueling his anticipation for the journey to the Godsblight Marsh.
"Faang Chun, let Lee Qi go," the mysterious woman with the soft voice inside the hovering sedan chair suddenly said.
Faang Chun's brow furrowed. "He has overheard quite a bit."
"It's of no consequence," the woman in the sedan reassured with a light chuckle. "General Lee has been bold enough to use the Shadow Curse in the Godsblight Marsh without restraint. What have we to fear? Those who practice the Shadow Curse are shunned by the sects of both the Land of Quiescence and Euwrea. Once they reveal themselves, they risk being hunted down."
"If we're all on the same path, and with the Silvermoon Queen's actions causing such outrage, what is there to fear?"
"The Lee family won't interfere with us. In fact, they'll likely become our allies."
As she spoke, Lee Yuchan descended from the sky and came to a halt beside Tan Yuan.
"Come over here," Lee Yuchan beckoned to Yu Yuan once more.
Yu Yuan, with a smile, looked at Faang Chun and asked, "Will you let me pass?"
With a face turned ashen, Faang Chun dropped the arm that had been blocking the way and turned his back, refusing to look at Yu Yuan's smug expression.
"I will repay your kindness," Yu Yuan said brightly, stepping past him.
Upon reaching Lee Yuchan's side, Tan Yuan, the elegant woman who practiced the Forgeroses' spiritual spell, squinted her eyes and gave Yu Yuan a penetrating look. She then turned to Lee Yuchan and remarked, "This young man from your Lee family has even greater potential than Lee Yu! Moreover, he's exceptionally suited for our lineage's spiritual spell!"
Tan Yuan had taken a liking to Yu Yuan's potential.
This left Lee Yuchan somewhat astonished. After a brief pause, he replied, "We can discuss this matter later."
"Ladies and gentlemen, please follow me," Tan Yuan said, nodding toward the small sedan chair and addressing Qiao Xu, Faang Chun, and the others before taking the lead.
"Don't stray too far from me," Lee Yuchan grumbled.
Yu Yuan responded with a smile, "Understood."
