C650 The Giant Beast Soared into the Sky

In the expanse of the Desolate Swamp, a sudden exclamation erupted from the Golden Elephant Ancient God of the Demon Palace: "Not good!"

All eyes converged on a patch of sky to the north of the swamp. There, thirty-six totem pillars of the Demon Race soared upwards, like a series of towering mountains taking flight.

Arranged in a pattern that echoed the profound laws of nature, the thirty-six totem pillars unleashed a ferocious energy that threatened to eclipse the sun itself. "The Ancient Fey Formation!"

Tang Zheng of the Primordial Yang Sect watched the totem pillars ascend and immediately realized that the Chaos Roc, long suppressed in the oceanic depths of the Ember Waters, was likely to depart the Great Swamp.

And sure enough, the Starry Behemoth revealed its true form—an immense, bizarre fish whose radiant scales shone with a mesmerizing divine light under the moon's glow.

The Chaos Roc, in its monstrous fish guise, had eyes that blazed—one as red and intense as the sun, the other as white and cold as the moon.

Surrounded by the dissipating Ancient Fey Formation, the Chaos Roc burst forth from the Great Swamp, its sun-like eyes fixed on Tang Zheng.

Tang Zheng was about to speak when he felt the refined rivers of flame within him spiral out of control. His body, tempered by the Divine Sunfire and embodying the essence of the Yang God, now showed signs of chaotic fire laws under the Chaos Roc's fiery gaze.

"Don't even think about escaping!"

Ji Ningshuang's Starfrost Sword extended, unleashing a sword light that rivaled the Outland Star River, streaking towards the Chaos Roc.

Simultaneously, the Golden Elephant Ancient God, an Unrestrained Stage cultivator from the Profound Sky Sect, and a hidden powerhouse from the Devil Palace, all bore down on the Chaos Roc with immense force.

With a thunderous roar, the Ancient Fey Formation, composed of the thirty-six totem pillars, quaked violently, warping space and carving out a direct passage to the Outland Star River.

The Chaos Roc let out a chilling laugh as its fish-like form vanished in a flash through the passage.

The totem pillars, following the behemoth's disappearance, shrank to the size of needles and slipped away through the channel.

Powerless, the cultivators from the upper sects, the Devil Palace, and the Demon Palace could only watch as the Starry Behemoth slipped away from the vast expanse of the Boundless Land.

"I'll send word to the senior brothers outside; have them pursue the Chaos Roc."

Ji Ningshuang's spirit consciousness conveyed the strange occurrences within the Desolate Swamp to her fellow Sword Sect disciples stationed beyond the heavens. She was aware, however, that in these critical times, without a Primordial Spirit Stage cultivator or a Tenth Level Demon God intervening, the Starry Behemoth would finally achieve true freedom upon bursting into the Outland Star River.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

At the heart of the Desolate Swamp, the previously concentrated Spiritual Qi of Heaven and Earth unfurled like a vast, white carpet, spreading its nourishment far and wide.

Simultaneously, every cultivator at the Seventh Level felt the Desolate God's summons echoing within their Demon Spirits. The Great Demons of the Seventh, Eighth, and Ninth Levels, regardless of their location, received the message: they could now return to the Great Swamp, their wanderings no longer necessary.

The Desolate God made his stance clear: with the Great Swamp restored, his Great Demons had the option to return immediately or at their leisure. The prohibition that barred Seventh Level Great Demons and Soul Wandering Stage experts from the swamp was now null and void.

...

At the Blue Sky Shrine, Xie Binn, having pulverized the remnants of the Yang God Fragments within the Ice Thunder Mark, focused on amassing Heavenly Soul. He watched as his own fragment of Heavenly Soul was incrementally restored to wholeness.

Through him, Yu Yuan gained insights into the enigmatic aspects of the "Life Altar," learning that merely possessing Giant Beast Amber did not guarantee the creation of such an altar. The Starry Behemoth responsible for the Giant Beast Amber had the ability to subtly manipulate it, prearranging its vital Qi and blood essence.

A memory struck Yu Yuan: Mo Yan of the Devil Palace had once confronted him in the Crack Archipelago, threatening to expose his identity in exchange for the Giant Beast Amber. Despite Mo Yan's impressive origins, his talent was rather unremarkable.

Could Mo Yan have been aware of the unique properties of the Giant Beast Amber, crafted from the vital essence of the Chaos Roc?

Inside the Evil Cauldron, Mo Yan had observed him refine the Yellow Court's acupoints over and over, reaching the Eighth Refinement. It was clear that Mo Yan's knowledge of the Ember Waters, the Evil Cauldron, and the Chaos Roc far surpassed his own.

Perhaps he had always known that the Chaos Roc had singled him out, orchestrating events from the shadows. The Giant Beast Amber was meant to prepare him for a future possession.

"Phew!"

The final fragment of the Yang God melded with Xie Binn's Heavenly Soul. The Ice Thunder Mark was now devoid of lightning, and Xie Binn's residual Yang God had vanished.

Xie Binn's breaths came fast as he fixated on the Evil Cauldron's opening, unblinking.

"Go."

With a subtle intention from Yu Yuan, the Evil Cauldron drifted to hover over Xie Binn's crown, and the cluster of Heavenly Soul, originating from Xie Binn, descended gently.

It settled into Xie Binn's Niwan Palace, then integrated with his core soul. Xie Binn's shoulders shook as his eyes slowly closed.

Yu Yuan sat in contemplation, his mind still on the Starry Behemoth, the Life Altar, and the revelations shared by Xie Binn.

According to Xie Binn, as the cosmos evolved, the earliest-born colossal Starry Behemoths struggled to adapt to the transformed universe, seeking a path to transcendence.

Many alien races from the Outland Star River shared a lineage with the Starry Behemoths. Those with a Life Altar were of the purest bloodlines, the altar coalescing naturally within them.

Those endowed with a Life Altar were immensely fortunate, possessing numerous inexplicable advantages, as Xie Binn had described.

The Chaos Roc had intended to forge him, to cultivate within a human form using his own flesh and blood. Thus, through intricate planning, it had led him to the Giant Beast Amber and the creation of his own Life Altar.

All of it was orchestrated so that, in time, the Chaos Roc could usurp his body, allowing it to traverse the cosmos in human guise.

Piecing together Lim Zhuyun's findings from the Crack Archipelago and the recent emergence of the Chaos Roc, Yu Yuan began to trust in Xie Binn's conjectures as the stark truth.

Being marked by a Starry Behemoth for possession weighed heavily on Yu Yuan.

He was acutely aware of the Chaos Roc's formidable nature, and its rapidly regenerating power.

The Chaos Roc alone was already unimaginably powerful. If it could regain seventy to eighty percent of its peak strength, it would be uncontrollable without the presence of a Primordial Spirit.

"I hope the Chaos Roc is subdued again soon," Yu Yuan murmured to himself.

"Tap! Tap! Tap!"

A gentle knocking at the door suddenly interrupted the silence.

Xie Binn roused himself from the deep state of soul fusion, asking with surprise, "What's going on?"

"It's likely someone from the Chen family," Yu Yuan replied, rising to his feet and gesturing for Xie Binn to stay calm. "Though I've hidden my identity and have been practicing at the Blue Sky Shrine, it's something I can keep from others, but not from the Chen family of the Luan Bird Empire."

"You're involved with the Chen family?" Xie Binn exclaimed.

"At the moment, it's unclear whether they're friends or foes." Yu Yuan answered nonchalantly, then walked over to the door. After a brief pause, he swung it open to reveal Chen Langzhi, who greeted him with a smile.

Without waiting for an invitation, Chen Langzhi stepped inside, unsurprised to see Xie Binn and nodded in acknowledgment.

Yu Yuan, with a sense of resignation, closed the door behind them. "Elder Chen, what brings you here?"

"The 'Heaven Sealing Soul Transformation Formation' in the Fallen Moon Forbidden Area has failed, unleashing a host of malevolent beings and Heavenly Devils," Chen Langzhi explained calmly. "Fenng Pu from the Primordial Yang Sect, along with members of the Thunder Sect and the Cold Yin Sect, are currently clashing with them just outside the forbidden zone."

"Will this spill over to Darkmoon City?" Yu Yuan inquired.

"Not at the moment," Chen Langzhi replied, shaking his head. "Meanwhile, in the Desolate Swamp, the Chaos Roc—a Starry Behemoth—confronted four Unrestrained Stage cultivators and the Golden Elephant Ancient God. It unleashed the Ancient Fey Formation, revealing its true form before charging into the Outland Star River."

At this news, Yu Yuan's tension eased. "So, they've truly gone?"

"They've left for now, but whether they'll return is uncertain," Chen Langzhi spoke with measured calm. "The cosmic barriers of the Boundless Land aren't as impenetrable as they once were."

"Did you come all this way just to share these updates with me?" Yu Yuan asked, his curiosity piqued.

"Additionally, you're free to head to the Crimson Desert now," Chen Langzhi said with a shrug. "Given that the sealing array in the Fallen Moon Forbidden Area has been breached, Feng Pu has no reason to seek you out anymore."

"Thanks for the heads-up."
