C653 A Sneak Attack Across the Sea of Stars!!
Liu Ying was known for her laziness.
As the cries for help from the Cloudwater Sect cultivators reached her ears, she casually nibbled on fruit while using a mere sliver of her consciousness to lower the Fallen Star Eyes just a bit.
Beneath the cloak of night, the Fallen Star Eyes resembled a dazzling meteor, trailing a luminous tail.
Three specters weaving through the Cloudwater Sect members recoiled into the earth as they sensed the oppressive force emanating from the heavenly-grade artifact.
"Liu Ying!"
A female cultivator from the Cloudwater Sect waved frantically and called out, "Could you give us a lift? We've attracted the attention of some Terra Fiends and are trying to regroup with the Ethereal Void Sect."
"My own sect is facing a crisis; I don't have the leisure to escort you," Liu Ying replied with a furrowed brow, before guiding the Fallen Star Eyes to ascend.
"We from the Starmoon Sect have no ties with the Cloudwater Sect."
Catching Yu Yuan's gaze, she offered a coy smile and explained, "The mission to cleanse the Scarlet Dunes of evil is a joint effort led by the five supreme sects. But truthfully, I'm not acquainted with anyone from the Cloudwater Sect."
"You seem to be the one with the most free time in the Scarlet Dunes," Yu Yuan remarked with a chuckle.
At the heart of the silver meteorite, an array of crystal mirrors stood erect, reflecting the various battles and skirmishes across the Scarlet Dunes.
From her vantage point, Liu Ying could oversee the entire expanse of the desert.
The Starmoon Sect had tasked her with vigilance; should any of their members face a mortal peril, she was to intervene without delay.
Her involvement with other sects, however, was left to her discretion.
With the Fallen Star Eyes at her command, she navigated the terrain with ease, her safety assured.
The might of the Fallen Star Eyes was evident; the malevolent beings of the Scarlet Dunes, including the Terra Fiends and the hybrids, were largely defenseless against it.
The Starmoon Sect placed their trust and confidence in her.
Her master had forewarned her of potential upheavals in the latter stages of the Scarlet Dunes and advised her to stay alert.
Should an earth-shattering event occur, she was to relay the news back to the Starmoon Sect via the Fallen Star Eyes immediately.
She didn't need to join the battle to dispel evil here; her role was simply to be the "eyes."
"Do you know?" Liu Ying asked, waving her hand gently. A veil of moonlight and stars enveloped them both. "Before you arrived, I heard a call from the Moonfall Sanctuary urging me to action. During your absence, while I meditated three times, I witnessed the battles there through the Fallen Star Eyes."
"That voice, it tempted me, nearly compelling me to head to the Moonfall Sanctuary."
"I've been waiting for you. I believed that once you arrived, the summons from the Moonfall Sanctuary would cease."
"Allow me to try."
The Fallen Star Eyes abruptly halted.
Liu Ying settled down slowly, setting aside the plates, offering him a soft smile, and then she closed her eyes.
In the instant her eyes shut, Yu Yuan perceived the Fallen Star Eyes beneath them transforming into a powerful magnet, drawing in the light of the stars.
The stars, once dimmed by the poor weather, now shone much brighter in the night sky.
Yu Yuan could distinctly feel the threads of starlight, drawn by the heavenly artifact, traveling from the distant extraterrestrial realms along the Star River.
Liu Ying entered a deep meditative state, intentionally sensing for any calls from the Moonfall Sanctuary.
She was determined to confirm her suspicions.
"Fallen Star Eyes..."
Yu Yuan endeavored to project his spiritual sense into the crystal mirrors before him, curious if he could observe the happenings at the Moonfall Sanctuary through the Fallen Star Eyes.
He wondered if he could glimpse other parts of the Scarlet Dunes by sheer will.
Suddenly, a spectral figure slipped through one of the crystals and into his Mindscape, jolting him.
There, on a silver-white meteor floating in the sky of the Moonfall Sanctuary, sat a person he knew all too well—his fiancée, Lin Zhuyun.
The cold moon, bestowed by the Abyssal Leviathan, had once more been set into the eye of the cosmic giant beast, aiding its journey into the Star River.
Lin Zhuyun, meant to be in the Godsblight Marsh, had somehow made her way to the Moonfall Sanctuary by unknown means.
She sat atop a Moon Shard that had been cleaved from the Star River and now floated in space.
Moonlight streamed into her body from the floating Moon Shard.
In a short while, the Moon Shard, spanning about ten acres, burst apart with a resounding crack.
Lin Zhuyun abruptly shifted her position to another Moon Shard, suspended high in the sky. She had absorbed a significant amount of Moon Essence from the fragments and continued to gather the hidden moon energy within them in her own unique way.
Simultaneously, in the Moonfall Sanctuary, above another Moon Shard, a familiar figure appeared to Yu Yuan—none other than the Silvermoon Queen, Lee Yupan! To Yu Yuan's astonishment, it was the true presence of the empress who once ruled the Silvermoon Empire.
Her body, previously detained by the Devil Palace and Shadow's Keep, was now present in the Moonfall Sanctuary. With the Lunar Spirit rightfully restored and her three souls intact, she was vying with Lin Zhuyun for the floating Moon Shards. The two seemed to have an unspoken agreement to leave each other to their own devices.
Then, another figure caught Yu Yuan's eye: Yan Qiling, a master of space magic. Yan Qiling, who had not been expelled to the Godsblight Marsh with him and was a native of the Moonfall Sanctuary, had returned. He was now hovering near the spatial gateway that connected to the extraterrestrial realms, seemingly engrossed in deciphering some enigmatic mystique through the space channel.
Upon seeing him, an unexpected thought sprang to Yu Yuan's mind: Could it be that Yan Qiling, with the assistance of the Untamed, had employed his space magic to transport Lin Zhuyun to the forbidden area?
"Master..." The voice of the cauldron spirit suddenly resonated within Yu Yuan's Heart Lake.
Yu Yuan, who had been deeply engrossed in the Mindscape of the Bright Crystal Stone, felt his consciousness rush back to his Mindscape. Jerked back to awareness, he quickly regained his senses and reconnected with the real world.
"A powerful Terra Fiend is lurking deep underground and has reached out to you," the cauldron spirit informed him, now that Yu Yuan was alert.
Yu Yuan, momentarily taken aback, questioned, "Terra Fiend? What kind of Terra Fiend could be so formidable? You reside within my Zigong acupoint; how could a mere Terra Fiend detect you?"
"It knows," the cauldron spirit declared.
At that very moment, Yu Yuan felt a chill that seemed to pierce his soul. It emanated from a once-dim star deep within the night sky. Instinctively, he looked up.
The once faint star burst into brilliance, its light reaching across the vastness of Endless Space to fix a cold gaze upon Yu Yuan.
"Abyssal Leviathan!"
Yu Yuan's complexion drained of color, and without a second thought, he darted away from the Fallen Star Eyes.
A beam of icy moonlight, like a frigid bolt of lightning, suddenly cleaved through the starry sky's barrier, hurtling straight for him.
"Rise!"
The Crucible of Evil surged from the Zigong acupoint, expanding a hundredfold to shield him within.
The cauldron's glyphs squirmed, their dark light mingling with the cold moonlight cascading from above. The sky around Yu Yuan abruptly flared, as bright as broad daylight.
"The Crucible of Evil! Is that the Crucible of Evil?"
"The God of Plagues, Yu Yuan!"
Shouts of astonishment echoed across many regions of the Scarlet Dunes, drawn by the light of both the Fallen Star Eyes and the Crucible of Evil.
Within the cauldron's secluded little world, Yu Yuan bellowed, "The Abyssal Leviathan can actually see the Fallen Star Eyes from the extraterrestrial Star River! And to think it can dispatch a beam of cold moonlight across the cosmos to reach us here! Are the upper sects, the Devil Palace, and Shadow's Keep all blind?"
The Abyssal Leviathan was indeed relentless. Just when Yu Yuan believed he was safe, it sought him out in such a manner.
"You just used this device to observe Lin Zhuyun in the forbidden area. That girl must share a psychic link with the Abyssal Leviathan," the cauldron spirit telepathically conveyed. "It's also possible that Lin Zhuyun knew you were watching her and, feigning ignorance, covertly signaled the Abyssal Leviathan."
The chilling extraterrestrial assault vanished as quickly as it had appeared.
Yu Yuan waited, and after the cauldron spirit assured him it was safe, he stepped out from the little world within the cauldron with a stern expression.
No sooner had he emerged from the Crucible of Evil than a nearly imperceptible remnant soul sprang forth, racing toward his Mindscape.
"Someone's set a trap!" the cauldron spirit exclaimed in alarm. It attempted to retreat to Yu Yuan's Zigong acupoint, and the cauldron, previously diminished, rapidly swelled in an effort to envelop Yu Yuan once more.
Regrettably, it was a step behind.
