C779 The White Bone Became the King!

Whoosh! Whoosh!

A silvery halo of psionic power surged into White Bone's skeletal form, which was riddled with numerous cracks.

The cracks in the bones vanished as if polished away.

White Bone's injuries healed almost instantly as the power from the halo permeated his body.

Moreover, the aura emanating from White Bone and the light in his eyes both intensified rapidly.

Jiang Xingwen's face turned ashen as she quickly removed the River of Souls from her waist. Her eyes wide with shock, she exclaimed, "You, you're actually Dhoreus?!"

"Dhoreus!"

The soul fragments of the five great Ghost Kings reacted with shock, their gaze fixated on the belt.

Razses, the Ghost King, was particularly struck. His expression, when he looked at the belt, was a complex mix of shock, excitement, delight, and a touch of resignation.

"Jiang Xingwen, the loyalty of the ghosts to you isn't solely because of the River of Souls," White Bone said calmly, his power growing as his dark green eyes shone with a steady light. "It's because of Dhoreus."

A bitter expression crossed Jiang Xingwen's face.

From the moment the artifact soul of the River of Souls acknowledged its identity, she had suspected that the powerful ghosts and spirits flocking to her were not solely drawn by her own strength.

The legendary Dhoreus possessed a magnetic pull over the spirits.

From his birth, the numerous ghosts and souls of the Land of Terror, stronger than he, had acknowledged his power and pledged their allegiance early on.

As the supreme Ghost King who once ruled the entire Land of Terror, Dhoreus indeed wielded such might.

Dhoreus was a born ruler, favored since his emergence by the Root of the Lunar Meridian.

"Lord Dhoreus!"

Razses, adorned in a dragon robe and imperial crown, hesitated before placing a hand over his heart. With a bow and a humble demeanor, he addressed the River of Souls, "I had not dared to hope that you were still among the living."

"Razses, you've done well. When you were with me, you were merely at the Spirit Level, weren't you?" Dhoreus's raspy voice echoed again, "To be remembered by me is a testament to your merit."

He reigned supreme over the Land of Terror, commanding hundreds of thousands of ghosts. If he could remember a single ghost, it meant that Razses was truly remarkable back then.

Upon hearing this, both Rahu and Jiang Xingwen's faces showed a change in color.

Razses, the current Ghost King, had once been a subordinate to Dhoreus in a bygone era!

Taruer, Black Staff, and Thoaos, the three Ghost Kings of Wintermaw, were evidently privy to this fact and showed no great surprise.

"It is an honor to be remembered by you, my lord. You are correct; I was merely at the Spirit Level at that time. It was only after you traversed the Star River that I managed to ascend to the rank of Celestial Shade," Razses, the Ghost King, clarified. He glanced at White Bone and, with a furrowed brow, asked, "My lord, your dominion over the Land of Terror was so lengthy that the Ghost Kings from your era have been succeeded several times over. Who is this former comrade of yours?"

The gazes of the peak soul spirits quickly focused on White Bone.

"His name is Youling. You do not recognize him because he had already reincarnated by the time you came into being," Dhoreus's voice emanated from the River of Souls. "He chose differently than I did. Knowing that the role of Ghost King had reached its zenith in the Land of Terror, he decisively sought rebirth and began anew in human form."

"I ventured with the River of Souls into the extraterrestrial Star River, fully aware that I could never achieve the status of God of Ghosts in the Land of Terror."

"Our paths diverged, yet our goals aligned; we both aspired to become the most formidable presence in this realm and across the vast expanse of the Star River."

The belt gently drifted from Jiang Xingwen's grasp and hovered midair.

Dhoreus's form remained unseen. Perhaps the belt named River of Souls had become his new embodiment. He appeared to be locked in a silent communion with White Bone.

"Shade King..."

The soul spirits present murmured softly.

"Isn't he supposed to be inside?" Thoaos interjected, unable to contain his curiosity, "After Youling's reincarnation, shouldn't his body be in repose there?"

As an ancient Ghost King, Thoaos was familiar with Youling's legend. Observing the faint silver glow, he surmised that Yu Yuan, having shattered the Crucible of Evil, had stepped into another dimension, likely Youling's final sanctuary.

Since Youling was inside, how could it be White Bone?

"White Bone is Youling," Dhoreus snorted. "Even I was deceived. After Youling's reincarnation, he became another person carrying his memories. In the Everlands, who Youling turned into, I do not know. Nor do I know to what heights he ascended after his rebirth."

"But he has returned, and his intentions are clear."

Dhoreus did not rush to act but merely observed the Shadow Moon Essence within the faint glow. The purest Yin Qi flowed into White Bone's skeletal form.

Soon after, the sound of water echoed from the crevice behind White Bone.

Rahu's face turned pale, "The River Styx!"

Jiang Xingwen exclaimed, "White Bone has claimed his throne!"

"He was already at the level of a Ghost King. To reach this state again, he only needed a fraction of the Land of Terror's karmic fortune and the power he lacked," Razses mused. "Should we address him as White Bone King or Shade King?"

"In this life, I am White Bone."

White Bone spoke with detachment, glancing at the crevice behind him, listening to the River Styx's flow, seemingly savoring it. "This river has been dry for many years, and now it surges with Shadow Water once more. To witness the same landscape anew offers a different sensation."

"Isn't that right, Dhoreus?"

He gazed at the floating belt.

"Master, you..." Razses began tentatively.

Jiang Xingwen and several other Ghost Kings harbored endless doubts, all turning their gaze to the belt that continued to emit sounds, eager to understand Dhoreus's current state and form.

"You've always known that the boy you're protecting could restrain me," Dhoreus uttered coldly. "I was unaware that you were Youling, but you've always known I resided within this belt. Youling, your memories have never faded; you've kept every detail of this world at heart."

The revelation sent a chill through the Ghost Kings.

White Bone had not lost his memories. Upon arriving at the Land of Terror, he knew his identity, and he knew the body he had concealed in the stone crevice was once a Ghost King. Having cultivated in human form for a lifetime, he re-entered the Land of Terror as a soul and now reclaimed his title as Ghost King.

The sight of such skeletal remains and the presence of Youling filled them with terror.

Among them, Rahu felt the eeriest sensation...

Did the White Bone before her, once the Shade King, know that she had ascended to the rank of Ghost King when he challenged her? Was he aware of what failure would entail?

If White Bone's pursuit of necromancy was to battle fearlessly, to be worthy of the title of king, what would happen if he were defeated and truly annihilated by her? Would that be the end of him?

Her true name was Luo Yue, the former leader of the Poison Cult. Could he possibly know that as well?

Given White Bone's wisdom, tactics, and strength, coupled with his retained memories, he was bound to be a figure of renown in the Everlands!

If she could lead the Poison Cult, then surely White Bone, in human form, would not be of lesser stature, right?

So, who exactly was White Bone in the outside world?

A torrent of questions flooded Rahu's mind, and she suddenly realized that the White Bone before her was enshrouded in infinite mystery, impenetrable no matter how hard she tried.

"Dhoreus, you are no match for me now," White Bone said with icy resolve. "I earnestly advise you to reincarnate as a human and attempt to reach the primordial spirit, just as I once did. As for the God of Ghosts that has never been seen in the Land of Terror, abandon such lofty aspirations."

"Because I have returned."
