C789 I Have the Wrong Person
"What is this?"
Many human cultivators, as well as the ghosts from the Land of Terror, were dumbfounded when the Frost Queen made her appearance.
With her snow-white complexion and an air of cold, haughty beauty, the Frost Queen's upper body was a vision of perfection. Her well-defined breasts and the elegant curve of her back, combined with her unapproachable and majestic visage, made her resemble the legendary Ice Goddess from the extraterrestrial Star River.
Her lower half, reminiscent of a scorpion, exuded a bewitching allure.
Particularly striking was her scorpion tail trailing on the ground, its protruding spines glistening with a metallic, icy light that hinted at extreme danger.
Anyone who witnessed the Frost Queen materialize from nowhere, feeling the chill she exuded and experiencing her enigmatic charm, would find their spirit quivering.
At first glance, the Frost Queen seemed like a deity crafted from ice and snow.
Yet upon seeing her demonic lower half, one couldn't help but sense that she was bristling with spikes.
"So beautiful!"
Within the majestic palace, numerous cultivators from the Euwrea Continent couldn't help but whisper in awe.
They were utterly mesmerized, perceiving the Frost Queen, who had appeared so suddenly, as the most exquisite piece of ice sculpture artistry.
Clusters of ice-blue flames began to rise from the scorpion part of the Frost Queen's lower body. These flames, seemingly born from within her, released a scent that many recognized as that of the Frozen Hellscape.
For many, the haunting beauty of the ice-blue flames only deepened their fascination with the Frost Queen's power, their spirits swaying in her presence.
Thoaos, the Ghost King, gazed upon the Frost Queen below with an itch of longing and desire.
White Bone was momentarily taken aback. He turned his head to see the Crucible of Evil that had appeared out of nowhere, and from within it, the Frost Queen emerged. He inwardly chastised Yu Yiyi, "What are you up to?"
Before he had emerged, he had instructed Yu Yiyi and Yuan Lianyao to stay hidden below and focus on condensing the abundant Yin Qi.
He had assured them that he would handle everything on the outside.
But Yu Yiyi had not heeded his advice. Not only had she brought out the Crucible of Evil, but she had also released the Frost Queen. What was she stirring up?
In the little world within the cauldron, Yu Yiyi wore an expression of helplessness as she explained, "This was not my intention."
The Frost Queen had been startled by the unique aura emanating from Thoaos. Before she could issue any command, she instinctively stepped out of the cauldron.
Now, the Frost Queen had made her presence known, boldly locking gazes with Thoaos from a distance, refusing to show any sign of weakness.
Yu Yiyi could sense the Frost Queen's eagerness to engage in battle with Thoaos.
"It's too late to take it back now. I hope... it can still be rectified," Yu Yiyi sighed, shaking her head within the cauldron. "Stop this foolishness. With your current abilities and rank, you're not equipped to contend with any Ghost King. Only when you've ascended at least one more level will you stand a slim chance."
Thoaos, in his Ice Titan form, had a smooth, peculiar face, as if two pieces of cold stone were set into it.
"Hmm? No, something's not right!"
A look of surprise and doubt flickered in the depths of his stone-like eyes.
"The aura is identical, and the appearance is strikingly similar, yet..."
Thoaos scrutinized the Frost Queen, who had emerged from the Crucible of Evil, and after a careful examination, he declared, "No, she's not the same being!"
"It's not her," Cao Jiaze interjected suddenly from within the grand palace. "The one you're familiar with is not the same as her. She descended from the extraterrestrial realm alongside her, but upon arrival, she was pursued by powerful foes and fled into the depths of the Frozen Hellscape."
"She, on the other hand, was seized by the Devil Palace and imprisoned at the bottom of the Embers Sea."
Cao Jiaze succinctly unveiled the mystery.
Mo Yan, wielding the Shadowblade, activated his Lunar Spirit and stealthily emerged from the blade, "Lord Thoaos, you seem to have mistaken her identity. The one you seek, I have encountered at the bottom of the Embers Sea. She possessed a woman named Lin Zhuyun and now traverses the Everlands in her form."
"Lin Zhuyun!"
Behind Cao Jiaze stood the cultivators of Winter's Bite, their expressions chilling.
This woman, handpicked by the Chief Elder and taken into the sect for training, had now become the ultimate disgrace of Winter's Bite.
In the Embers Sea, there were whispers that Lin Zhuyun, overtaken by a Sky Fiend, had unleashed a massacre on the Winter's Bite's island.
"Lin Zhuyun?" Thoaos pondered the unfamiliar name, his gaze distant. "Is she the one possessed by the Sky Fiend I seek to destroy?"
"You heard correctly. The Frostfiend who possessed Lin Zhuyun is the same one who caused your demise in the Frozen Hellscape," Cao Jiaze confirmed.
Upon hearing this, a myriad of icy soul lights burst forth from Thoaos's rigid, icy form.
All present—every ghost and soul—could sense his overwhelming rage.
They also learned a grim truth: Thoaos had been slain by a Star-Spawned Terror lurking within the Frozen Hellscape. Only a faint residual soul remained, which, afflicted by Ice Venom, managed to flee to the Land of Terror.
After enduring many hardships, Thoaos, now the Ghost King, had stealthily retrieved the ice tombstone to the Land of Terror, securing his current status.
He had erroneously believed the Frost Queen of the Crucible of Evil to be the Frostfiend responsible for his death.
In the Land of Terror, wielding the might of the Ghost King, he was confident he could vanquish the Frostfiend. Hence, he devised a scheme to entice the Frost Queen away from the Crucible of Evil.
But he discovered she was not the one.
Thoaos was filled with vexation and growing agitation.
Only he knew the risks he took as he advanced to Ghost King, covertly entering the Frozen Hellscape to dislodge the ice tombstone, all the while evading the Frostfiend.
He was aware that the Ghost King's power would plummet outside the Land of Terror.
Facing the Frostfiend on its home turf in the Frozen Hellscape, he admitted to himself that victory was unlikely.
So, after removing the ice tombstone, he swiftly retreated to the Land of Terror.
Each time he recalled his reluctance to confront his foe in the Frozen Hellscape, despite ascending to Ghost King, he felt a deep sense of humiliation.
Finally, he was in his own domain, facing off against that person. Wasn't this the moment he had been anticipating for years?
Yet, it wasn't the same person!
Thoaos was so enraged he was nearly driven mad!
"Although it's not the same individual, they belong to the same species. They have traversed the Everlands together," Cao Jiaze clarified. "Thoaos, these two are sisters. You can't reach the elder sister at the moment, but this younger sister, who has undergone transformation, could be even more beneficial to you than her sibling."
"Sisters?" Thoaos was suddenly reinvigorated by the thought.
Indeed, when Frost Queen was first summoned by Yu Yuan to battle in the Land of Terror, Thoaos had taken notice of her.
Part of the Arctic Breath emanating from Frost Queen's body originated from the Celestial Ice Crystal, while another part seemed to come from a frigid region in the extraterrestrial realms.
This ice energy was incredibly alluring to him, aiding in his breakthrough in necromancy.
"If you seize this chance to ascend as a God of Ghosts, the Frostfiend who has taken over Lin Zhuyun, no matter where she hides, will not escape your grasp," Cao Jiaze stated in a measured tone, laying out the facts. "Once a God of Ghosts, you will eradicate all those who have harmed or attempted to kill you."
"Indeed!"
Thoaos was instantly buoyed by the prospect.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
His colossal ice form advanced toward Frost Queen, and a fearsome ice tempest sprang up around him.
The myriad powerful ghosts that served him swarmed into the tempest like swallows returning to their nests.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The fierce cold wind howling through the Ossuary was drawn into the ice tempest, condensing into countless shimmering ice crystals.
Within each crystal, a phantom of Thoaos emerged. The tempest continued to amass ice energy, emitting the dreadful presence of the Frozen Hellscape.
Rip!
The fabric of space itself seemed to buckle under the strain of the ice tempest, as if on the verge of tearing apart.
White Bone stood at the entrance to the depths below, acutely aware that the fundamental laws of his domain and even the Way of Heaven from the Land of Terror were being altered by the tempest's influence at that very moment.
The environment was perfectly attuned for Thoaos, the Ghost King of Wintermaw, to wield his power in the most enigmatic reaches of the Everlands.
"To refine a Celestial Ice Crystal that has endured for ten thousand years, forging such an extraordinary physique, do you really aspire to turn the world on its head?" Within the depths of White Bone's emerald gaze, a chilling light flickered menacingly, "Wintermaw, you're thinking too simplistically."
White Bone levitated into the sky.
His skeletal form radiated white flames, imbued with the hallowed might to purify the world of malevolent spirits and corruption.
Once ignited, White Bone transformed into a deity on a divine quest to obliterate the Land of Terror!
His presence, every gesture, and the gleam of his green eyes had the power to extinguish all ghosts and souls!
The weaker onlookers, merely by gazing into White Bone's eyes, found themselves inexplicably ablaze.
"Ah! Ahhh!"
"White Bone! White Bone is the true aberration that must be expunged from the Land of Terror!"
"The Sacred Writ of the Skeleton he practices may well have been conceived for the sole purpose of annihilating the Land of Terror!"
"White Bone, White Bone, he should never have existed in this world!"
The impacted ghosts and spirits scattered like frightened birds, no longer daring to meet White Bone's gaze. Deep within their spirits, they harbored both fear and resentment towards him.
To those ghosts and spirits, White Bone was the most nefarious deity, intent on reducing the Land of Terror to cinders.
