C793 Cross the Calamity Thunder!

The voice of Razses, the Ghost King, echoed like an ethereal blast from the deepest pits of hell, reverberating through the souls of both humans and ghosts, leaving them utterly shaken.

Would condensing a Lunar Spirit subject one to the constraints of the Way of Heaven and a baptism by calamity thunder?

Behind Cao Jiaze, the Lunar Spirit experts from Euwrea appeared dazed, exchanging bewildered and astonished glances.

They had all attained the Lunar Spirit Realm, with many even reaching the Spirit Walk Realm.

Yet, which of them had ever faced the Way of Heaven's restrictions or the cleansing of calamity thunder?

Not just these cultivators who followed the natural order, but even those from the Land of Quiescence, like members of the Devil Palace, Ruby Hand, and Colddeath, seldom faced suppression by the Way of Heaven when forming their Lunar Spirits.

Ancient tales spoke of human cultivators ascending to the heavens and, upon breaking through a significant realm, facing the slim chance of enduring the so-called 'Heavenly Tribulation.' But these stories remained largely as myths; in modern times, such events were virtually unwitnessed.

The Way of Heaven is indifferent, showing no favor or malice toward those who tread the path of righteousness or wickedness.

Haven't we seen countless evildoers who prey on children and lay waste to cities still smoothly transition into the Lunar Spirit Realm, even reaching the Unbound Realm?

Throughout the River of Time, every cultivator from the Devil Palace who achieved a primordial spirit bore hands stained with blood.

Had their ascent ever been stifled by the celestial Way of Heaven?

The news that Yu Yuan faced the ordeal of calamity thunder upon becoming a Lunar Spirit left cultivators from all regions dumbfounded, their hearts filled with disbelief.

"In other parts of the Everlands, such events are probably unheard of. And if they do occur, they are exceedingly rare," Cao Jiaze said, taking a deep breath. "But here, in the Land of Terror, where the Yin Qi is at its most potent and concentrated, especially at this critical juncture!"

"You all know that never before has the Yin Qi of the Land of Terror been as pure and rich as it is now!"

"At this extraordinary moment, Yu Yuan has forged his Lunar Spirit, and thus, he faces the Way of Heaven's suppression!"

Upon hearing those words, a spark of realization lit up in many eyes.

Chu Yao of the Order of Healing paused briefly before saying, "This challenge seems quite formidable, doesn't it?"

Cao Jiaze's eyes settled on Ann Ziqing's stunning phantom, still reeling from the shock. "She likely never anticipated that the Glacial Storm Seal she wrested from Xie Bin would become the deadly blade to sever Yu Yuan's Lunar Spirit at such a critical time."

Chu Yao couldn't help but chuckle, "What we encounter is often the will of the heavens."

"I, I..."

Ann Ziqing, usually so articulate and seldom bested in verbal sparring, found herself at a loss for words, hovering in midair, clad in her purple divine armor.

The diminutive Glacial Storm Seal was not only intercepting fragments of the Celestial Ice Crystal but also unleashing soul-destroying bolts of lightning.

Streams of lightning surged into the gaping hole.

She was overwhelmed, unsure of whom to turn to for an explanation.

At that moment, White Bone had merged with Thoaos's icy form, and the cauldron spirit within the Crucible of Evil offered no guidance.

And the Frost Queen? She was merely a Bane.

To whom could she plead her case?

The sudden turn of events had drawn the attention of the ghosts above and below, away from the clash between White Bone and Wintermaw, to focus on the yawning chasm.

Thanks to the enlightenment provided by Razses, the Ghost King, everyone came to understand the truth—Yu Yuan was not lurking in the Crucible of Evil but was instead cultivating in seclusion beneath the earth, having just condensed his Lunar Spirit.

"Will he, will he succeed?" Ann Ziqing reached out to the Ghost King through her mystique, her brows furrowed with concern. "What will become of him?"

"He will either survive the calamity thunder and earn the favor of the Land of Terror, becoming a cherished being of this realm, or his soul will disperse, leaving no hope for existence," Razses, the Ghost King, declared the outcomes with an indifferent tone.

It was a matter of life or death.

Ann Ziqing's mind was adrift in uncertainty.

High above, Rahu shone with the refined brilliance of a rainbow, while Razses dwelled in the depths below. The Black Staff loomed within a vast expanse of dark clouds, and Taruer stood upon an unremarkable peak of Shadow Mountain...

The focus of the four Ghost Kings had momentarily shifted from the battle between White Bone and Wintermaw to the trajectory of the lightning.

The Ghost King finally understood the gravity of enduring the calamity thunder in the Land of Terror.

Yu Yuan, having condensed his Lunar Spirit, triggered the Way of Heaven's balance, which unleashed a myriad of lightning bolts from the Glacial Storm Seal, all converging on him. This event halted the flow of the River Styx, and the Yin Qi emanating from the Root of the Lunar Meridian ceased to infuse Shadow Mountain. This spectacle drew more attention than the clash between White Bone and Wintermaw!

Even the four great Ghost Kings had only heard of such events.

Yet, they had never witnessed it firsthand!

"Hu!"

In an abrupt shift, the Frost Queen ceased her collection of the Celestial Ice Crystal shards and returned to the Crucible of Evil!

The Crucible of Evil, once settled on the ground, soared up and plunged into the gaping chasm leading underground, offering its protection.

The Crucible of Evil's movements alerted all the Observers and ghosts to the severity of the situation.

The question remained: could the Crucible of Evil, a Horcrux and thus vulnerable to the berserk lightning within the Glacial Storm Seal, withstand such an onslaught without being reduced to dust?

The Observers were skeptical of the Crucible of Evil's protective actions.

Within the shimmering silver halo, Yuan Lianyao, who had been refining pure Yin Qi with her Lunar Spirit, snapped to alertness.

"What's happening?"

She watched in horror as bolts of lightning, thick as arms and shimmering in hues of green and silver, snaked through the silver halo like flood dragons and pythons, unimpeded as they penetrated the stone crevices into Yu Yuan's little world.

"Didn't White Bone say that even the Ghost King would struggle to enter?"

Her phantom quivered with concern for Yu Yuan's safety and with fear.

The soul-destroying lightning ignored her, but the mere aura it emitted as it passed her Lunar Spirit instilled a terrifying premonition that any contact would obliterate her soul.

"How can Yu Yuan withstand such formidable lightning?"

Yuan Lianyao internally screamed, desperate to return to the little world, regardless of the risks.

Regrettably, as she prepared to act, she saw a cluster of icy lightning envelop the stone crack leading inward, a force potent enough to effortlessly erase her sliver of Lunar Spirit.

She could only gaze at the stone crevice, heartbroken and helpless.

Within the crevice.

Yu Yuan, who had been sitting for a long time by the banks of the River Styx, abruptly opened his eyes.

With his eyes open, the dark chamber was illuminated!

He had just refined strands of spiritual sense from his earthly soul into remnant souls in his Mindscape, completing the transformation of his soul. His earthly soul had undergone a metamorphosis into a Lunar Spirit. As he sensed the myriad remnant souls coursing through his spirited body like streams, he was jolted awake.

Before he could even begin to explore the wonders of the Lunar Spirit, he was overwhelmed by a killing intent so intense it nearly choked him!

He instinctively knew something was out to kill him!

How could he not respond with all his might?

The silver-gray expanse of his little world was thick with Yin Qi, swirling around him.

It seemed to naturally gravitate towards him, easily harnessed and absorbed into his body.

The remnant soul stirred.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

A torrent of Yin Qi, vast as the ocean, rushed into his chest, filling the seven acupoints opened by the Shadow Moon Essence.

Streams of refined Yin Qi, like silver filaments, seeped into his bones, sinews, and blood, imbuing him with a gentle, cool strength.

Suddenly, a blinding bolt of lightning, accompanied by a clap of thunder, shattered the silence of this tranquil realm!

The once silent silver-gray little world erupted with a thunderous roar that made Yu Yuan tremble. Focusing his gaze, he saw an arm-thick bolt of dark green lightning emerge first.

And it was heading straight for the acupoint between his eyebrows!

This formidable bolt of lightning seemed intent on obliterating his Mindscape, aiming to annihilate his newly formed, most vulnerable Lunar Spirit!

As the lightning struck, a thought from the Root of the Lunar Meridian surged forth in this little world.

"Calamity thunder!"

Yu Yuan's face paled. Without a moment's hesitation, he drew his sword sheath and, with a tingling scalp, thrust it towards the dark green lightning bolt, crying out, "Moonfall Strike!"

The crimson sword light, brimming with the power to sever the moon and cleave the heavens, carried a relentless sword's will that commanded all beings to bow.

The dazzling bolt of azure lightning, interlaced with billions of twinkling lightning crystals and the profound essence of thunder magic, was cleaved by the crimson sword light. The fragments scattered, illuminating the silver-gray space like the brilliant explosion of a sun.

With a sizzling sound, hundreds of frigid ice shards and minuscule bolts of lightning continued to rain down upon Yu Yuan's body. His corporeal form, tempered to the hardness of divine iron and fine gold, felt as though it was being devoured by innumerable insects under the relentless assault of the ice and electric fury. In a flash, his body was riddled with fine cracks and beaded with droplets of blood.

"Boom!" The Altar of Rebirth, crafted from blood jade, began to operate autonomously. It seemed to sense the life-or-death crisis Yu Yuan was facing and, without any prompting, it sprang into action. For years, the altar had consumed vast amounts of vitality, and now it was working at full capacity.

A trail of blood-red light emanated from the altar's edge, channeling pure, world-altering life power through his eight extra-channels, infusing his entire body with energy. In that moment, Yu Yuan felt as if he were immersed in a rejuvenating elixir, his whole being suffused with comfort.

The wounds that had marred his flesh healed in the blink of an eye, leaving his skin smooth as jade, translucently white, and radiating a supernatural glow. Yet, his clothes had been reduced to ashes, leaving him standing naked in this enigmatic little world.

"I will try my utmost to slow the onslaught of the heavenly thunder. As your Lunar Spirit is being tempered in the Land of Terror, it is my duty to protect you," the consciousness of the Root of the Lunar Meridian declared once more.

It reassured him that since he was forming his Lunar Spirit within the domain of the Root of the Lunar Meridian, the Way of Heaven's balancing suppression would be met with the full support of the Root's master.

"The calamity thunder is upon us; let the battle commence!" Yu Yuan grunted, narrowing his eyes. He observed the crevice he had entered through now teemed with boundless Yin Qi, which seemed to coalesce into thousands of miniature worlds in mere moments.

These tiny worlds intercepted and sealed off the space, appearing as delicate as hair but in truth as thick as anacondas, blocking the path of countless lightning bolts. The lightning surged through the crevice, streaking across the Yin Qi-condensed microcosms.

The attempt to kill him was hindered as he navigated through various little worlds.

"I must prevent any bolt of lightning from breaching the Mindscape!"

No sooner had this thought arisen than he had time to dwell on it, as two bolts of lightning, like flood dragons on the hunt, struck at the front and back of his head in quick succession.

"The lightning originates from the Glacial Storm Seal!"

In that moment, Yu Yuan recognized the distinctly icy and eerie essence within one of the lightning strikes, and enlightenment dawned upon him.

"Even without that mark, other bolts of lightning would still seek you out, descending upon the Land of Terror."

The consciousness of the Root of the Lunar Meridian drifted through the layered small worlds it had created, suffused with Yin Qi.

It also lingered in every cluster of Yin Qi, perceptible to Yu Yuan through his remnant soul.
