C810 Treating the Symptoms with Medicine!
The Soul Power that had assaulted Yu Yuan was drawn away from the Land of Terror and transported to the Moonfall Sanctuary, thanks to the formation of a new spatial passageway and the pull of the Soulforge Pool. The passage vanished rapidly, leaving only the image of the Soulforge Pool hovering above Yu Yuan's head. Having orchestrated this, Yu Yuan gently closed his eyes and then reopened them.
Upon opening his eyes, he turned and offered a smile to Rhutar, who was evading Rahu's onslaught. Rhutar's resplendent golden armor gleamed with a dazzling light under Yu Yuan's gaze. The ancient ghost, who had served Dhoreus loyally for a millennium and wandered the extraterrestrial Star River for years, felt a chill emanate from his soul. The thought of the spatial passage possibly reappearing filled him with dread.
Should the passage reopen, the Soulforge Pool, rightfully situated within the Moonfall Sanctuary, would unleash power beyond imagination. Had Zhu Zhenlin not intervened, both Mo Yan and the Devil Blade would have been swept into it. Qignas had already been ensnared...
Did he possess the strength to escape the clutches of the Soulforge Pool? This question sent a deeper shiver through Rhutar's core. Born in the Land of Terror, Rhutar was well-versed in the many tales of the Soulforge Pool within the Moonfall Sanctuary, his knowledge surpassing even that of Qignas.
"That pool could obliterate Black Staff's soul without breaking a sweat," Rhutar conveyed to the Pale Reaper through a mystique, "All seven of them are aware of the Soulforge Pool's dread. You, being the youngest, might not grasp its full extent. Take heed, keep your distance from Yu Yuan. Better to face Rahu's wrath than to fall under Yu Yuan's scrutiny."
With this in mind, Rhutar drifted backward, distancing himself from both Yu Yuan and the ominous black clouds. It was clear to all that he harbored a deep-seated fear of Yu Yuan and the Soulforge Pool.
"Why do you bother with a warning when Black Staff has already met his fate?" Pale Reaper shivered inwardly, murmuring to himself. He quickly exchanged words with the other seven ancient ghosts and began a tactical retreat, battling Rahu as they withdrew.
"You'll get yours soon enough."
With a cold huff, Yu Yuan withdrew his gaze, turned back around, and faced the cloud formed from dark energy. He peered deeply into its core with his Third Eye.
White Bone, gripping a sharp awl, was besieged by Taruer, the Ghost King. Taruer's soul had fragmented into thousands of pieces, each merging with the surrounding stones, pelting White Bone's gleaming skeletal form like a relentless storm.
Yet, the skeletal form, as if cast from steel and divine iron, remained unscathed despite the barrage of rocks. Occasionally, the Black Staff, resembling a towering stone column, would also deliver a heavy blow to White Bone.
Yu Yuan's expression shifted subtly.
Deep beneath the earth, the River Styx, intimately connected to White Bone, conveyed the will of the Root of the Lunar Meridian once more.
Qignas was still in the Land of Terror!
A mere fraction of the Black Staff's soul had departed the black cloud, transforming into a faint stream of light. It was drawn to the Soulforge Pool and exited via the spatial channel.
The majority of the soul remained concealed within the Black Staff, continuing its assault on White Bone.
"I overestimated the situation, thinking I could make Qignas let his guard down and draw out all of his soul from the cloud. It seems that to Qignas, I, with only the cultivation of a Lunar Spirit, am not worth his full effort. He believes that a quarter of his soul power is more than enough to defeat me," Yu Yuan realized.
After a wry smile, he shook off his despondency and forced himself to think clearly, considering how he could assist White Bone.
Then, White Bone spoke up once more, "Don't come in."
This was different from the indirect message relayed by Yu Yiyi through the cauldron spirit. This time, White Bone, amidst the fray with Taruer and the Black Staff within the black cloud, managed to utter the warning without concern for who might hear or any ghost that might be eavesdropping.
Qignas had not shown himself, remaining hidden within the staff, seemingly biding his time, waiting for Yu Yuan to step into the black magic cloud, into his domain, before striking.
In a flash of insight, Yu Yuan pieced together the situation.
Qignas, having lost a quarter of his soul, was wounded. He could not recover unless the part that had traveled to the Moonfall Sanctuary could return to the Land of Terror and reunite with him.
The Black Staff, wounded, would certainly not risk escaping the black cloud in soul form to launch a second soul attack.
Fearful of the spatial passage reemerging, the Black Staff remained concealed within the scepter, leading him to believe that the Black Staff had been taken to the Moonfall Sanctuary. He was under the impression that only Taruer and White Bone were battling within the dark cloud.
The Black Staff was biding his time, waiting for him to walk into the trap.
White Bone warned him not to enter because he was aware that the Black Staff was still alive.
White Bone kept silent about the Black Staff's survival because only he knew the truth. He had struck a deal with the Root of the Lunar Meridian and, with the aid of the River Styx, ascended to the Lunar Spirit, covertly communicating with the Root of the Lunar Meridian through the subterranean River Styx.
The River Styx, a gift from the Root of the Lunar Meridian to White Bone, was now being harnessed by White Bone in his battle against Taruer.
Sensing his connection with the Root of the Lunar Meridian, White Bone was alerted to the presence of the Black Staff.
Thoughts raced through Yu Yuan's mind like lightning, allowing him to swiftly grasp the inner workings of the situation.
White Bone's advice against entering was due to his knowledge that the Black Staff had shifted his focus from White Bone to Yu Yuan himself. Feigning an attack on White Bone, he was, in fact, lying in wait.
"I must dispel those black magic power clouds to unleash White Bone's full strength. I need to devise a strategy."
With a plan forming, Yu Yuan heeded White Bone's warning and positioned himself just outside the black magic power clouds, clutching the miniaturized Crucible of Evil in one hand and the sword sheath in the other.
Moments later, inspiration struck.
Hiss!
A spark of fire burst forth from Yu Yuan's grip on the sword sheath, streaking towards the dark expanse nearby.
This spark, akin to a miniature sun, burned fiercely, casting a brilliant glow.
Following the initial spark, a second, third, and fourth ensued!
These fiery specks, radiating intense heat and the brilliance of the sun, descended upon the peculiar realm formed by the dark energy within the scepter like a series of tiny suns.
"Sunfire!"
"Huh! The way that kid is invoking the sunfire, it somewhat resembles the Nine Glories Wheel, doesn't it?"
"Could it be?"
Amidst the astonished cries of the cultivators on the Euwrea Continent, miniature suns plummeted into the abyss.
These little suns were the sunfire that Yu Yuan had once refined within himself, originating from one eye of the Abyssal Leviathan.
That very eye had been transformed from a sun by the Abyssal Leviathan.
As the tiny suns descended into the depths of the dark energy, they stirred up waves upon waves!
Swoosh! Swoosh!
Each trail of the sunfire sliced through the black veil like a razor, tearing open a small world shrouded in dark magic power in an instant.
Yu Yuan himself was taken aback by this unforeseen event.
"Sunfire refined from the eye of the Abyssal Leviathan is this formidable?!" he exclaimed in horror, witnessing how the flecks of sunfire rent the World of Darkness asunder. He was suddenly filled with regret for not having saved more of it.
Originally, he had refined eight specks of sunfire to construct the Altar of Rebirth within himself. He had expended a portion to dissolve the Sunsorrow and occasionally used it during his alchemical endeavors.
After acquiring the Crucible of Evil and the scabbard, he hadn't given much thought to the sunfire.
He hadn't realized the extent of its astonishing power.
But now, his perception of the sunfire had changed in an instant!
"This is no ordinary sunfire. It's the sunfire that the cosmic giant beast refined, imbuing it with additional strength before he further condensed it," Cao Jiaze of the Ebon Star remarked, astounded by the tiny flames and the formidable force of the dark energy. "This young man is truly squandering divine gifts!"
"Isn't the potency of just a few specks of sunfire a bit exaggerated?" an Ethereal Void member exclaimed in amazement.
"It's precisely targeted. Before Qignas perished, the dark arts he practiced were associated with darkness. The dark energy emanating from the Black Staff transformed that region into a zone of absolute darkness, where one couldn't see their own hand before their face. The radiance within White Bone was only capable of cleansing tainted souls, insufficient to restore light to the World of Darkness."
"The sunfire, birthed from the Abyssal Leviathan's refinement of the sun, possesses such divine power."
"The sun in his eyes emits flames and radiance capable of banishing dark energy, transforming a world shrouded in darkness into one illuminated by the sun's glow."
Cao Jiaze marveled, "It seems that young Yu Yuan never realized the immense power and wonder of the sunfire he refined from the eyes of the Abyssal Leviathan."
At that moment,
The vast expanse of darkness was being shredded into fragments by mere specks of sunfire!
The sunfire continued to blaze. As the fiery specks slowly faded, the energy of the flames and the sun's light consumed the world of absolute darkness, burning it to nothingness.
