C816 The Way of Heaven Collided with the Great Way!
Rejecting the Root of the Lunar Meridian didn't seem like a wise decision. He had parted ways with Yuan Lianyao and Ann Ziqing, retreating to the base of Shadow Mountain with the intention of regaining the Root's recognition and resuming their previous agreement. Yet, when his Lunar Spirit left his body and was once again taken into the little world by the Root of the Lunar Meridian, he found himself hesitating briefly before resolutely declining. This led to a fierce confrontation between him and the Root of the Lunar Meridian.
The Root of the Lunar Meridian represented the will of the Land of Terror, the deity of this realm. To oppose it after the Lunar Spirit had been separated from his real body was tantamount to suicide. Nonetheless, he proceeded with a surprisingly firm resolve.
Remarkably, when he definitively refused and unilaterally terminated the agreement, demanding that the Root of the Lunar Meridian release him, the world's will once again fell silent.
Yu Yuan, in his soul form, hovered high above the expansive River Styx, experiencing a different kind of sensation. The bond between his Lunar Spirit and real body remained unbroken. He was aware that his real body was still at the mountain's base, and with the help of his heaven soul and the consciousness of his dominant soul, he had managed to stand.
At that moment, his real body had also stepped out of Shadow Mountain. The three souls were in sync. His Lunar Spirit and real body reached a decision simultaneously.
He left Shadow Mountain and made his way to the hole where White Bone had previously stood, knowing that following this tunnel would lead him deep underground to the stone fissure. Beyond that fissure lay the little world where his Lunar Spirit was confined, the very place where he had forged his Lunar Spirit.
With sword sheath in hand, his real body was prepared to wield the sword. Even with the Lunar Spirit detached, he could potentially pierce the stone fissure, carving a passage for the Lunar Spirit to escape.
Through his actions, he sent a clear message to the Root of the Lunar Meridian: If you refuse to let me leave, I'll find my own way out!
"Yu Yuan!" As his real body swiftly traversed the terrain, Yuan Lianyao and Ann Ziqing spotted him and called out in unison.
As he sped across the earth, his real body was spotted by Yuan Lianyao and Ann Ziqing, who both exclaimed in unison. They immediately recognized that something was amiss with him.
Shortly thereafter, he reached the cave that led deep underground. On the verge of descending, Ann Ziqing, clad in purple divine armor, arrived with a grave look on her face. "What's happened? Has your Lunar Spirit left your body?"
Ann Ziqing, a prodigy of the Colddeath and wielder of numerous magical artifacts and rare treasures, could tell that Yu Yuan was missing a part of his soul.
Without hesitation, it was clear that this was the Lunar Spirit that Yu Yuan had recently refined, capable of manifesting in the Land of Terror.
Like Yuan Lianyao, Yu Yuan's Lunar Spirit could move freely in the Land of Terror. Yet, without the protection of the Crucible of Evil or the natural shield of his corporeal body, Yu Yuan's Lunar Spirit was vulnerable to danger if it separated from him at this time.
For instance, Dhoreus, lurking unseen, could cast a spell from a distance and shatter his fragile Lunar Spirit with a mere thought.
Ann Ziqing was aware of his issues with Dhoreus and also knew that a ghost like Taruer possessed the power and means to cause the death of Yu Yuan's Lunar Spirit from afar.
"White Bone, Rahu is tied up with council matters and can't look after you. It's perilous for your Lunar Spirit to wander at this time," Ann Ziqing said with heartfelt concern. "Also, what are you planning to do now?"
Yuan Lianyao arrived swiftly, her face clouded with concern upon hearing Ann Ziqing's words. "What's going on?"
"I'll explain later."
Yu Yuan plunged downward.
Simultaneously, in the little world beneath the surface, Yu Yuan gazed at the expansive River Styx, attempting once more to reach out to the Soulforge Pool in the distant Moonfall Sanctuary.
The Root of the Lunar Meridian remained unresponsive, its silence enigmatic.
Yet, he understood that if he could establish a connection with the Soulforge Pool, it would indicate that the Root of the Lunar Meridian had lifted its seal—a gesture of goodwill.
He was determined to try again.
"Just as long as..."
"Huh!"
His Lunar Spirit, hovering above the flowing waters of the Styx, was startled.
Suddenly, he sensed the presence of the Soulforge Pool!
The Soulforge Pool did not reveal itself through any projection; rather, it was his Lunar Spirit that distinctly felt the Soulforge Pool gently rotating within the Moonfall Sanctuary, as if it were seeking him out, actively resonating with him!
The spiritual connection between him and the Soulforge Pool was established in an instant, yet it was not with the consent of the Root of the Lunar Meridian.
For he heard a series of "shushing" sounds.
These sounds were like sword lights of extreme sharpness, tearing through the fabric of space, piercing the light barriers, and crushing every obstruction in their path!
Without a second thought, he realized that the sword's will and sword lights etched into the walls of the Soulforge Pool must have transformed into blades, parting some celestial veil!
It was a forceful act!
The Soulforge Pool, in turn, had summoned the residual sword force within its walls, and with unparalleled sharpness, in a manner beyond his comprehension, had shattered the spatial blockade!
From the Moonfall Sanctuary in Aetherius, the sword force reached the Land of Terror in the Land of Quiescence!
This was not an embrace by the Root of the Lunar Meridian, nor its acknowledgment, but rather a challenge from the Soulforge Pool to the Land of Terror, which could even be construed as a threat!
Yu Yuan had not anticipated that his Lunar Spirit's departure from his body, drawn into this little world by the Root of the Lunar Meridian to perceive the Soulforge Pool, would trigger such earth-shattering turbulence!
And since when had the Soulforge Pool grown so formidable?
Separated by countless miles, across the vast ocean, how did the Soulforge Pool manage to extend its power into the Land of Terror?
It was at this moment.
Close to Yu Yuan's Lunar Spirit, White Bone, Razses, and Rahu—the three Ghost Kings engaged in conversation within a peculiar little world dense with Yin Qi—all simultaneously sensed something amiss.
The three Ghost Kings' eyes widened with shock as they swiftly surfaced above ground.
On the surface, they instinctively looked up to the heavens, witnessing the dark and oppressive sky of the Land of Terror slowly succumbing to a creeping darkness.
Above, the sky was riddled with innumerable fissures of light, where lightning and mysterious crystals burst forth.
As the strongest among the ghosts and spirits in the Land of Terror, the three Ghost Kings observed the bizarre changes in the void with a sense of foreboding that their realm might be on the brink of destruction.
They were not alone in their concern.
Taruer, Dhoreus, and a host of ancient Spectres from various regions of the Land of Terror were also fixated on the eerie transformations high above. It seemed as though an unknown force from another dimensional plane had forcefully breached the spatial constraints and was making its descent!
The barrier high above the Land of Terror appeared ready to burst through!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Numerous Shadow Mountains trembled, and the Styx rivers, intimately connected to the Ghost Kings, roiled with surging waters, sending plumes of dense smoke and white mist billowing into the air.
"What's happening?"
From Cuion's domain, Jiang Xingwen emerged trembling from her Shadow Mountain. As the mountain quaked, threatening to crumble, she turned to Dhoreus in a panic, "Is it you? Has your real body returned?"
Dhoreus shook his head, his expression dark, "Something is colliding with the Way of Heaven over at the Moonfall Sanctuary."
"Moonfall Sanctuary?" Jiang Xingwen was bewildered.
"That place is now the most enigmatic and peculiar location in the entire Everlands," Dhoreus said with a grave and intense gaze. "Something there is powerful enough to contend with it. In the Land of Terror, across the vast Everlands, it controls the cycle of life and death. Who could possibly stand against it?"
No one was more intimately acquainted with the Root of the Lunar Meridian than he was.
Yet, even he was in the dark about the Moonfall Sanctuary.
