C908 An Ominous Sign

Beneath the veil of night, the "Fallen Star Eyes" shimmered brilliantly.

Yu Yuan soared down and was greeted by the hazy starlight that enveloped a gleaming moonstone. There, like a celestial maiden, stood Liu Ying, poised in front of the stone, beckoning to him with a wave.

As he drew closer, Yu Yuan noticed Liu Ying's pallor and the dimness in her eyes, betraying her fatigue and restless nights.

"What's wrong?" Yu Yuan inquired, his voice laced with concern.

"Take a look."

Liu Ying gestured to the crystalline moonstone before her as Yu Yuan approached. "Navigate within it using your remnant soul, and you'll witness the nightmares that have plagued me recently. I desperately hope they are merely dreams and not a prelude to the future."

Fear was evident in her voice, and her shoulders quivered ever so slightly.

With a heart full of questions, Yu Yuan released strands of his remnant soul, which floated into the moonstone tabletop before Liu Ying.

In a flash, he was transported on a Spirit Walk into what seemed like the future!

The first sight that met his eyes was the ravaged Aetherius, strewn with corpses. The land, predominantly home to mortals, was a battlefield where the Songbird, Silvermoon, and Stormcrown Empire were locked in a brutal conflict with the forces of Divine Might, Brilliance, and Crimson Sun. Towns and cities suffered, with structures and palaces either reduced to rubble or engulfed in flames and smoke.

Within the city walls, the bodies of commoners and soldiers alike lay unattended, some charred, others decomposing.

Deeper in the wilderness, cultivators from the six great empires waged their own battles. Peaks crumbled, rivers ran dry, and forests were left with countless shattered trees.

The vision shifted, revealing the Forgeroses sect, now led by Zhongli Dapan, in ruins. Their defensive arrays were shattered, and the sect's hardy cultivators burst apart in mid-air, raining blood and limbs from the sky. It appeared as though the Forgeroses had met their end.

Another scene unfolded: the Colddeath was besieged by the Devil Palace and Ruby Hand. Yuan Lianyao and Hou Tianzhao had penetrated the Colddeath's domain, only to be struck down by blood shadows unleashed by Ann Ziqing, which invaded their bodies and snuffed out their lives.

Elsewhere, the Taintborn sect lay in ruins, trampled by the mighty archdemons of Shadow's Keep.

The Golden Elephant God revealed its true form, bearing the colossal Gold Mountain on its back, and annihilated many cultivators of the Taintborn with innumerable golden orbs of light.

A wave of golden radiance emanated from the deity, sweeping across the area and claiming the lives of the weaker Taintborn disciples.

The scene shifted once more. The formidable members of the Sword Sect reached the gates of the Starmoon Sect, with Ji Ningshuang, wielding the Stardust Blade, leading the charge against the Starmoon Sect's experts.

However, within the Starmoon Sect, Ji Ningshuang's Divine Visage shattered, and she perished beneath the vast expanse of starlight.

Chen Qingyan, closely associated with her, wielded a sword crafted from a frost wyrm in a fierce battle against Liu Ying, who wielded the Fallen Star Eyes.

Both met their end in the conflict.

Boom!

A sharp pain struck Yu Yuan's mind, and his remnant soul swiftly returned to him.

"Did you see that? I died. After my battle with Chen Qingyan, we both met our demise," Liu Ying lamented, her face etched with sorrow. "We bore no grudges against each other. Why did we have to fight to the death?"

Yu Yuan remained silent, his mind replaying the vivid images, still processing what he had witnessed.

Yuan Lianyao was dead, slain by Ann Ziqing. Chen Qingyan and Liu Ying had also fallen. Ji Ningshuang's Divine Visage was obliterated, and her fate seemed grim...

Could it all have been a nightmare?

After what felt like an eternity, Yu Yuan, still shaken, asked with a strained voice, "Are these bizarre scenes from your dreams? How did they come to be?"

Liu Ying gestured towards the sinister stone statue looming in the distant sky.

The stone statues, once benevolent and gentle, now appeared indistinct and blurred. Yu Yuan gazed at them, attempting to connect, but he encountered only chaos, a stark contrast to previous encounters.

"It manifested in my dream," Liu Ying explained softly. "It told me that it expended significant energy to project these scenes into my dream. It will need quite some time to recover. It's almost succumbing to confusion because of this."

Yu Yuan's expression darkened. "It communicated with you?"

"Yes, it said those scenes might unfold in the future," Liu Ying confirmed with a grave nod. "I also saw Thylethlume razed to the ground, with all members of the Yu family perishing. There was more—I saw Yu Zhu being pursued, forced to flee from the Forgotten Ruins."

"In the future!"

Yu Yuan was jolted to his core, unable to contain the horror welling up inside him.

"It said that many trajectories in the future could change," Liu Ying murmured, her eyes slightly narrowed as she recalled the vision. "It's a warning. It informed me that after the grand trade fair of the Terror Claws concludes, those scenes could become reality."

"I waited for you in Moonfall Sanctuary because I wanted you to see those possibilities, to understand what might unfold in the future."

"I saw even more. I witnessed battles involving the three upper sects—Devil Palace, Shadow's Keep—and numerous unknown powerhouses. Most were people like us, with only a few being Otherkin and Sky Fiends."

"The final vision you witnessed was my death."

"And I... I saw the entire Everlands fracture, breaking into dozens of land fragments."

Liu Ying shuddered at the memory. "I hope it's not true. The things it showed me were too horrifying, almost beyond belief."

Yu Yuan took several deep breaths, seemingly trying to regain his composure.

After a moment's pause, he spoke with grave seriousness. "Stay in Moonfall Sanctuary for now, don't venture out! If possible, try to communicate these visions to your master while you're there. As for me, I must make an urgent trip to Fiendpeak to seek counsel."

The Evil Statue, rumored to be a war weapon forged by Boulderdawn, possessed unfathomable mystical properties.

It had projected those visions into Liu Ying's dreams through the Fallen Star Eyes, serving as a dire warning to both her and Yu Yuan.

But could the future of the Everlands truly unfold in such a catastrophic manner?

With a whoosh, he descended from the Fallen Star Eyes and landed directly on the teleportation circle, gesturing for Qin Yun, Wen Lu, Qi Yunhong, and Tong Laoqian to join him.

"Mr. Ho, could you please transport us to the Terror Claws?" he asked.

"Anytime," Ho Zhan replied with a smile.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please hurry!" Yu Yuan called out.

Wen Lu, Tong Laoqian, and Qi Yunhong moved about, their curiosity piqued by the wonders of the forbidden area, eager to uncover the myriad secrets of this long-renowned region.

Upon hearing Yu Yuan's impatient call, they at last converged.

"Something seems off with your complexion," Tong Laoqian observed, scrutinizing the Fallen Star Eyes with a hint of concern. "Liu Ying has been rambling on lately, claiming she's plagued by nightmares. Just yesterday, her face had an unhealthy pallor. Why do you look the same after coming down?"

"Young Master, has something happened?" Qin Yun inquired.

"Yu Yuan, what's the matter?" Shi Yuxuan chimed in.

"It's a long story and of great importance; I can't explain right now," Yu Yuan replied as he saw everyone had arrived. He gave Ho Zhan an affirming nod, urging, "Please, make haste."

"Alright, everyone, refrain from using your spiritual energy and remnant soul carelessly. I'm about to activate the rune circle!" Ho Zhan cautioned.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Beams of brilliant light encircled the teleportation circle, and a fierce spatial disturbance erupted beneath their feet.

A dazzling screen of light gradually enveloped the group before swiftly contracting.

In a blink, they vanished.

Whoosh!

Reappearing within another teleportation circle belonging to the Terror Claws, Yu Yuan and his companions were immediately greeted by a cacophony reminiscent of crashing waves and the sight of various peculiar Otherkin. They also caught sight of President Lyi delivering a speech, suspended midair.

"Yu Yuan, you've managed to arrive just in time!"
