C93 Returning

The moonlight cast an icy glow.

A slender silhouette glided through the void, leaving a trail of afterimages with every step she took.

The moonlight, liquid in its luminosity, cascaded over her form only to vanish in the blink of an eye.

It was as though she were endlessly consuming the moonlight itself.

Moments later, she hovered in the sky, the moon suspended above her, while below, Lee Yu and his fellow trial-takers looked on.

Clutching the Soul Orb, Lee Yu looked up, his face etched with shock, yet his voice remained eerily calm, "Feng Xin."

"Feng Xin!"

The realization dawned on everyone below that the unexpected visitor was none other than the leader of the Wethtalos trial-takers.

"It's not you."

Feng Xin's eyes glowed a haunting green, like twin lanterns aflame within her pupils.

Murmuring in an ancient tongue, her gaze swept over each person in turn.

The onlookers below, fixated on the motionless Feng Xin above, felt a chill settle in their hearts.

They had surmised that the formidable alien soul, impervious even to the Soul Orb, was indeed Feng Xin.

"What are you, this alien being?"

Lee Yuan of the Lee family, standing beside Lee Yu, bellowed with a mix of ferocity and trepidation, "The Moonfall Sanctuary has always been under the dominion of our Silvermoon Empire! No matter who or what you are, you cannot run amok within our borders and expect to escape!"

"The Silvermoon Empire's territory since time immemorial?" Feng Xin's voice was soft, yet carried a biting edge, "You consider this forbidden area your land?"

"Laughable."

Her gaze abruptly shifted to Lee Yuan.

A fleeting spark of green fire danced in the depths of her eyes.

The tumultuous divine force surrounding Lee Yuan coalesced into a torrent, surging up from beneath him.

Like a misty gray dragon, it propelled Lee Yuan skyward, delivering him straight to Feng Xin.

"This land has always belonged to the Moonfiend clan."

Feng Xin's words were deliberate, spoken clearly so that all could hear and understand.

As she spoke, Lee Yuan writhed as if being sliced by a thousand blades.

Blood streamed from the sky like a crimson cascade, painting a macabre yet striking scene.

Lee Yuan's eyes were wide open, desperate to speak, yet no words came forth.

"Moonfiend!"

"Moonfiend!"

Below, the imperial scions like Su Yan and Yan Lu finally grasped her true identity.

Others, including Han Hui and Zhan Tianxiang, recalled the ancient legend and their faces turned pale.

In the endless chill of the night, the Moonfiend stirred from its slumber, signaling a potential shift in the reign of nations...

The Moonfiend had awakened. The night was unrelentingly cold, the world harsh and frigid. These omens, could they truly foretell the fall of the Silvermoon Empire?

With this realization, they understood that calamity might also be brewing within the Empire itself.

Perhaps the elders of their family, the military, and Her Majesty the Empress were all feeling the immense pressure from the Moonfiend.

"Crash!"

Lee Yuan's body plummeted from the sky, striking the icy earth below.

"No matter her strength, the approach remains the same," Yan Lu steadied himself and declared, "Destroy her physical form and force the Moonfiend out. Without a body, only the Moonfiend's soul remains. Then, with the Soul Orb, we can obliterate her soul using targeted spells and artifacts."

As he spoke, he conjured the Soulsever Staff, taking aim at Feng Xin from a distance.

Suddenly, the staff burst forth with dazzling gold and silver light, exuding an aura that seemed to suppress the soul, and it hurtled forward.

"This staff..."

Feng Xin appeared mildly surprised and inquired of Yan Lu, "What's its name?"

"Soulsever Staff!"

"No, that's incorrect."

Feng Xin shook her head, "It's not 'sever,' but 'split.' The Soul Splitting Staff, capable of separating the three souls of heaven, earth, and man from their corporeal form. This Soul Splitting Staff must have originated from this forbidden area. Alas..."

"You're too weak."

She recited the true name of the Soulsever Staff with ease. As the staff neared her, she extended a finger and lightly tapped it.

Her fingertip made contact with the tip of the Soul Splitting Staff.

"Crackle!"

Countless tendrils of green lightning entwined around the staff, engulfing its golden and silver radiance and filling the engraved patterns.

Then, she gently grasped the Soul Splitting Staff, looked at the stunned Yan Lu, and said, "This artifact is immensely powerful against human cultivators, but it doesn't have much of a restraining effect on us Moonfiends."

"Swoosh!"

She hurled the Soul Splitting Staff like a streak of green lightning.

"Watch out!"

As the others cried out in alarm, Yan Lu had no time to prepare a defense and could only attempt to dodge to the side.

The Soul Splitting Staff, swift as a sword, pierced through his waist and inflicted severe injuries in an instant.

"Who is Van Le?"

Feng Xin scanned the area, yet she didn't spare Yan Lu a second glance.

As she called out for Van Le, many people instinctively turned their gaze in his direction.

Van Le inwardly cursed his luck.

"So it's you." Feng Xin's gaze settled on him, and she raised her hand as though about to seize something from afar.

The chaotic divine force surged wildly, coalescing into a colossal hand that could reach the heavens. It snatched Van Le as effortlessly as an eagle captures a chick, lifting him into the sky.

"Lee Yu! Save me!"

Midair, Van Le struggled frantically, seeking assistance.

In his heart, only Lee Yu held a glimmer of hope to rescue him from Feng Xin's grasp.

Feng Xin, high above, was out of reach for those on the ground.

Only objects had the potential to harm her.

"Come forth!"

A green, ethereal dagger, as if nurtured within Lee Yu's middle elixir field and tempered by his vitality day and night, burst forth from his chest.

The dagger, no longer than half an arm, radiated a piercing force capable of cleaving the heavens.

"Gutrender!"

Su Yan's voice rose, her eyes sparkling with a glint of hope.

"The Empire's esteemed weapon, Gutrender!" Lin Zhuyun's spirits lifted.

"Gutrender!"

"The Lee family has entrusted Gutrender to Lee Yu!"

"Such a national treasure!"

The trial-takers below, witnessing the green dagger rocketing towards Feng Xin, cried out in amazement.

Gutrender sliced through the air, a swift green flash of brilliance.

The sword's will emanating from the dagger made the night sky crackle, as if space itself were being punctured by its unyielding force.

"Pfft!"

The giant hand, a construct of the mingled divine force, burst into oblivion as Gutrender made its passage.

Van Le plummeted from the sky.

In the next moment, Gutrender pierced Feng Xin's chest, transfixing her heart.

She couldn't evade it.

Yet the verdant glow in Feng Xin's eyes remained unextinguished. She gazed down at the Gutrender protruding through her chest and murmured softly, "This body isn't mine, and I am not human. Even with a sword through my heart, I will not die."

As she spoke, she extended her hand languidly to seize the Gutrender.

Her fingers were entwined with innumerable slender green lightning bolts.

The onlookers below, pale-faced, hung on her every word and observed her every move.

They were abruptly reminded of Zhu Huan and Lou Ling, who had been reduced to bloody pulp before the Moonfiend made its escape.

Feng Xin, hovering above, was far more powerful than those two. Who could possibly reduce her to a bloody mess?

Yet, it seemed that even being impaled through the heart and lungs scarcely affected her.

"You aimed at the wrong spot. Don't go for the heart; aim for the brow and shatter her skull." Suddenly, a voice that was both familiar and strange echoed from a distance.

"Yu Yuan!"

"Yu Yuan!"
