C26 He Had Just Met Scarface Lee

Descending from the eighth floor, Niu Li felt a weight lifted off his shoulders, his spirit invigorated. Pretending to be an expert was surprisingly delightful, and the awe in others' eyes made him feel like he was on top of the world!

Riding the wave of his good mood, Niu Li made his way back to the seventh floor, but not to gamble this time. His few bets had paid off handsomely, and he hadn't lost sight of his goal: to earn enough to provide for his Elf.

He pulled a heap of purple coins and a bank card from his ring and tossed them onto the exchange counter, declaring, "Convert these into cash and deposit it, please."

Initially, the young woman at the counter hadn't given Niu Li a second glance, but the sight of the purple coins left her gobsmacked. She realized her mistake; the unfashionably dressed man before her was loaded!

She quickly flashed a captivating smile, tallying the coins while throwing flirtatious glances at Niu Li, hoping to catch the eye of this affluent patron.

But Niu Li wasn't biting. He remained indifferent to her charms.

With no other option, the young woman counted the coins swiftly. Upon finishing, she was taken aback by the staggering sum and gave Niu Li another sultry look.

Niu Li, however, stayed focused on the purple coins.

17,585,000!

That was the staggering count of his winnings.

Even for someone extraordinary like Niu Li, the amount was astonishing.

He was officially wealthy.

"Deposit this into my bank account. And this is for you," Niu Li said, plucking a 5,000 purple coin and tossing it to the young woman with a grin.

"Thank you, young master," she responded, her attempt at seduction having failed but the generous tip leaving her pleased. She smiled her thanks and began the transfer with practiced ease.

Card in hand, Niu Li headed for the stairs. His mission here was complete, and he'd even met a beautiful woman—perfection. Now, all that was left was to give Mr. Long Hair and Chickenhead, the ones who brought him here, a piece of his mind.

Since they were intent on causing chaos in his life, Niu Li was determined not to let them off the hook.

Fingering the bottle of pills in his pocket, a sinister grin spread across his face. Mr. Long Hair was in for some payback.

Riding the elevator to the third floor, Niu Li unleashed his Mental Energy to track down Long Hair and Chickenhead. The Elf had overextended herself and needed time to recuperate, so he was on his own for the next move.

It must have been after nine in the evening; Nighty Night's third floor was buzzing with activity. Rooms that had been dark earlier were now aglow, and the air was filled with the sound of alluring voices.

Having been through such scenes before, Niu Li knew exactly what was going on. The seductive murmurs even stirred a restlessness within him.

But he was a young man, brimming with vitality.

With a concerted effort, Niu Li quelled the rising tide of desire and continued down the corridor towards the reception hall.

He hadn't reached the hall when a familiar, piercing voice reached his ears.

It was Chickenhead, his slight frame belied by his shrill tone. He was berating two young girls, piquing Niu Li's interest.

Niu Li crept closer, enveloping Chickenhead with his Mental Energy. The man was seething with anger, and from the bits of conversation Niu Li could make out, he gleaned surprising intel.

The girls being upbraided by Chickenhead were in Scarface Lee's entourage, but something had apparently displeased Scarface, landing them in Chickenhead's harsh tutelage.

Niu Li had no interest in Chickenhead's tirade. His attention was on Scarface Lee, H City's reigning underground kingpin, and more crucially, Lee Mengmeng's older brother—the protector of that brash and overbearing young woman.

Niu Li was eager to gauge the extent of his notoriety.

Silently, he stood by. Eventually, Chickenhead's lecture wound down, the man seemingly exhausted. With a few curt words, he dismissed the ashen-faced girls.

Then, Chickenhead grabbed a bottle of chilled red tea from the counter, gulping it down before exhaling a satisfied sigh.

Chickenhead suddenly remembered something, spun around, and scurried down another corridor.

Niu Li's expression shifted, and he stealthily trailed behind.

After navigating several twists and turns, Chickenhead came to a halt in front of a particularly opulent passage. He tapped gently on a door and said, "Scarface, young master Tang Qiu has been called away by the patriarch. He might not make it."

"Then let it be. You may leave. And don't let anyone disturb me," came a deep, resonant voice from within the room.

Niu Li, attuned with his Mental Energy, immediately recognized the voice as Scarface Lee's. It matched perfectly with the voice he'd heard during his kidnapping when Mr. Hu and Scarface Lee were conversing.

Not daring to linger, Chickenhead quickly departed.

With a more intriguing prospect at hand, Niu Li decided to temporarily ignore this small fry.

He found a secluded nook and expanded his Mental Energy to its fullest extent, monitoring every movement inside the lavish room.

As his Mental Energy penetrated the room, Niu Li's mind conjured images of three individuals.

A young man in his twenties, exuding an air of sternness, sat rigidly on a couch, with another stoic young man standing behind him.

On another couch sat a figure that caught Niu Li by surprise—Mr. Hu himself!

These two had been at loggerheads just at noon, and now they were sitting together?

"Mr. Hu, we've known each other for quite some time. You've looked out for me twice in the past. Frankly, you're like an elder to me," Scarface Lee said with a hint of earnestness.

Unaffected, Mr. Hu sat silently, his gaze cool and detached as he observed Scarface Lee.

"I had hoped to involve Tang Qiu as a mediator, but that's not an option now. You've come here alone today, so I'll cut to the chase. I had no hand in Jiang Zhennan's affair. I've found some evidence, but I fear you won't believe me," Scarface Lee continued.

"Evidence?" Mr. Hu's face finally showed a flicker of emotion, his eyes glinting with a touch of scorn, yet he remained silent.

"I figured you wouldn't take my word for it, but let me just say this. Among the evidence I've gathered, some leads suggest a connection to the R People. I'm still piecing together the full story. If you trust me, I promise to clarify everything within three days," Scarface Lee stated, his voice carrying the authority befitting a newly minted mafia godfather.

Mr. Hu remained silent, simply easing his frame into the sofa and shifting his gaze to the chandelier overhead, seemingly lost in thought.

Scarface Lee held his tongue as well; further talk was futile at this point. Everything hinged on Mr. Hu's reaction.

The buzz of a phone vibrating cut through the silence.

Scarface Lee's brow furrowed, his eyes darkening as he fixed a stern look on the young man behind him.

Unruffled, the young man pulled out his phone and took the call.

Moments later, he hung up and leaned in to whisper something to Scarface Lee.

In an instant, Scarface Lee shot to his feet, his expression stormy.

Mr. Hu's attention was drawn by Scarface Lee's sudden movement. A flicker of confusion crossed his face—what could possibly shake the normally unflappable Scarface Lee to his core?

After a brief hesitation, Scarface Lee managed a wry smile and broke the news, "Mr. Hu, there's been trouble. Your man, Chen Tieyao, was found dead at a scrapyard in the south district—and it's a particularly bizarre death."

"Tiehyao is dead!" Mr. Hu's demeanor shifted dramatically. He rose swiftly, his eyes seething with menace as he glared at Scarface Lee.
