C14 Mountain Demons Are Not Gods

"Actually, Gao Zhenhui has a brother," Gao Ming said suddenly.

Su Qian looked up from the orange book. He was facing the mountain range in front of him. One of his legs was hanging under a rock, and his other hand was resting on his knees. He looked lazy and relaxed.

"When he was a little boy, because of family reasons, Gao Zhenhui was sent to live with an aunt, and the second son who stayed at home was very popular with the old lady. My second uncle was spoiled from a young age, and when he grew up, all he did was drink and gamble."

He paused, and the light from the fire lit up his flaxen bangs, casting a shadow over his eyes.

"And then?" Su Qian couldn't help but ask.

His thin lips, as if carved by a knife, went on: "Then my second uncle became attached to Gao Zhenhui, and the whole family stopped working and waited for the big brother in the city to send the money home. But Gao Zhenhui had money, too."

Su Qian had listened to his story, but she didn't know why he was telling it to her, or why his face would turn sour whenever he talked about Uncle Gao. But today, when he told her about the parasite-like existence of his second uncle's family, there was only disdain in his voice.

"You can say I'm arrogant, but I stand by my opinion that wealth is based on a fair return of hard work, and that the poor only ask others why they are poor, like my second uncle." He turned around and arrogance and arrogance appeared on his face.

Su Qian finally asked uneasily, "What do you want to tell me?"

"What I want to say is that you are different from them, so I'm not talking about the people at the bottom," he explained.

Su Qian was slightly surprised and remembered what An Wei'er said that day. She didn't think much about it but Gao Ming took it to heart.

"Ming, so you're here."

Anvil herself came up behind him, wearing a slim gym shorts suit for hiking, her wavy hair tied back with a baseball cap, and white moccasins that didn't hide her long white legs.

"What's wrong?" Gao Ming glanced back at her, but then quickly looked past her into the crowd behind them.

Su Qian also saw more than a dozen people holding flashlights and going down the mountain from different directions.

"Oh, I heard that a classmate drank some wine and went to relieve himself for an hour without coming back. Maybe the cat fell asleep somewhere. " Anvil only glanced behind her and didn't seem to care at all.

But it wasn't a small matter that someone had gone missing for an hour in the forest.

Su Qian closed her book and stood up from the rock with Gao Ming. She looked at them for a while. She ignored what An Wei Er was saying to Gao Ming and walked towards the crowd.

"What happened?" She asked a student who was talking about it.

"Liu Yang from Class 3 was drinking with a few classmates just now. He suddenly said that he needed to pee and went to relieve himself for more than an hour. His classmates were worried that something would happen, so they reported it to Director Wang." The classmate explained.

"Which direction did he go?" Su Qian continued to ask.

The student pointed at the small valley in the southwest direction, "Over there, but the teachers have already searched for him. He's not there."

"Thank you."

Regardless of whether what he said was useful or not, after Su Qian thanked him briefly, she took the flashlight and walked in the direction of the mountain path.

Just as she was about to go down the mountain, another voice called out from behind, "Su Qian!"

She quickly stopped and turned around to see Gao Ming, who was also chasing after her. With a leap, he appeared in front of her, "I'll go with you. This matter doesn't seem that simple."

"Okay."

After all, they were both looking for the truth, so Su Qian didn't refuse. The two of them went down the mountain together and slowly walked into a dense forest.

There were crickets chirping in the dark, punctuated by the occasional plaintive cry of a bird, and there was always a faint rustling in the grass, and under the dark blue sky the withered branches of the trees were like snarling evil spirits, smelling of rotting wood and earth.

Ding, ding, ding...

In such a calm night, the sudden ringtone on Su Qian's wrist sounded extremely crisp.

"Demonic Qi?" Su Qian looked at Gao Ming, who was also looking at her, and her expression instantly became serious.

Gao Ming immediately took out a small piece of rhombus iron from his pocket. He pressed his thumb on the bottom of the iron, and with a slight sound, it immediately extended by half a meter.

Su took two silver double-headed awls from her backpack, put the flashlights back in the bag, and held one in each hand. She twisted the silver rings in the middle of the rubies, each extending another ten centimeters.

"Be careful," Gao Ming reminded coldly.

Su Qian took advantage of the light in his hand and carefully followed behind him to observe the surroundings. She was ready to make a move at any time.

Suddenly, there was a sound of rustling leaves on the ground. Before Su Qian could find out what it was, she felt something tighten around her ankle and she fell to the ground in pain."

" Ugh! "

She let out a cry of pain. She could vaguely see a sturdy vine that was pulling her leg backwards!

"Heaven and Earth Return, Scarlet Traceless!"

Luckily, Gao Ming turned around in time to find that he had flipped over and used the magic weapon in his hand to cut off the vine that was holding Su Qian back.

The remaining vines that had been cut off slipped away quietly. Just as Gao Ming was helping Su Qian up again, there was a loud noise around them. The ground was shaking violently. The two of them looked back in shock.

Seeing this, Su Qian immediately adjusted her fighting posture and stood with her back to Gao Ming.

The two of them were fighting their own battles. One of them was scarlet and the other was purple in color. As soon as the weapons came into contact with the attacking vines, they fell to the ground like a gecko with its tail cut off, turning into dead wood. However, the remaining vines seemed to be able to grow infinitely.

"No, we can't go on like this!" Su Qian took the opportunity to say to Gao Ming. After hundreds of moves, her forehead was covered with layers of sweat. In comparison, Gao Ming was only slightly better than her.

The merciless vines attacked again. Su Qian turned around and cut them off.

After pondering for a moment, Gao Ming took out a yellow paper talisman from his pocket and began to chant a spell.

"Lord above, let me borrow the flame!"

He continued to chant and the fire spread out. All the trees were swallowed by the fire!

The vines that were attacking them were like snakes in a fire. They all drew back to their bodies in fear. Some of them were touched by the fire. They twisted in pain and turned into ashes.

At this moment, an old voice came from the forest.

"Stop burning! Stop burning!"

Su Qian looked around her, but there was no one in the area where the fire was spreading. There was only a giant ancient tree not far away.

"Don't burn it, it'll burn out..."

Su Qian was also worried that the whole forest would be burned. She couldn't help but pull at Gao Ming's sleeve.

Seeing this, the old tree sighed with relief. Then, it wriggled its roots and walked toward the two of them.

"It seems that both of you are cultivators." Its voice was old and airy, but it had an aura of power. It suddenly turned to Gao Ming, "Young man, looking at your skills, you should have reached the fourth step, but it is not suitable for an earth mage to play with fire!"

The surroundings were filled with the smell of burnt trees, and white smoke rose under the dark blue curtain.

"Who are you?" Gao Ming asked coldly. The Scarlet Dark Sword in his hand was still in a defensive state.

"I am the Mountain God of this place," the old tree said.

"Mountain Demon?" Gao Ming asked to confirm.

Mountain God?" Gao Ming asked to confirm. The old tree was immediately unhappy, The Mountain God isn't a monster."

"Mountain demons are not gods," Gao Ming blurted out.

"You!" The old tree was instantly enraged, and his wrinkled face scrunched up.

"Okay, okay." Seeing this, Su Qian quickly stood between the two sides. Whether it was the Mountain God or the Mountain Demon in front of her, it was obvious that the old tree had lived here for a long time.

"Senior, we didn't mean to offend you. It's just that one of our companions has gone missing in this forest. Have you seen him?" Su Qian respectfully asked.

The old tree seemed to know who she was referring to. He gave a cold snort and said angrily, "You don't have to look for him anymore."

Su Qian and Gao Ming were both shocked. So the missing student was really here!

They remembered that when they came down the mountain just now, there was a small temple covered in red glass tiles next to the mountain path. There was a miniature version of the mountain deity statue inside.

"Please calm down, senior. He is just a kid in front of you. You can't argue with a kid, can you?"

"Cut the crap. Hand him over or I will burn your forest!"

Su Qian was trying to comfort him, but Gao Ming suddenly interrupted her and said something threatening.

The old tree was obviously irritated by his tough attitude. He waved his branches and leaves, and the wind was blowing around him, "Heh, young man, you are so arrogant. Do you really think I am afraid of you?"

"Why don't you try it?" A flame lit up in Gao Ming's hand.

Both sides were ready to fight. The air was filled with the smell of gunpowder!
