C15 A GIFT FROM MALCOLM HIDDLESTON
As promised by Malcolm, after dinner Mia goes to see him. She knocks on the door slowly, the man greets her with a beaming face in the pajamas she wore. Mia does not dare enter, only tiptoeing him on the piece of paper she tried to write down all afternoon. Malcolm looks at her timid appearance, then smiles happily, props his hand against the wall, and asks her:
"Why don't you come in and have a cup of tea with me?"
Mia shakes her head, lowers her head, and buries the paper in the man's hand. But Malcolm keeps gripping his palm to make it difficult for Mia, who annoyedly takes his hand and removes each finger. The young man takes the opportunity and pulls her inside, slamming the door and locking it. The paper falls, Mia quickly picks it up and puts it on the table for him, saying:
"I just come here to give you the paper, please open the door"
But Malcolm laughs again, lits a cigarette, and says to Mia:
“Do you believe the words of a monster? I never need that, it is just an excuse to see you”
Mia is very angry after hearing that, she can’t believe that her efforts are a joke by the man. She takes the paperback, silent.
“You are too trusting of people, once again you have been deceived by me because of your innocence. I don't need your squiggly lines. If I need to do this, I will prioritize Lita or anyone else, not you!”
The boy's words anger the girl's self-esteem. Mia has always been self-aware of her lowly status, but that's no reason for people to laugh at her. Mia clutches the paper, her shoulders shaking. Malcolm touches her, and the girl angrily pushes him away. Her eyes turn red, and she says to him in a trembling voice:
“Why do you always take me as your joke? I am not your toy… Please, please let me go”
She says, tears welling up in her eyes. When Malcolm sees her like that, he lets go of her hand, looking like he does not know what to say for a moment. He gives Mia the key with an expressionless face, Mia sobs and runs out. Malcolm sits still on the bed, his eyes cold as ice.
Mia lays still on the bed, tears still falling.
"Don't cry, don't cry! Why am I crying because of his words… It's disgusting” – The girl comforts herself.
Early the next morning, the girl hears that Malcolm had to be away for 2 or 3 days, so she feels quite comfortable. But in this mansion, there is no such thing as joy. She is not allowed to leave the house even for a single step.
Although it is planned, almost a week has passed, and Malcolm has not returned, she can’t help but ask David, he looks at her with surprised eyes, and asks again:
"Don't you know he's hospitalized? It is said that just as he was about to sign the contract, he fainted and was taken to the Hiddleston family hospital.”
Mia is very surprised, she immediately asks:
"Do you know why he's like that?" – The girl's face is filled with worry and concern.
Although she does not like Malcolm very much, hearing that he is hospitalized like that, she still feels pity.
“If what I heard from Olivia's side… how should I say it? I don't know if I should say it or not, because it concerns you"
“To me?…” – Mia falls into deep thought, she thinks about Malcolm, seemingly realizing something – “Is it, because he doesn't drink blood?”
Receiving David's answer, the girl blames herself. If she hadn't expressed her anger at him that day, he probably wouldn't have been in such a situation. David also tells her that vampires like Malcolm need to drink blood once a week to stay healthy and to be exposed to sunlight.
“Can… can I visit him?”
“I'm afraid not. Maybe this will make you unhappy, but I'm not sure you'll be kept here. Because you broke the law that any blood donor must obey. I wish good luck to you, Miss Mia”
Mia can not have imagined that just because of her pride, she will put herself in such a situation. She is extremely upset and goes back to her room, preparing to pack up because she knows she wouldn't be able to stay here for too long. Mia writes a letter to Malcolm, intending to send it to Olivia to keep for him until he gets back to him.
“Perhaps I also need to say bye to everyone…”
Mia tidies up her room. Suddenly the door opens, and a familiar voice comes from behind:
“Hey, little cat, what are you doing sitting on the floor and the room is empty?”
Mia turns her face in surprise, her eyes filled with tears when she sees the man, she quickly hands him the letter and then bows her head to apologize. The young man opens the letter, reads it quickly, and laughs.
“Are you going to apologize to me with just words like that?” – He pats Mia on the head, gently wipes her tears, then hugs her in his arms – “Don't worry, you will never escape my hand!”
“But… are you getting better, is it because I should…”
"That's right, it's all on you. The adults in the family are determined to find out your identity to banish you from this house” – The young man says thoughtfully – “But you are mine anyway, they have no rights but make me do this and that"
Mia is embarrassed and says irritably:
“…If you're okay, please let go of me.”
The boy frowns, stares at Mia, and says as if he was sulking:
“So it's just because you feel sorry for me that you let me hug you like that? Honestly, how cruel!”
"It's not as bad as you when you despised my handwriting" – Mia turns her face away and escapes from the boy's arms.
Malcolm smiles cheerfully, taps her forehead, and replies:
"So you're still angry about that? Indeed, I am not right, but you are also wrong to leave so that I have to be hospitalized for more than 3 days?”
"But aren't you fine now?"
The man happily takes out a present from his pocket and gives it to Mia. The girl asks him in surprise. Malcolm replies:
“It's just… I feel like winter is coming, but you still wear thin skirts, so on the occasion of a business trip, I bought you a cotton robe”
“Can I…can I open it?” - Mia asks timidly.
"Of course, it's for you!"
Mia holds a white cotton shirt in her hand, it looks very thick, she looks at it with extremely happy eyes, looks at the guy, and asks again:
“Can I take it?… I guess it's quite expensive”
“Yes, it is not cheap. So I need to be more active. You know, kitty?"
Mia is delighted.
"Thank you. But… my name is Mia, not a cat”
The boy is also delighted to see her like this, and he pats her head again and tells her to try it. Mia carefully put it on, her face beaming like a child who is just received a present.
“It suits you”
"Thanks..." Mia looks at the man for a long time.
Feeling a bit strange, he asks her, the girl bits her lip and replies:
“Are you lying to me again?”
"So you're worried about that? I can't use my old tricks on you. But this time I just want to give it to you!”
Mia smiles softly, her smile is so pure and sweet. Malcolm just wants to take it for his own.
“Then… you're not as bad as I thought you were”
"So you always think badly of me?"
