C6 Chapter 6

That very night, Viana sat down with a worried look, the source of light coming from the bulb was low. The lighting of the room was a bit dim. She sat down on a wooden chair in her room and stared out through the windows that were open. It was getting dark and Doris is yet to be back.

She went for a run has always been her excuse and Viana wonders why she does so also at night.

She was a bit worried for her friend because she wouldn't want something bad happening to her.

Yes, Doris is swift and strong. People always underestimate her for her slim stature but she leaves them to ponder when she displays her act of bravery.

Viana Heard a sound from outside and made a quick leap to the window to peep.

She sighed with disappointment and immediately saw it wasn't Doris.

It's getting late, what would be keeping her up till this time.

She pondered still, as she sat down, folding her arms with a worried face.

Doris has been a very good friend to her, more like a sister she never had.

She helped her with lots of school work and other necessary places where help was needed. So any harm befalling Doris should be a thing of concern to her.ls

Suddenly her gaze fell on a bracelet made of pearls. That reminded her of Dorathy.

A victim of bullying and low self esteem.

That fateful day, Doris and Viana witnessed Dorathy being bullied secretly.

She was being made fun of by three huge males and two females who had fun seeing the poor girl tormented.

Dorathy was on the floor sobbing and was unable to answer a question directed at her, which triggered one of the huge guys almost hitting her until Viana and Doris rushed to the scene.

It was so painful for Viana to bear.

"How could you do this to your fellow "she fumed

"Little angel, if I were you I would mind my business and allow us to do our thing" one of the guys retorted.

"Your thing huh?" Doris chipped in

"What did she ever do to you, aren't you happy with the harm you caused to her? " She was almost yelling, pointing at Dorathy's face. She was bleeding through her nose, in addition to some scars on her face.

"If you must know tiger, she's a poor rogue, not only about being a rogue, she has no body, no mother, no father. She doesn't belong here" one of the girls who looked lanky tall said with no remorse.

"Go tell your alpha who accepted her, that she isn't welcomed". Doris yelled back.

This time Viana had helped the poor Dorathy to get on her feet.

What do they mean by rogue, alpha. Viana was a bit confused.

Maybe they are slang words, she thought to herself.

She wasn't much of a social person compared to Doris.

The girls fumed with anger, why the guys gritted their teeths.

"Not so fast baby dogs, and if you think I can't do anything, try to stop me, trust me I can already perceive your weaknesses and your inability to do nothing"

Viana was surprised and happy at Doris' courageous act. She didn't know Doris as a fighter.

One of the guys wanted to go a step forward towards Doris but was stopped by his friend.

"Let's not make a fuss" he whispered.

Dorathy was grateful. " I can't thank you two enough"

This is not the only group that reminds her how unwanted she is.

"You can report, you know," Viana insisted.

"Here, take" she said, stretching out her hand to Viana offering her the pearl bracelet.

" It was one of the possessions I had from my late parents," she continued, smiling and talking slowly.

"That's not necessary", Doris said.

Waving her head, Dorathy insisted

" No please, you two stood up for me, what no one has done. It was my lucky charm bracelet. It protects and brings good to me and is known for its calming effects. So please don't reject this from me".

She had that pleading look on her eyes and held their hands rubbing it.

"Okay fine", Doris raised her hands up.

"I accept your gift but I won't be needing it".

"I would take it" Viana spoke up smiling at the girl who smiled back.

That was how they knew Dorathy and atimes checked up on her.

Viana smiled, she went to the table where the bracelet was on, took it and put it on.

The sound from the door brought her back to reality.

She went to the door only to see Doris.

"You got me worried" Viana approached her. Doris walked on looking all tired and drenched. It seemed like it was drizzling.

She entered her room, with Viana trailing behind.

"What kept you so late?"she continued with the query.

" Viana not now please, I am all exhausted please. She stressed the please.

" What if something had happened to you" adamant Viana went on

"Nothing would have happened to me" she huffed, and rolled her eyes like it was nothing serious.

"Really" The questioning look on Vianas face made Doris know she's being serious.

That's Viana for you, always acting like a mother.

"Okay I am sorry, I had something holding me up"

" Better". Viana took a Seat on Doris bed.

Doris made for her towel,as she removed her soaked clothes.

"My parents called,'' she said, looking over at Vianas direction as she removed her sweat pants. She gathered the wet clothes and threw them in a basket.

Already she was tying the towel around her body.

"They called?What did they say?".

" Want me home," Doris replied, not wasting any time.

She moved around looking for nothing in particular.

"You home?" It took Viana a while to process it. " That means I will be visiting my mother too," she said happily.

"Umm that's right" Doris muttered and sat beside Viana on the bed.

She held her hands while looking at Viana with all attention.

"Please you have been a good friend, close friend" she sniffled, acting as if she was tearing up.

"I would love to show you to my family, Yuuno, telling them, '' Yes! Mama, papa, look at the girl that made your daughter study, and stay out of trouble, she's..

"Doris, stop going round the bush, come clear". Viana blinked severally. Still,Doris' gaze was on her.

"Would you follow me to my town?" Without waiting for Vianas response she continued "Trust me Creeksville is an interesting place, you gonna enjoy..

"But I can't,what about mother?" Viana looked disturbed. "John might even come to get me knowing we are on holiday and what do you think will happen when he doesn't see me"

" I know Viana, you want to see your mum and all that, but think of getting the chance to meet new people, going to a new place. Also a big expensive ball party is being organized. All the adventure, c'mon baby girl". She held Vianas hand, pressing onto it.

"But.." Viana wanted to try something new. She imagined what it would be like at Doris town.

"Not but hannie, trust me you would be back before you know it.

I just want you to get to feel the happiness, the fun, not going back to that boring town. She shrugged.

"You don't speak of Hilltop that way" Viana gave her a look as she spoke.

"Sorry, her royal highness, so it's a yes?" She looked at Viana hoping she would give her a positive reply.

Viana rolled her eyes and kept an expression though like she was thinking about it "ummmm yes" she replied.

"Arrrghhh Thank You" Doris embraced her, twirling around with happiness.

"I love you" she blew kisses all over Viana who kept laughing at Doris' dramatic show.

Doris continued blowing kisses, as she adjusted her white towel and headed to the bathroom.

Viana smiled as Doris disappeared into the bathroom.

She felt really strange and confused.

Is she sure about what she's about to do?

She doesn't know why she feels it's right.

But then she has to handle mother and John but how?

Will she lie in order to head out with Doris.

She is dying to be in Creeksville but not without Mother's permission.

She had all these In mind as she headed towards her room.

She could hear sounds of water hitting the floor of the bathroom

"I am off to bed", she yelled for Doris to hear and couldn't wait for her response.

She was all tired also as she retired to bed, thinking of how tomorrow would be before she slept off.
