C6 Chapter 6

Bao Rongrong was so furious his eyes nearly popped out. He lunged at Ling Xiao and started swinging.

Ling Xiao casually grabbed him by the back of the neck, then drove a brutal kick straight into his most vulnerable spot.

Even the system couldn’t help but facepalm. This girl was savage.

Bao Rongrong doubled over, clutching his crotch, in so much pain he could barely breathe. Veins bulged across his face, twisted into something downright terrifying.

Ling Xiao, on the other hand, just smiled like she was out for a stroll. “What—because you’re bigger, you think you can bully some little girl?”

Bully you?

You’re the one beating the crap out of me!

Seriously—are you just going to flip the story like that?

Then Bao Rongrong suddenly remembered that spiked glass of red wine. Forgetting about fighting Ling Xiao, he bolted for the restroom on the west side of the private room and started gagging and vomiting.

The rich woman watching it all wasn’t clueless. If it had been a normal glass of wine, there was no way he’d be this panicked—this pale.

But even though she’d seen everything, she didn’t step in to stop it or calm things down.

Wang Xiaoye, meanwhile, had been completely rattled by how sharp and ruthless Ling Xiao was. He just stood there, blank-faced, like his brain had short-circuited.

Ling Xiao pulled out her phone to call the cops. According to the plot prompt, Bao Rongrong was still carrying some illegal, toxic white powder on him.

Might as well finish the job. Since he loved setting people up, she could send him to the station and let him enjoy the consequences firsthand.

She was in the middle of the call when the rich woman realized something was off and hurried over, threatening, “Kid, you should know when to let things go. Do you have any idea who’s behind this place? If you cross them, you’re going to regret it.”

Ling Xiao didn’t even blink. “If I can’t finish it, I’ll take it to go. No big deal, sis.”

The rich woman choked on her anger. “Are you stupid? Do you not understand plain English? And another thing—who are you calling ‘sis’?”

“Knock it off with the fake family act!”

By then, Ling Xiao had already called the cops. She wasn’t in a hurry to leave—she picked out a spot on the leather sofa and sat down.

“If I don’t call you sis, then what… ma’am?”

The rich woman took in the other girl’s striking, icy expression, then glanced at herself. She’d kept herself in great shape, but time still had its way—she was past her prime.

Her tone turned especially nasty. “You’re asking for trouble. You really think they’ll let you off?”

“They will.” Ling Xiao’s face stayed dead serious.

System: She’s gonna lose it! She’s gonna lose it! That lady’s about to get pissed off to death!

The rich woman looked like she was about to snap. Could they have a normal conversation for once?

Just then, the handsome boy who’d been hiding in the corner of the private room suddenly stood up and stepped out of the shadows into the light. “Sister Maggie, you should head home. I’m sorry—tonight was a bust.”

The rich woman froze for a beat. “Lan Yu? Why are you…?”

Why had he been hiding in here the whole time?

If someone didn’t know any better, they’d think he was deliberately eavesdropping on her and that pretty boy.

With Lan Yu stepping in to smooth things over, he finally managed to send the rich woman away.

Not long after, the police arrived. Sure enough, they found a bag of illegal white powder on Bao Rongrong—over 3.5 ounces.

Dazed and out of it, Bao Rongrong was taken away. Even with big spenders at the club backing him, this was too serious. At the very least, that rich woman wasn’t about to swallow her pride and pull strings for him.

“Let’s go.” Ling Xiao shot Wang Xiaoye a look.

“O… oh. Yeah.”

Wang Xiaoye followed behind her, walking like his legs didn’t belong to him. He stumbled and nearly caught his foot on the carpet.

Luckily, Lan Yu was right there and reached out to steady him.

“Th-thanks.” Wang Xiaoye was so shocked by everything tonight that his brain had basically short-circuited.

Lan Yu glanced at the girl’s bright, cold silhouette, hesitated, then—

“Wait!”
