C16 Of Course We will Find the next One!
Zhibing reached out to let Guomin down. "Dad, let Guomin go. I'm taking them to dig up worms to feed the chickens."
"Don't go too far, just stay by the door."
"Got it."
The four kids went out, and Pengcheng turned to Jiaojiao. "I think we need to talk."
Jiaojiao thought for a moment. "Alright, what do you want to talk about?"
That strange feeling crept over Pengcheng again. Was Jiaojiao really the type to have a calm conversation? Would she actually listen to advice? Most importantly, he had no experience talking to women—how was he supposed to start?
Jiaojiao waited a bit, noticing he still hadn't spoken, looking a bit puzzled. "What exactly do you want to talk about?"
Pengcheng looked at Jiaojiao's innocent, questioning face. The words he wanted to say—'She's still my mom'—just wouldn't come out. He ended up shaking his head. "No, nothing."
Jiaojiao's eyes twinkled with a smile. "Alright, then let me share my thoughts."
"Since we're planning to make a good life together, I hope that when I have conflicts with others, you'll stand by me. Even if things get awkward, I hope you can at least stay neutral."
Pengcheng frowned. "What do you mean?"
Jiaojiao's radiant smile nearly dazzled Pengcheng.
"If I ever have a disagreement with your mom, and you can't support me, at least stay neutral. You can do that, right?"
From the way he's been living alone with his kid, it doesn't seem like Zhao Pengcheng is a mama's boy. He probably won't blindly side with his mom, but it's better to be sure.
Zhao Pengcheng's mind was a mess.
What kind of talk is this? How could Yuh Jiaojiao have such an outlandish idea? Is her reputation so bad because her thoughts are so unconventional?
"You..." He hesitated, looking at Yuh Jiaojiao, unsure of what she meant. "What if I say no?"
Yuh Jiaojiao's smile grew softer and more beautiful, yet somehow more unsettling. "Then we'll get a divorce."
She tilted her head and gave him a playful wink. "Why would I stay with a man who doesn't stand up for me? To suffer more? Of course not. I'd kick him to the curb and find someone new."
"Three-legged frogs are hard to find, but two-legged men are everywhere. I'll keep looking until I find one that suits me. What do you think?"
Her mindset was simply astonishing and unheard of.
Divorce isn't unheard of these days, but it's still rare in rural areas. Usually, it's because the woman finds someone with better prospects or the man finds someone prettier. No one divorces just because the man doesn't meet their expectations and they want to move on to the next one.
If this one doesn't work out, move on to the next. Keep going until you find the right one. This is so unconventional.
Zhao Pengcheng glared at her. "You... you!"
Yuh Jiaojiao leaned in close, blew a breath on his neck, and watched with satisfaction as he shivered in surprise. "So, if someone comes over later, you either hide in the house or get far away."
"If you dare say a single word, I'll pack up and head back to my parents'. We haven't even gotten our marriage license yet."
"You!"
"Zhao Pengcheng! Yuh Jiaojiao! Get out here."
They heard someone calling from a distance.
Yuh Jiaojiao looked at Zhao Pengcheng with a smirk. "Are you going inside or getting out of sight?"
