C9 Sonny Boy

Sonny Boy was a twenty-six-year-old black drag queen.

She was testing games for software companies when she was eight.

She was a manager by the time she was ten.

By the time she was twenty-two she was designing software for Fortune 500 companies.

Her software ran the companies.

Sonny Boy was the only known human to crash Deep 6.

Each cell of the honeycomb was fire-walled against its neighbors.

The casing of the entire structure itself was fire-walled against the world, including the U.S. military, the FBI, CIA and the Israeli MOSSAD.

The Chinese and Russians couldn’t penetrate within three planets of it.

But Sonny Boy had crashed it when she was twenty-five.

She penetrated Shroud’s hive and busted into his email.

Sonny Boy left Shroud an email.

The security of Deep 6 had been compromised, she said in her email.

That was all she said.

When Shroud finally calmed down, he asked her what agency she worked for.

Sonny Boy said she was an independent hacker.

Sonny Boy said she knew Deep 6 inside out.

She suggested that in addition to Shroud’s system, she could

take him on a guided tour of everyone else’s, should he care to join her.

Sonny Boy left Shroud the equivalent of dog shit on his doorstep.

Shroud asked Sonny Boy what she wanted in return for silence.

Sonny Boy was a deeply religious person. She began having visions of the Apocalypse before she was three. Before she even knew what the Apocalypse was.

Sonny Boy said she wanted to work for Deep 6.

Sonny Boy wanted to be a part of history.

Sonny Boy was convinced that Deep 6 would play a big part in the end of the world.

That was before he realized that she was a girl.
