CHAPTER 6

I speed walked up my uncle in law’s long driveway. The sound of crushing leaves invaded my hearing and my head snapped behind me. There was no one there. My legs burned as I pushed them to go faster. My chest ached because of my labored breathing and sweat soaked my skin. I was too young to die.
